I found the Skeleton sliders very exciting, but I am the sort of person who gets engrossed with racing raindrops on train windows.... Thrilled with a British gold.
Friend in Dawlish has tweeted that things are even worse than they were the other week (when the rail line washed away). Eek.
I'd half forgotten it was half term which means I get to spend some time with the DGC next week, yay!
Please get well Jarvis. Good boy.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
1. Thankyou for all your posts - now caught up, just.
2. Feeling grateful to be safe through this extra hefty noisome night. It is very bad in France too.
3. Checked about 2hrs ago. Sheds 1&2 present and correct, freezer working, all trees bending but not breaking. The wind is roaring and bucketing, not letting up, very very loud and big and bangy.
4. Tea and h/m toast, ditto jams, eaten in kitchen dark, looking out, listening.
5. About to re-do hwb. May add 2nd, consciously appreciating this and 1-4.

Frith, you DO do well at village bingo, don't you:-) People as in your no.2 do cross our paths, pull us up every so often and it's as well.
DD- how's that little chap this morning? Hope you both had restful night.
kk- fingers crossed for a viewing this w/e. Just think how those owners may well have their fingers crossed for the 'right' peeps, as you did. This time, it could be you, other side of the equation. Blessings to you and dd for Oct half-term chez toi [and kk through her first 6 weeks in post].

dundeedoghope that you're getting better!
frith I love the sound of your bingo!
ampersand I hope you are behaving yourself and not doing too much?
DFVi love your posts...you give a brief review of everyone's pleasures!
kittikins I hope the estate agent gets back to you soon, have a lovely half term with young Miss Kittie.
Vicky enjoy your weekend after a stress week, well done on your inspection visit.
broomstick glad you got your cheque , saves the hassle of small claims court and keep staying dry.
chicken how are the new chookies settling in? How long do you keep them separated?
LFS it's good to celebrate lurve everyday and not just once a year!
tealady glad you are staying dry as well , it must be such a worry.
CCP how goes Miss Isis ? Has she settled any with the spray? Have you settled a bit more? How is your sister doing?
sparreryay to sparkling bathroom! I finally got round to hoovering mine today ....was on my list since Tuesday!
PK your trip to Brighton sounded lovely....just think a Purple Chicken meeting!
VJsmum I had a cleaning lady a few years ago, when I returned to work....I paid her more than I got an hour but the pleasure of coming home to a tidy house was worth it....but I didn't let her do the kids bedrooms...they had to keep there own rooms tidy! Hope this one works out for you....I think if you are clear from the start what you expect from her it should work.
skinto are you enjoying the peace and quiet? ( apart for silly early morning calls!)
If I've missed anyone out ....have a hug
Right, it's Saturday evening, I'm sitting out on my front porch, typing as fast as I can whilst thunder rumbles in the distance. Storms are forecast and will be welcome to clear the air. It was already 27o at 8.30am and has been another hot and humid day. We'd a shower of rain before which is so welcome. Gardens are so, so dry.
So, after another crappy sleep, woke up ( gladly) at 5.45 am and phoned my friend back home, nice to swap news from the last few days!
Went for Saturday scone.
Got another brooch but a platypus this time. It's been put away for my birthday next month. But didn't want to miss out on getting one as they are limited editions.
Went to aldi for fruit and veg and got a rtc picnic blanket ( like an Australian flag) and half price roses!
Went to Woolies and got a crusty loaf and then all valentines stuff rtc! I had seen valentine twine ( red and white string basically!) last week and thought I'd get it after the event....I did! Also some cake cases and some wrapping paper and a beautiful floral display that was rtc by 75%!
Home and pottered about. My baby tawny frogmouth has been perched in the tree since early morning and does not appear to have moved.
Started a new library book.
Finally hoovered ....has been on the list since Tuesday.
My kindly OH washed my absolutely filthy car, was covered in dust, possum poop and pee and tawny frogmouth poop! Yuk! Now sparkling and green again.....for now!
Any suggestions for what to do with a marrow or two? Does it make nice soup?
Enjoy your day0 -
Bingo Lights & can you tell the French the wind is meant to hit land in the Bay of Biscay. DDawg Jenny sends a :heartpuls Hoovered, cleaned. Sliders on ice. Lakes, more later. Toast and awards. Well, there was fish on Friday.
