Yes please mhags - send any amount, although there's yellow thing morning here so far. Hold on, I'll turn the sound down in case bop hears, otherwise there'll be Customs and Duty and all wretched sorts.
I am just hearing Jacques Brel singing 'Pourquoi tuer Jaurès'. A very thoughtful[will listen again] Point of View from Adam Gopnik, Why Sportsmanship Matters:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03sb5y8 Please find time for this one, bop.
There's also a very& piece on Fr/German war poetry in translation.
Call that intro for hier:
1. CATHARSIS achieved, mightily so, in The Alma. Absolutely fabulous match, a 50-pointer, all said and done. Knew about Gäel Fickou 'cos of Var Matin horror that he under-slipped Mourad Boudjellal's radar for Toulon>Toulouse[and we're badly in need]. Good to see Luther Burrell right there for Albion, similarly - the next generation. What a match! What a match! The Alma heaving, fantastic atmosphere, no-one too nasty, all gents gracious and helpful, honesty overflowing, owner greeting&[to her amazement] announcing 'here be ennemi and an AB too!', so &sortakinda mascotted. 'HOW can you support France if you're a kiwi?'
& notes Les Bleues vs Albion Ladies ended 18-6.
2. &squat to dump with neighbour's rubbish where nice chap helped and heaved sacks into skip from ground level[impressive], to adjacent P&R and driver waiting, to town, to small T for grauniad, to chat with French woman +3 dogs near Alma, to reverbe 5p just outside Alma - one of those nicely brisk, everything meshing kinds of day. Bonuses even before The Off.
3. En route to dump, stopped in @Church[need to hurry for Family Service now]. Lady was doing flowers, her 1st time flying solo, so she asked & & & deffo.said[you may be only too sure]what and where. But she wanted this and we chatted much. It was bitterly cold inside, but the filtering light was beautiful.
4. Could have done without silly GeorgeGawn storyline in an everyday story of ordinary farming folk. Yup, Tony newvoice is a plus. Confirmed. Great. great Now Show everybody. Headsup:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qgt7
5. And 'cos I've been re-reading Malcom Guite's Candlemas Sonnet[had it with me for 3, exprès]was earlier googling about and have now nailed....

'Walkies' as the RB treadmill shall henceforth be known, has arrived. It fits perfectly in the area I hoped it would albeit with only two inches to spare fore and aft but that's all it needs. The socket on the wall there doesn't work so I have to call the electrician but that's just a minor detail, I've stood on it, pretended to walk by marking time, played with the safety switch, in general had a wonderful time with it this morning! No real walking, no calories lost, but what the heck, I enjoyed exercising my imagination
. And it the worst comes to the worst and the socket can't be fixed I'll just have to get an extension lead. Someone suggested I could use it as a coat hanger, I believe that's what happens to old exercise machines before they go to that great gym in the sky? But no, not my new baby, it's going to go walkies every day like the good pet owner that I am.
Can you tell I'm excited about it?
Oh and being the good Mother-in-law that I am I gave DSiL a fresh-out-of-the-bm loaf for being a good boy and delivering it. We won't go into details of my being in the shower when he hammered on the door
The yellow thing is here and I'm going to meet my friends for some fun, laughter and lunch. Happy Sunday0 -
cont. - rehabilitated:
Right, back from Church, back with a box of No More Plants, sparked by use of snowdrop in brilliant seminar-type service from a Light Blues Fellow in Ordinary, our Church Warden.
Met nmp lady and she said ' Take them, drop money in whenever...' Will do this arvo. It's lovely out.
Easter's definitely early, thankyou bop - yellow thing still running and even the wind has less bite today.
5. DID read-
'And 'cos I've been re-reading Malcom Guite's Candlemas Sonnet[had it with me for 3, exprès]was earlier googling about and have now nailed this firmly onto toolbar:
http://projectbritain.com/year/february.htm
-right alongside this one:
http://www.saint-dicton.com/
along with loving everything about the Severn bore, here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/search/?q=Severn%20bore and ongoing day-long.
6. can be Church today. Not many, but great. Arks built. Irving Finkel Ark tablet decoding woven seamlessly in:
https://www.hodder.co.uk/books/detail.page?isbn=9781444757071
Just fantastic, with this for all ages:
Remember, amateurs built the ark, professionals built the Titanic
7. Jan/Feb birthdays were sought. One lass 'I'm 6 next Saturday' and &. Up we went, received candles on Candlemas, lit and blessed as was the custom on this day, the symbolism of 40 all fitting in. Unexpected, wonderful and post-service, spoke aside with Dr M.
8....so as to light and bless further candle for next week's birthday who &will visit demain.
9. Back last night to venison concoction and it is sumptuous.
10. More ruggers this cet a-m, but will listen while fiddling about outside.
11.Oh, box of No More Plants is £10, for zillions. A single shrub therein would cost more anywhere. Yet again, &'s saying Sodit! and calling it another late-anniversaire pressie to self. And yes, nice lady J[we thought it was time to know each other's name]DID find me her last snowdrops.
12. Chat with neighbour doing more bunnyopolis, looking so much better, moving quite well for first time in ages. Good discussion re:various. NZ included. Eyes will be kept open, necessary with oicke and sons en face.
13. It now HAS To Be living from freezer until back early June, having had momentary fright when checking a/c online, then thinking: phone, laptop[still in box], plane, rent-a-dent carhire.....all unhelped by enforced no Spits until op.+10 days next wk.
