Evening all :) Hope you all had a lovely Saturday

Katholicos - dehydrator? is that how you make those yummy banana chips? or am I being my usual silly self lol!
Bunnytoo Have a lovely day tomorrow you lucky thing :)
Savingforoz Stop teasing with the story! I so want to read it! And the trip sounds amazing :)
Acey, Nutty and Carolyntia - lets just not mention the whole avatar thing :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:We knew all along right girls?
Newlywed You sound right on top of things and all organised :) I think treating yourselves to the premier Inn will make your time away even more special and will be worth it.
JennyJewell - nice to see you, pull up a chair :) Im new to the thread too, but they all just let me waffle on and dont judge (they simply scroll! ;)) ! As CCP said People post 5 or more! OS (old style - sometimes as simple as the sun shining) pleasures in their day, they dont have to be OS, nor do they have to be good ones if you need to vent, but its the little things that happen that make you realise that it isnt all bad, it really is like walking down the street and chatting, and even when you have had what you think is a bad day, it makes you try and think of some good things that happened and I often find myself doing something or noticing something during the day and thinking, "ooo thats one of my 5!" (but I am a bit special and not in a good way lol!)
CCP - when you say "we're" is that footie speak for your team, or are you going to wembly? either way it sounds like a good thing!:D
Nutty - was it red or white? Hope you enjoyed it!
House elf - Thank you for info, will check pie in the sky on catch up. Shame about the greenhouse with school and the tyre garden as that sounds ace. I have lovely visions of a rockery type thing but made of tyres, am I on the right track? I am going to use the plans to make panels to convert the old coal / junk shed into a greenhouse - listen to me - the new alan titchmarsh! Never grew anything before except cress at school when i was like 5! Even my flippin hair wont grow! Will post pics for everyones entertainment no doubt! (of the green house not my hair!):rotfl:
Girly, I love come dine with me, the cooking / social side ofc, but the commentator is just so great and sooooo sarcastic!
Caterina - I can seeee youuuu!!! erm... not that i couldnt work out about avatars before ofc! *coughs* Sorry to be my usual stupid self, but what are morsbags? not heard of them?
Carolyntia - The last pub I had before here, was in Coltishall! Didnt realise you were a norfolk girl! ( gimme a break! i only just found the avatar thing - with help today! Didnt realise you were Norwich, till I was looking!)
Sounds promising about the house - and im not just saying that! People either look and run, or look and ask questions, or if you are me, they look and you talk them to death ofc... good luck!
Kitti, sounds like you had a great time out and a great babysitter too boot! Good on you on your bargains already for xmas wish I was that organised.
Acey - (takes you to one side! and whispers shhh! we knew about the avatar thing right...;)!!!) Ahem... your NEW avatar looks ACE :D

    My five!
    Finally i hear you say!
    1) Getting through the day unscathed, had a party of 25 in tonight and it went well, even tho i was a bit stressy this morning prepping it all, it was worth it!
    2) Getting a couple of free samples of twinnings tea in the post, that I forgot I applied for!
    3) lovely clear sunny day today, and the mountains are still snow capped, so it "glistened" off an absolutely still calm loch.
    4) Sitting with Gosia, my lovely polish waitress (who started a month before we bought the place, and was only supposed to stay 2 months, and is still here after 2.5 years! Not sure her calling me "mum" does my ego much good tho seeing as she is only 7 years younger!) whilst she opened a parcel from home, packed with goodies that her real mum had sent :) it was a lovely parcel and lovely to see her excitement, and be excited with her! bless her, she had also received a CD she ordered which she insisted I opened for her, as I didnt have a parcel to open :):):) And then having to give an opinion on what she was wearing for a party tonight :) Love her loads :) everyone should have a Gosia she brightens the dullest of days she is so lovely even tho we have our moments! :)
    5) The girls, what 5 would be complete without a mention! I know they are hens, but they are my hens, and I waited 12 years to get some! They are just lovely and make me laugh SO much, they are the ONLY thing that can get a smile at 7am trust me!!! (until I got them, there was one 7 O'clock per day and it WASNT in a morning!) I find myself spending so much time just watching them! They are hysterical! ( I would tell stories, but it would bore you, kind of "had to be there" moments!
Hugs to all, and thank you for letting me be me! (or scrolling!)

Sorry, Jexygirl, I don't intend to tease about the story! Anyway, it's far from finishing, needs lots of spit and polish to make it worthy of publication!