5 Lots of chirpy BoPsie last night. But she always knows gat everyday her BoP just cooooooooooonoooooooooooooooooodles her. So we go again. Perhaps we will pop out for the anniversary crocs later. No, imam leaving the iPad corrections.
4 We got Raffles some chew sticks fro w8rz. He can demolish them in one. Hand is a little shredded now. But he has had 5 of the 7 already. And he s now happily chasing the packet, thinking there is one inside of it. He'll learn, not. He is a fearless fluff ball.
3 Just had the Satdi feast of Snorkers, Smoked Back, mushrooms, toast, and SpagYETTI. Washed down with tea and jam, raspberry seeded, on toast. Now all I have o do is ruff up and be ready for the path ahead.
2 Last night, the stream was only inches from the bridge, but in most of the car park. Good job the motorway does form a natural weir, but when they put the houses on the meadow, it may be different. Flooded again this morning. Hope all are in dry socks though.
1 Pull up yer Wellies and keep your socks dry.
Hugs to all who care about the others. Now, offs to give Raffles another treat!
Just tired the & link and it's jumped a day.
No, we used cash last night, as the plaice we used manages to miscount the wobbleades BoP has, and adds on!0 -
Morning all, and apologies for the lack of post yesterday - see pleasure 4.
DD - I'm so sorry to hear about DundeeDog - having just been through the same thing with Isis (different illness but the same situation - she came down with something that looked very similar to a regular illness Moggett suffered from) you really have my sympathy. Get well now, dog!
mhagster - if you can stand to do it in the heat, marrow makes fantastic jam, particularly with ginger.
ampersand - you're quite right, they are intriguing flowers! I'll have to keep an eye out for those.
Pleasures for yesterday:
1) Slept through the night and woke up feeling hungry, the first time I have done either in over a week.
2) The post office found my 'missing' parcel - it had been there the whole time but, because I didn't tell them it had been sent by recorded delivery, they were 'looking in the wrong place'. Hmm. :undecided
3) I finish work early on a Friday so was home in time to see Lizzie Yarnold winning a gold medal by throwing herself headfirst down a mountain while lying on a tea-tray. It's a great result but honestly - who comes up with these sports?!
4) Then used my much-loved 'play-back' feature to watch the whole of the men's ice skating competition - by the time it finished it was gone 10pm and I was too tired to post.
5) Got a text to say my sister is going back to work on Monday, hopefully on a staged return (I will ask her) as she has been off on long-term sick leave for more than six months now. She loves her job and is so excited to be going back.
Hope all are safe and well and haven't blown away in last night's storm.Back after a very long break!0 -
Dundeedawg thanks you for all your good wishes. He's such a happy chappy for the vet. He woke at 6 so i got up, walked them, gave them breakfast and although he didnt eat much he drank quite a bit and wasnt sick, nor was there any more runs. He's had a longer term antib this morning and is now happily wagging his tail at my feet. L!dl shop mercifully small to help compensate for vet kerchings.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Good afternoon all !
PK - One could say though that I used to look old when I was young, hence no change now I am "old"
. You are welcome here any time even if just passing x Might need VJsmum's cleaner first though !
VJsmum - hope you feel better soon !
McCulloch - if that photo does not pull the mares in I don't know what will !
Skintos - what an utter w*nker . Why did he feel the need to say that to you ???
Mhagster - they have had wire separating them all week , until today ..
DfV- there is a 50% chance of my Skylines laying blue eggs . I have had 4 and they all lay blue eggs .:D
5 for today
1. Made some miso type soup for lunch
2. OH cut the newbies flight feathers , much mud in face , and feathers around the garden. When put back on the ground they all started munching so not that traumatised .
3. They squared up to each other like a c*ck fight and are all in the garden avoiding each other . One lot go one way and the newbies go another way:rotfl:This will continue until their bedtime.
4.Got 4 free tickets for racing in April to a racecourse that I have raced on myself a hundred years ago - PK you went there this week
5.Terrier sitting tonight - she is having a sleepover as DM is going out !
