5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

1. DM is still confused but she's begun reorganising the ward so definitely improving. The brain scan on Friday showed nothing there. Hmmm...;)
2. Have looked out some lovely photographs to take to her tomorrow, one which was taken on her wedding day with my DGF, her father, and has pride of place on my sideboard.
3. Had a baking day today, including some soft chocolate cookies to take tomorrow
4. A wonderful time at the UB40 gig last night, got there at 5pm, we took a massive picnic, everyone took picnic chairs and blankets so no crushing crowds. The support group was excellent, and UB40 was as good as 30 years ago. Can't wait for the next 'first' experience (already lined up)
5. Yellow thing - now I'm really beginning to wake up from hibernation
Sweet dreams0 -
Monday evening here , been home about an hour , perused the internet , opened my mail.....water bill, rego bill which is like road tax but more expensive and a schedule of school fees! Money, money , money!
( a bill for $14,950 sitting in my desk for uni fees also!)
So let's find some money saving pleasures:
Nice chat with my friend from home ...5 days until I see her
Nice shift at work and only 2 to go!
Sorting out a very difficult customer....a tantrum- ing granny no less having a strop but managed to resolve the problem!
A day so cold, wet and very windy that it was a pleasure to be inside at work!
Just missed the train but had only 2 minutes to wait for the next one, managed to get closed earlier than usual and was home before I'm normally on the train!
Rtc beef, chicken and sausage meat at DDs work, she is making sausage rolls for tea and I shall make soup also. Chicken will become a pie for tomorrow and beef shall go in freezer.
Coming home and the heating going on and warming up! Tis so chilly!
Have a lovely Monday0 -
Relax, it is a Monday
Loads of chocolate around the thread this day. And those underneath, put a log on the fire. Old bands, Old photos. To cherish. Love the bit where the dog pays the bill! Ooh, & it was not arson! It was deliberate. Ashes to ashes! Suppose it was safer to play Scrabble. Up Up Up and away … Man Cave abandoned. Have you noticed how we are like sheep nowadays!
5 Still reeling from yesterday’s spoon licking. Could not believe that BoPsie, who had last spoonful from Mousse dish, did not just go for it. Mind you, with the secret now out and another mousse booked for next weekend, I am in serious danger of not getting the bowl!
4 As for grievous overtime, BoP has been on that since the debacle of Leon, June 14th 1970. Not that I hold a grudge, but I still have my Jeff Astle coin.
3 Rescued wobbleades under safe custodianship of BoPsie. They’re in the fridge, resting until Friday night. Now, you are probably wandering about why they need cooling till Friday. It is because there be note on the ogle box, licence returned on Engerland exit, and you should not pip on a school night.
2 Would be nice if the fans got out to support Engerlands return. They could get the train from Paris, as the plane is going there after Madrid.
1 Poacher or game keeper. One has to question why. Imagine if a Fox had been voted as a champion on the Hen Sanctuary committee. Sits down back in chair as he anticipates a thundering issue next of private eye, as I hear two gamekeepers . As with all the birds, the Kingfisher gets the trout.
Claw roll awaits!0 -
Weekend goodies to catch up on....
1. Sunshine!
2. Town carnival was lovelyDD became part of it by helping out her and my dad's canine capering group in the arena.
3. We went to the splash park and I got wet-ish, whilst DD was soaked. What the heck, it was sunny and i had a blanket in the car to wrap her in
4. Bumped into, and then DD played with, some of the children from my school
5. Got up early yesterday to drive to London - the Vikings were awesome, we learned loads and more importantly, had fun
6. Found free parking nearby!
7. Wandered around Covent Garden after the BM, and ended up buying a scrummy pizza and eating it al fresco in a square that I used to work near. Never had pizza then though....
8. Took DD to the village park.
9. Managed to avoid being hit in the head by a cricket ball!
10. Did very little planning over the weekend as I was pretty much ready on Friday afternoon. Yay!!
11. Watched The Sculptress on TV over 2 nights.
12. DD put lots of tea tree oil on one of my scars that was giving me gip and appears to have cured the problem. HOorah for Dr DD
13. Fab day at school today - 2 of my little cherubs asked to come in and do some extra maths at lunchtime! They were really good at what we were doing anyway, but I'll never turn down a child who wants to learn more!
14. We all had a boogey in the classroom before starting Literacy - lots of tired looking faces, mine included, good old yootoobe!
15. The children are very excited as we are going to perform a lovely poem on Friday at assembly.
16. One of the extra maths children had also done extra phonics as I foolishly stuck tomorrow's worksheet in her groups' books, then forgot and called them back to 'finish their work'. D'oh! Thankfully I've found something more exciting for them to do tomorrow in phonics.....she'll be ahead of the others
17. Yummy cupcake to celebrate a pair twins in the class' birthday
18. DD is out ice skaing with the brownies, lucky thing!0 -
Each attempt to depart foiled by huge LOUD thunder directly overhead and lightning and massive driving downpours. One's just ended with sudden sun, but I'm not trusting it now.
1. Yesterday's Churchathon around all 5 in the Benefice was not meteo-blighted. The whole day was wonderful, yellow, special, happy. Ending with barbecue in vicarage garden, chickens about and companionable - all good.
