    Congratulations CCP :T
Good to see you back Caterina. I wonder if it was the fish and chip place we went to where we had a delicious lunch :)
Hope you've had a good flight back to the land down under mhags
Pleased you had a reprieve for the weekend Kittikins ;)

    1. Day 5 of 5. I can eat tomorrow (today)
    2. Went for tea with a friend at a nearby health club (sounds like champagne ;)) this morning. A surprisingly affordable restaurant, looking forward to having lunch there shortly
    3. Did I mention I can eat tomorrow?
    4. Power cleaned the patios this afternoon, it's made a massive improvement. Didn't realise they were that bad :o
    5. Looking forward to a breakfast of scrambled egg in the morning, made with day old eggs from the elderly lady in the next village. Well, from her chickens...

    Sweet dreams :)

    Hi Sparrer,

Good to be back, thanks. No it wasn't that fish and chips, this is a different one, new discovery! We used to use our very local, which was quite expensive and not as good. This one is a short drive (or a long walk) away, but so good! Saturday special for a fiver, which is amazing value for London, and freshly cooked stuff. It is going to be a weekly treat, especially as it is big enough for two!

Am toying with the idea of another London meet, are you interested? xx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Hello from home :)

Arrived this morning 26 hours after leaving Scotland. It's a long trip but nothing else to do than go with the flow and eat, sleep and watch a few programmes on the plane. On first flight to Dubai, we managed to stretch out a bit as there were empty seats but second flight was full so just had to get on with it!

My lovely husband was there to meet us and luckily it's not too long a drive home, quick shower, quick emptying of case and then out for coffee. I had toast and it was lovely!

Have dozed on and off through out the day but have had time to show photos on the TV . I didn't sleep particularly well when away so it is so nice to be back in my own bed :)

It has been so nice being back in Scotland and I feel restored again but it is also so nice to come back home to my family and my house here, this is where we live, where we work and study, so this is home too.

Erm.....blooming freezing here! Back to jumpers and scarves!

My foot pain has hardly been felt so hoping that 3 weeks off work has allowed it to heal ....will soon find out when I go back but I have a few more days off!

Right, have a lovely Sunday all....I need to get back into the time zone again! I'm ahead again!

Thank you very much, everyone. :)

    1) My dad saying proudly on the phone that I'm the first in the family to get an 'ology' - I pointed out that history can't possibly be an 'ology', so he stated, equally proudly, that I'm the first to get an 'ory'. :rotfl:

    2) Cold pizza for brunch.

    3) Big, brave Isis has been outside again, and this time went out of sight of the door - and promptly panicked as she couldn't see me and ran back inside and into hiding! :rotfl:

    4) Won bag of crisps on a competition / game thingy.

    5) Making a big batch of spicy veg stew for dinner, and for work lunches for the next few days.
Back after a very long break!

Had a phone call from the hospital this morning advising DB and I we should go to see DM. DB obviously got there 2 hours before me, said they told him to prepare for the worst but when I got there DM had improved slightly. She has a lung infection (those who know these things will understand if I say pneumonia is called 'the old persons killer', it's on more death cert's than any other cause for geriatrics) two other infections and receiving drugs and nutrients intravenously. But my Mum being my Mum told me there's a drinks machine in the restaurant we're in and brandy is only £2.88 a glass. Said she had no change so chatted up the restaurant manager - a lovely nurse called Wilfred but she misheard his name and calls him Wierd :rotfl: - and he bought her two glasses. In what we thought was a more lucid moment she asked me to thank all the people who are looking after her as they'd all been so kind today, then asked for her cheque book so she could pay the staff!

I'm drawing strength from my fellowship and two very dear friends who have lost their mothers after much trauma, I'm very fortunate to have a good network around me. And even more fortunate that I have such a strong spirited Mum who has kept us smiling all day.

If you still have your Mum just send her a quick text or make a phone call to tell her you love her, you can't do it when it's too late x x

    Evening all :hello:

A busy few days, but about to settle down for the final week of term. DH is watching the football...

My pleasures for the past few days:

    1) I was a volunteer usher at a local arts festival. They had a screening of "20 Feet From Stardom" Absolutely fantastic, if you ever have the chance to see it.

    2) Saw friends. Their 10 year old daughter is nearly as tall as us! She's turning into a lovely young lady. Their younger boys are simply comedians, noisy comedians, but fun!

    3) Spoke via Skype with my cousin in Canada. Always great to chat to her.

    4) Found a voucher for Lakeland, which I thought I'd accidentally recycled. No, just tucked in a "safe place" :o

    5) DH has made beetroot soup, using our beetroot from the garden. Still some beets in the ground. The excess soup will be portioned up for the freezer!

    Night all. x

Sparrer thinking of you and your Mum xx

    1. Our builder came back today smiling (after a big drama yesterday when his GF dumped him) and told us that they are back together.

    2. Bought a lot of mature plants for the allotment today and now it looks quite respectable.

    3. We have a new brick gate post thanks to our builder who did a great job.

    4. DH and I have spent a lot of time together pottering and going stuff around house and garden, quietly and peacefully. It was lovely.

    5. Our Indian neighbour gave us some lovely food as she had cooked too much for her visitors. Had yummy Indian dinner.

    Good night.

Sorry to hear about your mum, Sparrer. I hope she gets better from this. My granddad had the same after an operation and was sure we were all looking round a gas showroom together! Recovery took a time.

Here are my pleasures for today:

    1) A massive lie in. Smaller son slept until 1.15pm. I don't know why. I don't think he has ever slept past 9!

    2) Fishfinger sandwich for breakfast/lunch.

    3) Went swimming with sons and my brother.

    4) School friend here for tea (and for some potatoes off the allotment as we are snowed under!)

    5) Watching the football final which is going on and on....

    6) Found bigger son's school report in his bag and it looks as though he might have done the teeniest bit of work this term.
