    Morning All,

Just trying to catch up before the hamster wheel of the week starts turning again! Reverbe , I don't know how you manage to remember things!

I have a good memory and also I write them down.(not always on the same day tho)

Re the ladies who do online dating - mind if I ask what sites you go on as you seem to find a lot of potentials. I used to do it and found a lot of them on were married, old, not my physical type etc etc..To be fair I do think a lot of them were on there cos they couldnt get dates in real life. I was stunned also to see how short a lot of guys are. I used to think the average height for a man was 5ft10 or so but I was contacted by a lot of guys well under 5ft 8 and a lot who were a lot shorter than me.As I have never been with anyone I find physically attractive which was why I joined the site, after about 7 years on there I decided to give up on that kind of thing altogether in life. But I would be curious to see if some sites offer a better quality of man.

Of course perhaps you ladies are a lot younger or perhaps you are looking for different criteria. I recall a lot of blokes seemed to think we all liked rugby build types but to me that is large and not very tall and a little fat imo.:p

I use Plenty of Fish and to be honest am not having a great deal of luck, although I remain hopeful -many guys on there just aren't suitable (married/living a long way off/transvestite/non-monogamous/and even female!). Either that or you swap a few emails and then they disappear off into cyberspace.

I think I have lots to give the right guy, but I'm lucky in that I'm very happy with my life anyway and if I never meet Mr Right, well, it would be a shame, I guess, but not the end of my world.

OK its only 2.30 - but my 5 for today are:

1 having washed all my bedroom curtains and line dried them all.
2 having cut up a pair of old velvet curtains to make curtain linings for 2 pairs of bedroom curtains.
3 surprise that sewing machine still works
4 being told that I'm managing quite well really by a child psychologist when she heard the state of my life!
5 managing to smile at my husbands daily outburst. (I smiled on the way out of the door!)

Have to go back and finish the curtains as I need to get them back on the curtain poles before bedtime tonight!

Heres hoping you're all surviving! x
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Reverbe - Well i used a couple but the best was Guardian Soulmates. I went on lots of dates with some good and some bad people and some ok but not for me people, i also went speeddating which was a little scary at first but which was highly amusing and quite productive (ah! where are you now my David Tennant lookalike? ;)) xfactordates was quite good, fortunately nothing to do with X Factor though! But found current BF on Guardian Soulmates. To be honest when i checked his profile I wasn't really that interested, thought he was too old, too thin and a bit weird. But seemed harmless and i had nothing on one evening so arranged a date and he turned out to be the most wonderful man i've ever met. We've been together 8 months...

I think dating with an open heart and a willingness to take chances works. oh and don't set too much store by profiles or uploaded pictures, some guys are just hopeless at selling themselves on the internet :rotfl:

That's my problem - I am notoriously fussy and easily put off!

Lilac Lillie - I may well meet someone travelling, but odds are he'll be going in the opposite direction! :D

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I found it hard to do as you do because the problem was finding people you would even want to sepdn the time , money and effort for one date with.:rotfl:

As for pics etc I find that nobody looks remotely like the pic including some taken several years and a good few stones less.So my tip for online daters is to see them on webcam or at least a pic with a date stamp...

I find it hard to contemplate how you are meant to find someone if you disregard pics and profiles. Profiles tell you if you are mentally interested and pics for physical. I joined dating sites prob for a diff reason than most - I had never been with anyone I found remotely physically attractive nor had I had sex that was better than lousy - so my life ambition was to have at least half decent sex with someone remotely attractive at least once before I die.(being stuck with what I can get as beggars cant be choosers when you are no looker yourself. I am not a very attractive woman but I did find a few nice looking nice lads but they of course wanted attractive and pretty women so that was a non starter lol:rotfl:)

Oh dear - just browsing Guardian Soulmates where the ones they gave me from my search are either baldies, weirdoes or glasses wearing geeks lol and I am nto even looking at anyone over 40 lol. Guess thats the Grauniad for you - if you want intelligence looks dont come too :p

Oh!! I am quite touched by all your kind remarks on my 10Km run yesterday. Thanks. I have a lovely life and this thread lets me celebrate it. I do try to be good with money - not so much saving money for the bottom line but being sensible and using money wisely. I feel that food should be carefully chosen - we eat a very veggie based diet but are not totally vegetarian. If we eat meat I like to know it has been raised and killed well - I dont want to support a bad system - we try to buy organic, free range and local when possible. As we get older we find we dont need to eat as much therefore I go for quality not quantity. I do realise that others may not be able to make these choices and well remember the days when we had baked beans on toast for supper for the last few days of the month before pay day!
    My 5 for today
    1. Great yoga class - lovely teacher
    2. No aches or pains from yesterday
    3. Hearing woodpeckers drumming away in the woods this morning
    4. Nice emails from my daughter in law
    5. Got round to painting the wall in the kitchen which had peeled due to constant kettle steam. Only took 10 mins! Why didnt I do it sooner? Looks nice now.

