Good evening everyone :hello: and Happy Valentine's Day to you all:heartpuls:heartpuls
:heartpuls:
DigforVictory - I'm hoping to pop to the seconds shop next week, so I'll let you know! As for the cards, I have a friend who is a Phoenix Trader, so I ensure I top up every now and again!
I'm so blinking tired. We survived today at school, but it was a bit of a limp to the end of the term. At least I get a lie-in tomorrow! :j :j
Had a bit of a sob today in the class as one child in the class has recently lost a parent. Anyway, it would have been the parent's birthday today so the child was understandably upset. I reminded the child that the parent would have been delighted at how well the child was doing. The child said that their parent hadn't wanted to go to heaven or hell, but instead was polishing the stars. Well, that set me off, as you can imagine!
So, my pleasures for today:
1) No Ofsted. Phew!
2) M&S Valentine's meal. Delicious and no prep required. A massive cheat, but cheaper than going out.
3) Macmillan charity bag for clothes received through the door. I'll be trying to fill it over the next few days.
4) Really, really need to write a massively long list for things to catch up on over the week but.......
5) ........... I'm going to bed!

And raffles. What can I say. His chewy treat. Gone.0 -
Well!well! well!
I'll be back to the HaArchers blog some time soon, ditto Anarchists.
1. Just caught up on i-player!:eek::eek: I'd thought tidal creep of Jill to Brookfield Farm was dangerous. We've been here before. The centuriennes among us will remember the big falling out with working wyf, non-cheffie Rooooth some decades back. Musical beds anodyne enough[although Pip might rightly look askance when back from Uni to find Gran's been in hers] but ce soir...Jess! Essex! No! With me, Helen, in my bed. Tumti-tumti-tumti-tum....etc.
2. Happy this to all for whom it remains relevant:

3. More stuff done. Hand-delivered 2nd letter resulting in 1st face-to-face meeting. Excellent. Hope lives again.
4. First look at L-shape stitching with nurse early. Very embroidery tiny, petit-point neat. She took away the big outer. Thudding away now but hwb, books, camomile tea waiting, philosophical tonight.
5. Bunny towers roof still there. Hadn't left town by much when I remembered carrots and went back to stables for them. Not long in, hence Wireless catch-up.
6. Today's crests and troughs - missed out on Cabin Pressure tickets, but just won s.silver moi initial for v.v.v.little on Bay of e. Organic Sevilles at w8rs rtc 70p/kg. Will do marmalade fundraisers. Amazoned 2 copies of Celia Lashlie book. Didn't get to one other call, but can do demain. Exciting further news em from biographer. Listened again to this in the night:

Required listening. Wonderful, not down-dragging, but uplifting, despite subject matter.

lfs - You may now resume - Offishully.:p
dfv- ' (Traditionally ours are so dire they constitute the default threat "keep that up & I'll look like my passport photo!")' Mine is right there. It's just that NZ gumment putah let it through. There must be a baldrick at work in there somewhere.
ccp - £land made me; they look so intriguing:

Vicky, I'd missed your Trial By Ofsted, so very, very well done on getting through in one piece and being 'officially' good. I got picked to have my lesson observed when they could have picked any one of a few dozen colleagues some years ago. It was a top-notch lesson naturally, (!) and got a special mention in the write up for the county provision as a whole. Didn't stop a nightmare internal observation a couple of years later though... well done on getting through.
I thought you would like to see this. It's Pudding, the dad of my two baby racehorses to be:Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Oh mcculloch - just had to come straight back. That beautiful, beautiful fella! My Valentine any day:-)CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

There were 22,000 applications for 200 tickets  so no surprise.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
VJsmum I turned the television on just in time to see Lizzie Yarnold racing to her gold and shouted out 'Yes!' cos I was so excited
DDog hope you get well soon, if not sooner
Skint what a horrible man. You should keep a whistle by the phone in case he calls again
dfv the roots were veg, just not the same as in the veg pie. Frozen chocolate is delish, I prefer it to room temp.
As yesterday a very quiet day at home so with thinking cap on I'll try to find 5
1. nsd/npd
2. gave the bathroom a thorough clean, washed curtains, shower curtain etc. Tippex'ed where the sealant was loose round the bath the bath, works wonders and lasts for years, as it did on a small chip on the bath which was there when I moved in and which is still practically invisible.
3. jacket with prawns and salad for lunch
4. vacuumed out the kitchen drawers
5. We're still safe and dry, although I did read all the advice on how to cope in a flood just in case. Not a lot of good to me, somehow I can't see me hauling my furniture and carpets upstairs! It made fun reading though...
Sweet dreams0 -
Skint - I hope he didn't wake you up at 4am. What a wally!
Here are my pleasures for today:
1) Smaller son well enough to go to school.
2) Went to the jewellery making course in the library in the town with the very expensive flood defences. ;-) Had a cup of tea in the community tea room afterwards and the only lady on the course who has irritated me (think a Brummie Barbara Windsor) came in as well and sat next to me. :-/ Well, I was reading an allotment library book and it turns out she has turned her lawn into a vegetable garden to support her neighbour who had breast cancer and wanted to grow all her own veg and have the healthiest possible diet. So they've been gardening together. She also keeps horses and is not the silly person I had presumed.
3) Went to smaller son's Family Learning Afternoon and did drumming then batik painting. I was talking to the other mother with a son with a statement (he has CP) and she already knows he got into his first choice high school. Allegedly my letter about smaller son's high school was posted today.......
4) A pleasure was getting home through possibly the worst storm I have ever driven through. We intended to pop to the allotment to check the shed was still there but had to give up on that. Real floods, flash floods etc.
5) Jamie Oliver's veg chilli (from the freezer) and rice for tea.
6) Bingo! Brother came too. I won twice, the first time I got pasta, sauce, meatballs and garlic bread. The second, a Battenburg cake, gateau and some cake slices that will be useful for school lunches. :-)
7) Brother came back here to play on the Wii with sons.
8) Mrs No Tail cat came in (very rare) then looked shell shocked and hid under various beds. She even had a bit of a fuss but has gone out again now.
9) Looking forward to the Now Show or the News Quiz (whichever it is) in bed in a bit.
Sons off to their father's tomorrow til Wednesday so will have to make a big list of jobs to do over those days in the morning!0 -
Evening all.
Five pleasures for Friday:
1. House still dry. River still behaving. Estate at the back of us with a lake in the middle of it still a hive of activity with people preparing for the worst again.
2. About a year overdue cheque (3-figs) arrived completely out of the blue in the post this morning. I was on the verge of planning to take the person to the small claims court but now I don't have to. Will wait for it to clear and then send a nice thank you. So relieved this has come to an end peacefully.
3. Got a big supermarket shop done with the last of my £12 off vouchers. Cupboards look healthy again and am well stocked up on basics including emergency stuff.
4. Collected a couple of hydrosnakes and hydropacks that I'd had on order at the DIY shop. Lots of money but they seem to last in their dry state for years and will give a bit of peace of mind in terms of having a way of boosting flood defences in an emergency.
5. Really good chats with both DSs.
(((Hugs))) and 'get well soons' to poorlies (human and animal). Stay warm and dry everyone.
Sweet dreams
