2) listening to the full works on classicfm (in my quirky kitchen grin)
3) student getting a job offer - very happy for him
4) getting banned from making any more puns at a meeting at work tee hee
5) the sky clouding over - sorry sun worshippers but my office was like a greenhouse
Right off to sort washing, sweep kitchen floor and maybe phone mum who is much recovered from her fall.

Good evening! Hurrah, I am now on 3 days off, not back until Monday !
Had such a busy, hectic day and was ever so glad to finally get out the door. On a Thursday , I have who I call the yummy mummies and their delightful(?) offspring. They go to an after school group behind the cafe and they do my head in every week! Anyway.....they are done for another week!
Alarm clock set for 5am this morning and DD1 and I snuggled under blankets on the sofas and watched ( with tears running down my face with homesickness) the amazing spectacle of the opening ceremony, I thought it was excellent and loved every bit of it ....apart from when I ran for a shower, ran to get dressed, ran to dry my hair! Then had to go to work ( which was crazy.....)
Chips for tea!
Almost the end of masterchef , 3 episodes to go!
Hope you have a happy day
Hope all is well with PK, tealady, broomstick, lovefullshelves, ampersand and mcculloch0 -
Far from the madding crowds, the Malls are filled with Gold!
I know, one mark and the naughty step. KK. Bins, don’t get me started once we put a toxic black bottle in our recycle bin, and letter was received in seconds. Only for the Bin Inspectorate to place all the recyclable into one cavernous truck. As for food waste!!!!!! What is not eaten at ours, Raffles soon rids us off. Now imaginary holiday. Guess what, BoP is like a Cow today! Spain pretend, and paella, Italy and Pasta, Someone coming over the swing bridge to Wales. Costly that! (£6:40). Now cats a running, and BoP. I and just over the moon.
Tad disappointed, went to the 1970 Commonwealth games in Edinburgh, well near the end, and saw sportsman inspire people. Last night managed to watch on the Bolshevik Broadcasting Commissariat, the count down to the opening ceremony and then some no- entity comes on condescending us to empty our pockets. I did not know who you were, but take the line of Mr Lydon. If you want to change the world, empty your wallet first. TV Tax expires, as you have to pay three months 31st August. Hard on the radio this morn, that the show was full of exiled scots, wanting one and all to empty their pockets. Tell you what, if they came and lived here and paid tax, perhaps we would not have to. Note to readers, this has been my stance since April 1973, when at school, another sponsored walk was organised for the benefit of the swimming pool, cost at 5 pence per lesson, was to be roofed! Had already done three, and saw no benefit in this one, so we, and a few others, refused. And no forgets that Mum BoP was DH at the Infant school, so attached as well. So nows yous know.
5 Tag for the swing bridge came, so no more queuing up and throwing cash into the bin, drive up and wait for the barrier to raise up. Think BoPsie will be mightly impressed, or easily pleased. I never knows. Shes was gaggling t’other day, like wummin does, gagle and chuckle. Sees her BoP as her knight, as others have feared worserer!
4 Thinks I am tossing again this evening. Pancakes, and oranges. They are good for you, and the mess it leaves on the stove is incredible. There is none, as I can get pancake from pan, into air, back flip and back into said pan in one flick of the wrist. Awesome. Oh, pancakes. ! medium egg, non hen pecked variety, 3 oz plain flour, sieved and aired. 5 fl oz milk. Lard. Put lard in pan until blue smoke, and away we go.
3 Was is Sparra Lands the other day, and BoPsie offed it to have a catch up gaggle with friend. Mes, as I said. Boots were on.
2 Well it is Thursday and national Curry day. This week it is the usual, and as BoPsie has put her BoP on a rabbit diet, the choice is limited. You note no claw in recent times!
1 We all should care not, if their tongue is cut out? Only used as pawns in the gambit! It is a correctness we follow?
And the kitties walk on chasing yarn!0 -
DfV This is the recipe that I usually use, except I use a slightly longer loaf tin.Unless the baking parchment comes quite high up,you get it coming out over the top, like a mushroom effect. If possible,it tastes even better if left a few days. You can also use brown ale instead of beer.
I also use a 'Leith's Baking Bible' recipe for a large, round cake, which is so yummy. It's on page 324.I haven't found it online, but could give you the recipe if you want.
I've had a busy few days, and am not even sure that I can think of much to post.
-I've found my sensible 'don't spend what you can't afford' hat again. It went missing for a while.:o
-I was given a brussels sprout plant for the garden.
-I was lent the 'Pie In The Sky' boxset with Richard Griffiths ages ago,and have started watching it.
-my dermatology appt has finally happened, and I have a treatment underway.
-after a prolonged torrential rain storm this morning, the sun is making an appearance.
I'm feeling a tad off-colour.I know what will help though,a walk and a swim....:)0 -
BoP, clinician to the nervy, has the following advice. Now I am often stopped on the street and asked how i keep my skin so good condition. Well now I can reveal all.
Epaderm cream. Available at the Pharmacy.0 -
DFV - thank you for the reminder that I hadn't done an update on my appeal: it failed because the correct information was provided elsewhere and I apparently should have known that the general information was right and that given when I specifically phoned up to ask was wrong. :undecided Next step is a complaint, not because I think it will make any difference but simply because I think they need to hear it!
mhagster - congrats on your promotion, and glad it all went well today.
1) Went to cut myself a slice of bread for breakfast, and found that the loaf had gone stale. Once I got over the initial  I realised that it means I have the makings of a bread pudding for the weekend. :j
2) Spent the whole day at my desk and, as it's the first time in over a week that I've done so, it was almost enjoyable.
3) A shop near where I work has started selling locally-made ice cream, so we all treated ourselves mid-afternoon. Even better, the owner is taking suggestions on what flavours to get next, so I put a bid in for coffee.
4) Found a couple more competitions to post on the comps board.
5) RTC beefburgers in buns for dinner. :drool:Back after a very long break!0 -
Good evening,
Thank you Sparrer!
DfV it is so kind of you to respond to everybody in such detail, it really makes interesting reading too!
Here's me today:
1. Early start and workday looking after the boys (the money comes very handy)
2. We visited the Olympic Park, I had never been before, it is really beautiful.
3. The weather continues to be lovely.
4. The builder fixed a potentially major problem in the kitchen which could have caused a lot of problems (wrong unit height) by adding a bit of wood under worktop. Problem solved!
5. I put this last because it is such a great pleasure, the best of all: speaking with DD and DS on the phone today, hearing their sweet voices after so long, it melted my heart.
Good night. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
DfV - yes, my sister is pregnant. New baby due late January. :-)
Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went out with sons to meet my school friend and her 3 children (1, 3 and 4). Could have been a difficult day but my sons played football with the older one, pushed them on the swings and were generally helpful. We found a hornet's nest too.
3) Watered the greenhouse and from the allotment got courgettes, potatoes, lots of peas and 1 chilli pepper!
4) Bigger son and I finally got all the paint off the new fireplace and blackleaded it.
5) Smaller son made fairy cakes.0
