    Hi Everyone,

Sorry I've not been around this week. Lots of late night/long days at work and not really feeling up to posting. Back tonight and it's been lovely catching up with everyones pleasures.

VJsmum - The gift was a little tea towel of the town we live in. Neither of us are from here and we find it a little funny how precious people are about the place.
DforV - Thanks for the info. Have decided to stay with my current unit for the time being and see what happens.
    Caterina - Welcome back.
sparrer - Sending you hugs. Your mam sounds like a real joy, I'm so sorry she is so unwell.

Here are some pleasures for the last week:

1 - Catching up with everybodys posts on here.

2 - Things not going to plan at work. Did the best I could though and have some things I'd do different in the future so have learnt from it.

3 - Knowing my mam is up spending some time with my gran.

4 - Last night of guides on Thursday. Just a planning meeting this coming week and then we are done for the summer. Got 2 more badges :) Still a big kid when it comes to the badges.

5 - When Friday came round and I knew I had 3 days off. Was glad of this as I was shattered and spent Fri am dozing off on the couch.

6 - OH coming home on Friday.

7 - Expenses refunded. Don't need them so sent to savings account.

8 - Went up to London on Saturday. Was really busy which neither OH or I particularly like but we enjoyed just bimbling. Had some delicious gelato. Worked out we walked around 11 miles.

9 - Movie night on Saturday.

10 - Relaxed Sunday getting things done around the house.

Just a quick pleasure to start the day:

    - reading Frith's signature, it gave DH and me a good early morning chuckle!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Evening all from cold and chilly ( yet dry) Melbourne...back to thick jumpers, long trousers, thick socks inside of ugg boots! My little tan is hidden from sight!

So I went to bed last night, I woke up 2 hours later, managed to doze for an hour then I was wide awake and starving at 3am....which was really 6pm to my body clock and tea time! ( bearing in mind said body has been regularly fed aplenty and frequently over previous 2 weeks!) made toast, pottered around kitchen , phoned friend back home and then returned to bed at 5am.....from the land of nod heard everyone going out at various times ....byeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzz. Woke up from another ridiculous dream at 1.45pm.

Thought I should really get up! Hung up/ put away all my clothes etc from holiday, put a washing on , pottered , pottered.

DD2 was in first from school...she had fallen asleep in class.she had slept from 6.30pm-8.30am. Will most likely be in bed early tonight!

Then my lovely DD1 was in from school, I missed her chit chat when I was away. We had a blether then went out for fruit and veg. I did contemplate whether I could get away with my pjs but thought not so jumper, jeans and sparkly red slipper socks under ugg boots on .Don't care what I look like ....comfort and warmth were important!

Popped into salvos and DD and I got a new top each, hers was brand new and mine was half price. She also got a brand new flannelette sheet set. With fitted and top sheet and 2 pillow cases. Pleased with that, upstairs has no heating and gets really cold in winter ( they have aircon for summer when we are all boiling downstairs )

Dinner is on at the moment, reheating some left over lasagne ( pre made before holiday) and having roasted new potatoes ( from our garden) , parsnips and carrots. Will quickly make some cookies whilst oven is on.

Glad to be home. Whilst my family managed without me and I didn't miss them too much it is nice to be home altogether again.

I have started reading through your pleasures, as I often just had the time to post when I got the chance of internet. Congratulations to Miss Kittikins the teacher and to CCP the ologist ( memories of old BT adverts with Maureen Lipman! )
sparrer, thoughts are with you and your family. I'm glad I got to spend a lot of time with my mum when I was home.

    Have a lovely Monday x

  • I'd like to join as i've fallen off the OS wagon this past year due to studying, having a crazy au pair, my DD starting school, end of a 3 year relationship.

So i'm back without any grip on finances (no debt incurred but no rhyme or reason to them either), My house is totally cluttered and :eek: wait for it. I've even had to buy my lunch a few times which to me is downright sinful.

I've stopped going to church and just generally been really disorganised. And exercise has been sporadic.

So i'd like to join here so I can focus on what's important to me.

So my 5 for yesterday are:

    1. Got lots of decluttering done and some good winter items sent to CS for their winter stock including uniforms and kids winter coats and shoes

    2. spent some time in public gardens and had cake :T

    3. My sis and her family arrived safely in dubai. V stressful for her as her son has severe Autism. But he did good and now they can relax.

    4. My daughter got some free roller skates which she seems to be mastering.

    5. My lovely kittens really are growing cuter by the day. We are having so much fun just watching their craziness in the garden.

Thanks all. Lovely to have a place to come to focus on the good stuff

  • Now fear this

An Ory, well I gots an Onics. Any of yous got one without an O in it? Jennys sends out mother :heartpuls Thinks brandy. Now that has set BoP off about Sour Grapes and France. Oh well, BoP’s mum is a little more than 4 hours away. Isis, thinks Raffles is, see below. Has cold pizza replaced cold Chinese and coffee. Free Inians and a reservations. And you nose what, as I ams so pride of BoPsie (careful, as she is active in this area), never bothered to check if the interreactive blonde was still in the car park last nite. Just got a Penelope Pit-stop on me mind now!

