Well that was a long day at work! first closing shift ( took me an hour longer than it should have done....maybe less time tomorrow? )
So , interesting staff dynamic person really peed me off today ....but apparently she's just bumping her gums and I've not to be annoyed by it...grrrr!
Woke up at 5 am , phoned mum and had a good chat with her. She's about to have her 3rd chemo session and I feel so far away. All I can do is phone/ email.
Nice fresh air today and heavy rain at 4pm....I was at work so didn't get wet! The gardens will have welcomed it!
Offered to take someone's photo today ( the lady looked like she was going through chemo treatment and I felt a bit sad , so took a photo of the 3 of them granny, mummy and granddaughter. Their phone memory was full so I took it on my phone and emailed it to them. Felt like a nice thing to do.
Dinner was courtesy of work....work is all I've done today! Home with filled rolls and wraps and salad. Bread and rolls too! Would just be getting chucked!
OH and DS picked me up so I didn't need to wait for a train!
The continuing saga of selling school books continues....really folks, school went back 2 weeks ago!! So DD1 has listed everything but we gave my phone number as the contact. Today I have been called , I have been texted ...I have been called again! Someone will come and pick up book tomorrow and leave money ...let's hope they are honest! Then someone has just called and tried to haggle! We were not for haggling! They live in the next suburb....they can get one $10 cheaper but it's at the other side of the city....text them back if we want to sell it for less.....let me think ....nah!
That's me...all worked out today....better get used to it as this is what it will be like week after next, back to full time hours! Yikes!
Have a lovely Wednesday0 -

(Did you like the haggis?! I'm biased!)
Hmm. :undecided It's OK, and I'm glad I've tried it, but I'm not completely enamoured, tbh.
Pleasures for yesterday:
1) Found that the local convenience store has my favourite peanut cookies back in stock. They're not cheap, but my appetite is currently very poor (bloomin' tablets:mad:) so it's nice to have something tasty to nibble on when I can't face anything more substantial.
2) Received an email to say I'd won a prize in a competition, although I won't know exactly what until it arrives.
3) Watching Isis whirlwinding with her ball - a perennial pleasure.
4) Dragged myself out to the pub quiz even though I didn't really feel like going and enjoyed it when I got there, even when we missed out on a prize by one measly point.
5) A text from my sister, sounding tired but happy to be back at work.Back after a very long break!0 -
Kittikins a 'to do' list is a very good idea. I have one (I need one, memory like a sieve) which is added to daily - the first item has never changed. 'Turn off the computer!'
VickyA pleased you enjoyed your sing. There's little more therapeutic than singing like nobody's listening, dancing like nobody's watching and laughing til it hurts (with apologies to Mark Twain)
dfv Like every small seaside town Dawlish dreads the influx, breathes a sigh of relief when it's over, but without them there from upcountry they'd have a tough existence. I still order from the local creamery, there's no clotted cream like it on any supermarket shelf and their pasties are a must when I visit. Big congrats on your appointment
Frith I loved the photo. I don't know what it's like now but it used to have a very good reputation. How lovely of your sister's friend to give you plants, they're much easier than growing from seed
mhags what a kind thought to take the photo of strangers. And what an insult the person trying to haggle. Some people are so rude!
1. Woken at 5.50am by the help line, sorted that out then got up because muttley was fussing. Watched the sun come up
2. DD was going to buy some shower curtain hooks a couple of days ago but I said I thought I had some. Rummaged through the car boot boxes and found two packs which will save her some pennies
3. Received an invitation to a posh frock do in a few weeks, with what I have and some sparkles from the cs to liven up my one and only long black dress - last worn sometime in the mid 18th c - I think I can get away with about £5 for the whole outfit
Will save 4 and 5 for later as I have to do what the first item on my list tell me to
No bickering childrenenjoy your day

Morning. Had a decent sleep (again... and a lie in, again) am off to shower and resume normality ie work. Have decided to stop malingering.
Have found my two extra pleasures missing from yesterday.