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
mcculloch - sneaker teller of tales! Whooped with laughter! Pudding is a *stunner* - manners as good as his looks?! Skeleton looks great - sons prefer luge (break a leg first), but I'd rather go headfirst!
VJsmum - new cleaner will learn how far she'll go for money. How's your iron count if you're feeling rundown? If you shared OH's prep, no surprise you feel a bit meek. Clear fluids not known for imparting vim etc.
Purple kitten - airplane too? I stumbled off to bed midway grinning.
Skint yet again - sometimes ex-OHs remind us why they're exes. Bacon butties are why I don't think I'll ever manage vegetarianism.
DD - oh you poor soul! Hope Dundeedog gets better pronto & can then gnaw on flattie &/or letting agent for rent. So relieved to hear Dawg better today!
Kittikins - "prawn", eh? The vowel sound is right, though. Card school already? Go on, poker is good for numeracy... Good luck with flat & garden!
VickyA - tears in the classroom - love polishing the stars idea. Now rest over half term!
BoP - sounds like you painted the town & had fun doing so! Someone's going to build on a flood meadow?!
Ampersand - good to hear embroidery healing! Those are seriously weird daffs. Intriguing, too, but daff does not spring to mind! "hefty noisome night" - indeed!
sparrer - thankyou for the root reassurance. May have to try freezing chocolate. Tippex on sealant?! Well, toothpaste wouldn't be much use.
Frith - what a day - jewellery making, drumming, batik painting and more bingo victories!
Broomstick - hurrah for unexpected cheque! Hydrosnakes look absolutely fascinating - and I hope they live in a cupboard for years.
mhagster - are you a power-off-if-lightning person? Platypus brooch to go with kookaburra? Happy plans! Local Aldi hip deep in discounted valentines, but I went for noodles & mushrooms. Raining so much here, I can't be bothered to *wash* the car, just wipe the glass & any mudspatters. http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2000/sep/24/foodanddrink.recipes for marrow ideas?
CCP - well done on sleep & hunger, both very good signs! Fun watching the madness on a teatray & the chaps in their costumes... Go back to work GENTLY sis!?
Chickenopolis - fascinated by the quirk that makes an egg blue. Cheers OH pruning flight feathers (where do you learn *that* talent?!) now in dudgeon til bedtime? Matron of girlschool surely has it easier?! Back lots of winners in April!
OS Pleasures today
Catching the News Quiz unexpectedly - "you're a wide gentleman..." - must go find it on iplayer!
Emailed shopping list "Dicktarored not read ... [all needful for a hearty fry-up] ... bleach, Timed ravioli" The iPad is doing *nothing* for their spelling.
Baklava at Aldi - seemed worth a try for 49 pence. Lads now dusting the ceilings for me...
Dropped two Scouts at camp - bulging rucksacks, drizzle & slithery footing not affecting the careful portage of "camp cake". (To keep blood sugar sorted, cake is essential, so it's on the kit list.)
Son sorting old Warhammer bits to flog on the bay of E - splendid lad wants a serious pike & has outgrown these things! (Delighted - better a real edged weapon than blasted overpriced toy soldiers!) [is that odd?]
Big hugs to all who need them, echoing Ampersand's "Safe, dry, warm weekends to all" & health & good weather all round!0 -
Glad to see people have made it through last night's storm mostly in one piece (by "mostly in one piece" I of course mean "with internet still working" XD)
I consider myself to be a very lucky young lady;
1. My room smells like daffodilsGentleman Caller bought me narcissi (mini daffs) yesterday, it was our 1st Valentines together but neither of us is really bothered by it, he got me flowers and I cooked a dinner made up of items bought on offer XD Just because I don't celebrate Valentines doesn't mean I can't take advantage of supermarket's special offers.
2. There's leftover cheesecake in the fridge.
3. Did my food shopping for this week and realised I can actually mostly eat out of the freezer so that saved me some money.
4. Flat got through the storm, all the trees are still standing outside and me and my housemates had closed all the windows so nothing got blown over or broken.
5. Tomorrow is another day off work!
Have a lovely evening everyone!0 -
I has bin AmperSandInn. Or looking round the iPlayer and found this. Only 12 minutes long.