5 Raffles was caught sneaking over neighbores gate as I left for the salt mine. Now on SatDi last, was astounded to see said Raffles land in the Conservatory, I said, LAND, from a height. The door was open, but he did not walk in. Interesting! Not. This morning he walked along the fenced, well he does not walk on the fence, be delicately balance, and normally it is a gracious fall rather than a soft landing. So he edged along the fence, onto the conservatory and in, in one swing, the bedroom window. Punch and proud are words that can express his agility. So far no vermin has been removed from the livestock this day.

4 But I still had time for the golden flakes and some warm tea. As it is a weekday, the Jam stays in the cupboreds, next to the cheese. We managed to avoid the interruption of Raffles, who just wanted to be on the table with our food, rather than the dish with his. Question is, do we get the treat sticks for him this month.

3 Shocked, at the W8rz emporium YestDi. BoPsie even got some prawns a £3.99, yet the weekly fed BoP bill only came to £19.70. I go meself an expensive bottle of squash at £1.50. But how comes it was only £19.70. Block of cheese, £1.60. Fresh pineapple, loads of tomatoes, radishes and lettuce. Mega cucumber, onions, bananas. Milk, six pints, paper, Tom puree. Crumpets, Mackerel and a Pork Pie. BoPsie waslaughing as next till was upto £10 and no real shopping had yet the fizz bottles were bagged!

2 And we used some of the prawns with the chirpy cheap Mushrooms we gots when BoPsie fetched the water for her BoP on Friday nite. And we still have loads left. In fact, I think that Raffles will has to turn

1 Stand aside, the bananas are coming ashore.

Fancynancy - welcome to the wonderful (if slightly mad) world of 5OSP! :hello:

mhagster - glad you got home safely and efficiently, if rather jet-lagged!

sparrer - I'm so sorry to hear about your mum. Hugs to you and yours at this difficult time.

    1) RTC seedy roll with RTC smoked salmon for breakfast.

    2) Chatting to colleagues about my appeal to the OU and they all thought I'd been badly treated and had good grounds for my appeal to be upheld. Obviously I thought so, but it's nice to have independent confirmation.

    3) NSD.

    4) Chatting to a lovely customer service rep on the phone, who sufficiently forgot who she was talking to to start complaining to me about dropping her mobile phone down the loo before leaving for work this morning. :rotfl:

    5) Burger in a bun for dinner tonight.
Back after a very long break!

    Evening everyone :hello:

sparrer - huge hugs to you. x

I *thought* we were registered with the Telephone Preference Service, but we seem to be receiving messages on the answerphone saying we qualify for money towards a new boiler. Well, that's lovely but our current one is only 4 years old AND I don't want a recorded message on my answerphone! I will be re-registering with the TPS...

    My pleasures for the day:

    1) Made a tomato and courgette stew to accompany our sausages for this evening's supper. Courgettes are from our garden! :j

    2) A portion of the above stew will be finding its way to the freezer, ready for another time. This is alongside the 3 tubs of beetroot soup DH made last night! :) Feeling virtuous!

    3) Finding more ways of using up the glut of courgettes which will be heading our way very shortly. Thinking that this Courgette & tomato chutney might be required too!

    4) Actually started to use my Amazon Prime subscription to watch a film. I'd signed up last year, when it cost £40 for the speedy delivery. Not sure about when it doubles on renewal to £80.

    5) Looking forward to catching up with a friend tomorrow night.

    Evening

    Congratulations CCP
    Welcome home, Mhags

Pleasures for the last few days

    Weekend

1 DD had her 18 th birthday party, although actual birthday isn't until Friday. The cake was magnificent, photo to follow. We had the hugest bouncy castle in the garden and everyone enjoyed. It, although it was quite a smallish bunch. My problem is that we have a fridge full of booze as they hardly drank any. Most of the leftover food was eaten yesterday and some was frozen, little was chucked away.

    2. We had a nice day together getting ready for the party. I had told her she couldn't get up at one, spend three hours getting ready for them all to arrive at 4 :p. but she was a good girl and mucked in. I packed OH and DS off for the day.
3 OH and I went present shopping yesterday. I am actually taking her to New York for her birthday and so have bought some things for clues - Muppets take Manhatten DVD; a "Central Perk" mug (a la friends); a big apple :D
3 while shopping we ran into one of OHs old friends who we don't see very often
4 had lunch at Eat - it was a fabulous salad.
5 the healthy eating was wrecked by a large piece of chocolate cake - for which I have paid, but was worth it,
6 coffee with my friend this morning

    Nighty night.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