4. Third NSD and NPD in a row.
5. This is cheating a bit because a) I've posted it before more than once, and b) it was from this morning not yesterday, but who cares. Someone has resurrected the O/S disasters thread. That is the one with my favourite ever post (moo2moo's one about the builders): http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=13365147&postcount=179 It still makes me laugh out loud.
Have a lovely Wednesday,

Still the edges this week are not getting smoothed over. I now I do not use this wax thing, just the plain old rotavator on a weekday. Bet we are getting there this week. But did you know that rotavator is one of the longest palindromes in the English language? Now, as for this wax thing. Has it got something to do with candles?
See FaceBucks has been lit up again, not as good as round here it not. Shhh Silence Please! Ah, Dr Seuss. Shirley he was a Tom! Lost Posts. Always have the template ready, but no send to printer. Sit on it. Rough, sleeping. Are you in BoP mode? Waxing? Is that something the moon does. Not wanting to beat around the bush, BoP! Oh, & NZ won at cricket. (Not ungentlemanly, just cricket) Spag Bol (vat!). Put in cherry tomato squirters! Burger and Chips. Bumping her gums, impressed, no. Isis, at last playing ball. Posh Glad rags.
The following is an extract from BoP’s Solicitor’s office, issued by BoP. For general use only. Any advise given to others should be taken with a pinch of salt. Any resemblance to others is purely and totally coincidental and is meant to give you a beard rub, and as BoP is not smooth this week, it could tingle for longer than normal.
5 Last nite, we had to go out before playing Scrabble to the S’bugs As BoPsie, usual when she shops, has bag full of coupons. In fact I was went into her handbag, I nose, naughty, and had my pinkies rapped, and it is really unbare-able. Now, I went for some wobbleade, coupon for said. Now it was for 200 points, worth £1. But some other wobbleade was on offer at £3.99. Now, I need no tell yous lot about saving the pennies, but I was not going to give the S’Bug wing of the gallery, money for note. So the coupon wobbleade at £5.79 stayed on the shelf. But that is not all folks.
4 BoPsie, now usually when we get to the till, her, failing eyesight now, see posts passim, notes very quickly as items are rung through, when there be correctly priced, on offer, two for one etc. But coupons, as why BoPsies eyesight is failing, she is hopeless at. Once we got some small towels, or the like, only to stand at the till in Mr T while we changed them 6 times, going from super absorbent to regular and back again, only for the till to reject every attempt at getting an extra 10p off. So, at the self disservice till, no other available as they stand like robots doing nothing on next to nothing.
3 Times I tried the coupon, so proudly extracted from BoPsie’s hand cart bag. Pip, beep, beep, blowed me beeeeep. Oh no, BoPsie no where in sight, as usual. Then, as if by magic, there is a sudden click of heels. You guessed it, BoPsie appears all gracious and says, you put coupon in here. Tried again.
2 further attempts at the coupon, generously shown the way by the ex BoPsie by this stage, till she murmurs in her coffee and says. Actually, you did not notice it was out of date. Well, I do suppose if we went there more often, then they would not end up out of date!
6 Now, as you can see, after all this furore. Why, I have to do my best and beat BoPsie at Scrabble. And the longer my eyesight fails, the harder it gets So that is why. And Live Scrabble could be back on Friday this week.
1 There is no wrong in singing in the bath, BoP can play a string quartet and wash himself at the same time. Try it, it whistles up your day.
Just realised that is not all pleasures, but then again, there is only one pleasure we like on this part of the Parish and that is plenty of Yellow Stuff. And, after my recent talk with the one upstairs, at the gate, I can now assure readers, that Easter, there will be a rising.
And pleasure when I get back home. BoPsie Speccs have arrived. She is now Speccy four eyes! She cannot get used to them.
And cakes have arrived!0 -
Skint yet Again - wish I could blame the children for mess. Alas, not completely true. Washed windows?! We've had enough rain to dodge that job.
Frith - the keys to the kingplot now in hand? Hurrah! Did you have time to see the Saxon Hoard at Birmingham? (Leaves me weak-kneed every time.) Lots of tiny plants - yes, that's proper allotment neighbourliness!