    My 5 for yesterday:

    1. Making a big vat of delicious spicy lentil soup in the slow cooker (so easy!) and another big vat of yoghurt.

    2. Lovely cuddles with my foster cat Penny - which is good as I'm not her most favourite person right now. I have to put drops in her eye three times a day, and she's not a willing participant.

    3. All my favourite US crime dramas on TV in the evening as I cuddled Penny Puss.

    4. Getting my butt in gear to check my tyre pressures, so that should help with fuel consumption this week. I do try to do it every week but often it just doesn't happen.

    5. Updating my finances and I'd overlooked that we don't pay water rates in March and April, so I have more money that I thought to go towards my trip and my new laptop. Plus, with the stock market rising, both my ISA and my pension have surged upwards. Yippee!

    6. Finding a new cosmetics bag and a wash bag, both exactly what I was looking for (most wash bags are far too small) for a reasonable price.

Have a great Sunday, everyone. I'm off to the gym in a minute.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

Well, here's me trying to find 5 OS pleasures to try and get back into OSiness - I badly need to get back to it as I've been letting myself slip. I've been tired lately and not wanting to cook in the evenings. Mealplans too have slipped. Here goes then:

    1) I've started exercising again which, apart from the aching arms this morning, has made me feel a bit better about myself. Lighter, almost.
    2) I've made a shopping list and done some mealplans with health in mind (I need to lose about a stone) and intend to stick to it.
    3) The sun is out. It just makes me feel better.
    4) Having a look around a new garden centre and saying to myself "I could make something like that for far cheaper". hehe
    5) Jambalaya last night for tea, feeling full and not having dessert. That's a good start. :)

Anyway, have a good day, everyone.

    Kitchenbunny xx

    Hi all

7 - While in Waitrose I discovered that there were a few Poilane sliced loaves (Poilane is a wonderfully tasty real bread from France, that normally costs a fortune) with today's expiry date. As the other breads had already been stickered I went and asked if they could sticker this one too, and got two enormous loaves for £2 each (they were £5.49 before reduction). More than 2Kh Poilane, I am delighted, I love the stuff but it is so expensive that I only buy it when reduced. Have already unpacked and frozen 3/4 of it in separate bags so i shall ration it over the next couple of weeks.

OMG @ £5.50 a loaf... thats as much as I spend on a weeks shopping on an expensive week:eek::eek::eek::eek:

  • Caterina - could you explain morsbagging to me? I received a free morsbag when I bought some books from Oxfam. I was really chuffed with it and use it as a library bag now.
carolyntia - when you fly offshore, you probably go over my house - I live near Cromer. *waves* to another Norfolky.
Ladyhawk - have a good holiday.
CCP - Chilli cheese burger? Oooh - that sounds so goooood. *drools*

Here are my five for yesterday:

    1) Another sunny day (will we ever get bored at marvelling at this?!)
    2) Both boys went to a friends 4th birthday party. A lovely old-school party with balloons and party tea and running about. They both have such a great time and it was lovely to see everyone enjoying a simple, classic, OS party. Apparently the older boys all sat together watching each other play chess which I thought was really charming. :)
    3) DH and I snuck off to the local Sainsbugs while the boys were at the party. Bought two pairs of cheap croc-style sandals for DS2 and a smart pair of trousers for DH (for job interviews) but I was very good and put back a top and a bag that I was tempted to buy (but didn't really need).
    4) Delish cheesy spaghetti with 'whoopsied' turkey breast slices in for tea.
    5) Spent most of the evening on the internet going on a virtual holiday to San Francisco, Las Vegas and New Mexico! Maybe one day...

    Have a great Sunday everyone.

Good Afternoon All - Wonderful wonderful sunny sunshine .... and here are my other 5
    1. Ran 10k race this morning and so nearly managed to beat the 1 hr target I struggle with. Gave myself a pat on the back and said "Well done Granny"
    2. Company of good friend and my husband.
    3. Not feeling hungry after small post-lunch race (and not feeling sick either!)
    4. Digging the good earth with the hens helping. Like Jexygirl you really have to be there to laugh but it is so funny.
    5. Hearing the owls, foxes and badgers in the night and wondering what they are all up to.
    6. Selling an item I had free-advertised in the paper to the first person who came to see it - without any quibbling too.Has freed up some more space in the vegetable garden and added a healthy £60 to the funds. Chatting to the people who bought it about their alpacas (Hmmmm have we got enough land for an alpaca?).
    7. OOOOhhhhh the lovely yellow sunshine!!