2. Overjoyed young rugby chap's delight evident.
3. Meriam Ibrahim's release this afternoon, to which Clare Balding rightly gave prominence, interrupting her Wimbledon commentary. This will now stay with me, as a Mandela moment.
4. Buddleias starting to bloom, so butterflies are visiting, landing on &:-), esp. one with a damaged wing, all missing along bottom right edge. Hope she survives.
5. nsd/npd - if only via weather.
bop - PLEASE don't be following the other round ball, the small one, for all our sakes, let alone Lady Bopsie's and your own. Even & has had to come away from listening to any more horror. Same no. of players per team as at Leon 70[possibly the same players]....ah, now I know why it's all gone pete tong. TEAMS WENT TO EACH OTHER'S MATCHES and still are...oh lawks...last ball of day brings Plunkett's 'brainless dismissal'...57-5, or was that the score from Leon?.... It's all horribly likely these albion days, it seems.
& has kindly allowed her balloon to deflate gently over the multi-tragic scenes.
But those Olympic Golden girls can still ROW.
kk - you sound so much the long-settled, inspiring and loving-it teacher. It's wonderful to see this after your year. Well, well done and once again - lucky the children who have Ms KK as their new teacher. You will be the beacon for so many.
dfv - enjoyed your post on another Thread I happened to also. Totally agree. Hope the young couple have a wonderful time and I'd love for an early birth there!
frith - is Matilda[aka Isis/Squeaker]in a similar condition or no?

Thank you &, this school has helped me regain my confidence and enthusiasm so much
I so wanted to throw in the towel a couple of months ago and now I can't wait til September!
I couldn't have got through the last year without having all of you on this thread giving me such fabulous support xx0 -
1) The place I am going to for an interview next week has set a task to be completed before the interview, and I had only the vaguest idea how to go about it. Then, this morning, an email turned up in my inbox containing a perfect example, which I have saved for reference! :j
2) Went up to the bank to try and make an appointment, and they were able to see me almost at once. :T
3) And, as I was leaving, the person I'd been talking to gave me a small box of chocolates, as he had seen on my records that it's my birthday soon.
4) Brave Isis went and stood on the doorstep this evening, although sticking her nose outside proved rather too much for her - she's now gone back into hiding to recover from the shock!
5) I was half intending to go out tonight but didn't sleep well last night and have decided I'm too tired to enjoy it, so I'm going to stay at home with a scented candle, a book, and some football (and possibly Isis, although I'm not counting on it!)
Back after a very long break!0 -
It's a family of illness at the moment. Dad of Frith (mysterious illness, possibly gallstones) has a falling white cell count but is still not well. I was supposed to go and see him today while mum and brother were at Wimbledon. But no. Smaller son's recurrent infection is back, bigger son only got up for 2 hours thanks to raging high temperature and sore throat and I'm poorly too!
Anyway, pleasures for today!
1) My friends had their second baby at 4 this morning. :-)
2) Smaller son did go to school, despite the infection. On antibiotics again now (course 7!)
3) Popped in to Tesco on the way home from dropping smaller son off to get honey and lemons for drinks for bigger son and me.
4) Watched a lot of Wimbledon.
5) Cheating tea of fishfinger sandwiches. I'd never cooked fishfingers before!
That's it for today.0 -
Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't been around over the last few days. Busy times here and kept being distracted.
Pleasures from the last few days
1 - Sister arrived on Thursday to stay for a bit.
2 - Ridiculously early start on Friday to get to London early for work but it was a good day and caught up with people I hadn't seen for a while.
3 - Lots of really nice chat with customers on Saturday.
4 - Comeday night with my sister on Saturday. Tickets only cost a booking fee so bargain night out. Both acts were funny but especially enjoyed the the first one.
5 - West End Live!!! This is the second year I've been to this event. It is FANTASTIC. Free event showcasing bits from London shows. Beautiful sunshine filled day. Saw a few shows we didn't see last time. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
6 - Travelled for work again today but got to do something new and got a lot out of it.
7 - Refund I was waiting for has appeared in my account so a little extra to see me through to payday.
8 - No weight loss but no gain either.
9 - Catching up on everyone elses pleasures.0 -
Evening everyone :hello:
Well, I was going to be full of the joys of summer until an old school friend told me she's been diagnosed with high grade non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Trouble is, she's 30 weeks pregnant... Chemo started immediately and prognosis is good, but still... It has REALLY shaken me.
My pleasures seem rather small, but it's caused me to have a long think about "things". However, I'm blessed that I can have pleasures, no matter how small and trivial.
1) My DH is fab. He's planted my "Sweetpea Forever" and is trying to train it up some sort of feat of engineering he's put together in the garden (canes and string to the uninitiated!).
2) Gave our third courgette plant to a colleague. DH was appalled when I told him that she'd bought four plants - PLANTS???? - and they'd been eaten by slugs. He's thinking of going into production next year of planting seeds and then flogging the plants for £1 each. :rotfl:
3) Credit cards paid!
4) All cards for birthdays in July have been written. Just need to post them, including one to a friend's son in Australia (that's not OS as the Post Office will charge me the price of a First Class bed on BA to get it there).
5) I was invited to the school governors' meeting to talk about how the ICT is going in school. All well, I was able to report!
6) I have my health, DH, my family and my friends. I'm lucky and I'll keep them close.