Chickenopolis - just some Cath/Tesco bags (a 2008 strong blue w flower pattern, unissued, all w tags! so toe in bay of E) Goodwill gestures from Cliniq*e? What had they done?! Book of Face has its merits - we kept tabs on parents at wedding in Canada as web-enabled guests posted vigorously. Saved money & worry!
kittikins - all these lesson plans! Have lots of fun with World Book Day & all the best with the piano Miss Kittikins!
Purple kitten - hoping work are a *lot* better behaved today!
Broomstick - Ah - not all at once. (Pity.) Now to figure how you borrow in 3 hour chunks... Clean sheets - hmmm! (My family still on theirs, me at desk.) Just read O/S disaster - only just safe at work - there's a smile every time!
VJsmum - you wax? Yow! Teaching cheeky boys, eh? Oh yes, wallet haemorrhages for uniform...
BoP - good to see male modesty still something other folk may do. Singing/string quartet in the bath? What music?!
Ampersand - by all means look stunning in purple, but please omit the spitting? Never really understood why JJ thought that a vintage vice. World Scout Jamboree stuff always riveting reading - Whenever I feel down I go back to Scouting for Boys & either am uplifted (or weak with laughter) in minutes.
VickyA - sorry to hear lurgy still has you in its grip, but £6 should get three wheels onto the Toll road? Would love to sing to Mamma Mia but menfolk keep hiding the disk. Must go shake loose Desert Island Disks site before T&D overwritten...
DD - confess I'm looking forward to being invested - though I've no idea *how* for a prentice assistant leader! Is there any reciprocity for gifts from visiting chinese prof - & if so what? Uni scarf?
mhagster - closing shift always has more to do than seems reasonable. Just staying in touch with mum is more than some will do - even reasonable folks can get unreasonable about chemo. Taking & sharing photos is a real kindness. Folks trying to haggle a fortnight into term?! Sheesh...
CCP - It's OK to be uncertain about haggis. (All the more for me!) In the right setting & company & with a wee dram, it's glorious. Competing with smoked salmon, it has a harder job. Sorry the tablets are taking appetite away, but hurrah happy sister & better luck next quiz!
sparrer - to know a local creamery is a special treat - mum gets sent real cornish cream at Christmas from a still down there cousin & it forms a special tea! We've started a carboot box & it does hold the most astonishing things! "last worn sometime in the mid 18th c" - ah yes, much of my wardrobe is like that! Well done on sorting a posh do outfit for £5 though!
OS Pleasures
My shemagh (real woven red & white) is both warm & a visible reminder to other road users - earth tone pedestrians are at risk too early on!
Sons had minor spree in model shop - lots of little odd bits.
Since I didn't go out & get/make bread, breakfast was a wrap & not as puny as I feared!
Home made veg soup (using roughly chunked odds & bits) surprisingly toothsome - must find stick blender for a thicker version.
Session paddling in bay of e appears to be postponed as menfolk having an outbreak of creativity & thus no tidying done.
Big hugs to all who need them, may your computers all have the files you're looking for the first time, & enjoy the small wins.0 -

Sparrer - I must confess, I have about 3 or even more to do lists on the go, I keep on putting them down and forgetting where they are and then writing 1. Find other to do list, 2. Cross off duplications....
CCP - congratulations on your win, wonder what it'll be....any ideas?
1. Have had a day off studying/prepping, but am back to it tonight (there's beggar all on't telly tonight!)
2. DD and I went for a swim at the localish pool with a wave machineWe had such a silly time, she's such fun to be with, and was hyper because she was so excited (as was I) to be having a mummy/daughter day
3. We had a picnic....in the car! Our first of the year, roll on 'summer'!
4. We went to see a film and like a good MSEr, I sat in the foyer and booked the tickets on my phone to save 10%
5. Yummy veggie sausage casserole for dinner - no leftovers for tomorrow it was so scrummy!
6. I've just printed off all my lessons for next week so I can check (find it easier on paper than on screen) and add in anything I've forgotten, like NC references...life will hopefully be much easier when I can go to weekly rather than individual lesson plans *sigh*
7. Feeling very refreshed tonight after my swim, not that we did much actual swimming, more cuddling and paddling about.....I certainly needed a day of fun0