    Have a good evening all.

    Stay clutter-free
No new stuff unless to replace broken items that are essential.
£2 savings pot (started Oct 09) £182 so far (£100 of which is banked)
Roadkill jar (found money) 87p and 20 eurocents

Queenofnomatterwhat Welcome :) what a lovely restful day :)
Megsmum - WELL DONE on your race / time. :T thats brill! And also for painting the kitchen :D
Katieclampit - What a lovely time with your grandchildren, and no doubt a grateful mum!
CCP - how did the quiz go? I love them :D
Nutty - lovely choice on the wine, sounds posh! And checked out more piccies on your site today, the superhero ones are AWESOME! The one with the stars :rotfl:! They are so clever!
Caterina, Thank you for the link, I didnt realise so much damage was done to wildlife because of plastic bags :( I took some old ones to town today because of you! So I may not have time to make any, but I will now reuse more!
Girly, what a bargain day for you ! sounds great!
Kitty, the picnic idea is lovely, sounds like such a nice way to have lunch with a lovely little girl for company too :)
Carolyntia - Bacton. So close to where we were! I used to work at James paget in Gorleston before we bought the pub in COltishall!
Newlywed, glad you enjoyed the film, it was a great treat for you to have :)
Tealady - sorry to hear your arm is sore :( Hope the tablets helped a little. Im jealous of the walking pack! I keep seeing it on the freebies board, but they wont post them to Scotland :(
Jennyjewell, nice to see you again :) Bless "sheeps" it makes sense tho - more than one is a plural right? :D Well done on the Bolero bargain too!
Acey - Your hair looks nice :D and BOO at grumpy neighbours!
Houself - congratulations to your daughter, you must be sooo proud - and also up so early! Sounds like you had a busy time, but with a few treats thrown in as well!
Bunny - the posh do sounds like something to really look forward too - dont forget nail varnish :D:D:D
Pepsimax - you remind me of me - thats exactly what I would do if i got a monitor! (tho I would probably put sticky notes on everything too, so I remembered!!!!)
Aberrisford - 311 steps ! the view sounds ace though, well done!
ESMF - sounds like you had a busy one, and very productive - time for a cuppa and a twink now :D

My few... well it has been 2 days worth!

    1) this is TOTALLY true! A chap who had booked a table yesterday, calls up and says "Hi, we have a table at 1.30 but I have just had to do an emergency cesarian on one of my cows, and she is lying in the drive atm so we cant get out! Can we come later please once she has moved?"
What can you say to that! Its gone on my "memoirs" list!
    2) Cleaning the girls out this morning (yes I even like cleaning them out! but im sure the novelty will wear off!) They all jump on the barrow and "help" by undoing all my good work! And then follow me around moaning at me for moving things!
    3) Went to town this morning, havent been for a while and got some really great stuff! 4 "new" books from CS for £1 as they were having a sale :D whoopsies including some fresh mussels for less than half price, and a load of petite rolls that I can use for big parties to save me making some! 29p for 13! got 4 bags :D also a nice bit of brisket and 2 stew packs of veg, all for £4 total, and will do a couple of staff meals! And to top it all off, the free morrisons magazine!
    4) Made a start on my plastic bottle greenhouse panels. Now I drink ALOT of diet Irn bru (18 x 2l bottles a week! - not addicted lol) And I had only saved enough for the door panel! Seems I need to drink about another 245 bottles according to rough calculations- soooo, the pics will be up when its done in about erm...12 weeks :D
    5) I won the Microwave on EBAY! Ok, so it was more than I first bid, but ALOT less than a reconditioned one usually goes for, and to top it all, the lady I am collecting it from, said that her friend repairs them, so if I take mine with me, and leave it with her for a week, then if its just the magnatron thingy (which our usual commercial repair guy said it was and quoted us £400 odd) it will be about £70 including the part :T:T:T

    Have a lovely evening all

    1. Getting my house all clean and tidy again after the weekend - including putting washing away, a job i try to aviod, and doing household admin (likewise)
    2. Doing some surveys online to try to build up points for freebies - somthing that's always on my to do list but never gets done!
    3. The beautiful sunshine (though still v cold)
    4. Two fantastic buys in a local charity shop - an enamel serving spoon which hooks over a shelf, for 30p. I actually have another similar one which I bought in a chi chi shop in cornwall in my more profligate days - for a lot more than 30p! I have a thing about enamelware so this was a great buy! And a fantastic mug that celebrates an area in my town, again for 30p, but which all the shops here have been selling for a fiver
    5. My puppy frolicking in the sun