Continue a grand day everyone - Ireland or Scotland dd? - and, je note, Giddynmg.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Full of shiny horses ,tack ( half panel saddles serge linings- not very comfortable )and the most wonderful deep littered bedding. I love the discipline that goes with correct horse(wo)man ship.
5 for Friday
1. Hair cut by someone who hasn't cut my hair before. My lovely young hairdressers cancer has returned which was news to me. 3. Afternoon snooze:D
4. OH bought home some fillet steak for tea and blue cheese sauce
5. Pay day
5 for yesterday
1. Found a lot of water in my boot . Not a pleasure . Seems like its coming in through a dodgy gasket around the light, or as found some broken glass under seats so it might have been broken into before I had it and got wet then ? Car is spotless and it just doesn't "figure"?? I will though..;)
2.Film on Bl*nkbox - Rush . Gotta love the late James Hunt
3.Used up some Xmas snacks for tea the ones that were being flogged to death by EmnEss at the time. V. nice.
4. OH has started to pay back some of the money that he owes me and has set up a monthly standing order for this purpose.
5.Washing done
5 for today
1. OH bought some cakes in V. Patisserie
2.OH has put some sealant around rear light. Gaskets are easier enough to fit on VW's so might do this myself if it ever stops raining. Fingers crossed it solves it.
3. Bumped into my Aunt in Deben*ams who was down from Essex as my Uncle was pumping the water out of their boat which is moored here.
4. Going out tonight for a Thai meal . Must wear stretchy jeans to fit it all in
Thats it ! Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Oi. DD. Chelp! I have anti crinkle cream, but no crinkles.
5 Poached eggs on toast, and jam, raspberry with pips, on toast. Washed with tea.
4 Got a club, and used it. Read paper as well as me free tea, but the orange clubs are so nice.
3 typical poor performances over the weekend. Well, the cricket team can meet up with the rugby, and forever go round the Paris metro
2 nite is film nite. Grate Desparations. No you lot, do not think I am the one with creases. The only creases I have are in my pants. One side. Nor is I Magwitch either.

giddynmg - beaches in winter have a special magic! Family time can be just so special.
BoP - good to hear a proper breakfast after sharing a shower with Raffles! Film night & Dickens? Ace!
DD - brilliant teaching through jetlag & isn't it great when the pupils do most of the work?! (As in so interesting!) You have spaniels?!
bagpuss - giggling to & from ballet sounds wonderful & enjoy the batch cooking!
CCP - for someone suffering writers block 800 words is superb! Enjoy the yellow stuff!
Caterina - fusion lunch has clearly powered your paperwork blitz! (Must try chick pea curry!)
mhagster - someone else the newbie at work? So sorry your car is sick - so inconvenient even where commuting is possible. All heat gratefully received!
ampersand - hurrah for a stonking match enjoyed at the Alma, helpful muscles at dump & delighted to hear the Church has recruited you! Happy birthday candle, venison benison & hurrah No More Plants includes locally gifted snowdrops!
sparrer - walkies sounds fab & delighted to hear family stepped up to help install inhouse! Hoping you had a lovely lunch, bathed in yellow stuff!
Chickenopolis - think you'ld enjoy a few inches of my library - manuals of horsemanship civilian & military, 1920- onwards, astride & sidesaddle, show ring & Thelwell.... Right with you on loving the discipline & ma fois, the sidesaddle dress code! Pink jodhs really *not* acceptable! Water in my car where whatever has frozen in brake light defrosts and spills as I hoist boot lid. What do you reckon to Bl!nkbox? Value for money?! Pumping out Uncle while Aunts hits Debenhams - well organised woman!
Purple kitten - well done getting lots done! Hurrah for cheering MiL, for a takeaway that knows you & a *really* effective flask! Wonderful how shout timings are a bit "eh?!" at the start but improve once you go hands on! (My most recent one included then getting the carpet washed & the loo unblocked!) Love "freezer lottery"!
OS Pleasures
calling in meter readings to complete my transfer to the new regime. The raw satisfaction of knowing my bills can't get Massively worse [unless the livestock run amok] is potent!
Steering imminent birthday sons through savvy shopping techniques. They start with "I want" & then go off the idea or get an upgrade for the same 'price' depending on which sites I riffle.
Trying the Amazon Prime 24 hour delivery lark just in high birthday season! Tomorrow, son may rate his own drone/van...
Made home made stew with everything at the bottom of the veg drawer. Tasted OK to me, everyone still breathing, so presume it a success. (I am *not* a superlative cook!)
Long call from sis who has staggered in from a Life Coaching weekend & she's full of plans - which makes a very nice change & I really hope they work out for her!
Big hugs to all who need them, hurrah for the yellow stuff & all the best with Plans!0 -
1) Long lie-in this morning - despite Isis' best efforts it was just one of those "can't wake up" mornings.
2) NSD and NPD.
3) Managed another 1000-odd words of essay, which were flowing more easily than yesterday. Writing about the cult of Isis was rather odd, though - I had to keep reminding myself I was writing about the Egyptian goddess and not the b&w cat mewing around my ankles while I typed!
4) A text from my sister, back at home and catching up on sleep in peace, away from the noisy hospital ward.
5) Snags for dinner, braised in red wine sauce and served with roast parsnips and steamed, buttery kale. :drool:Back after a very long break!0 -
Great news about your sister, CCP. I hope she is able to recover fully at home.
My pleasures for the weekend:
1) Visiting my friend in Scotland. Haven't seen her since her wedding 2.5yrs ago and now she has a 6 month old baby.
2) Enjoyed catching up with Britain's Oldest Family Businesses from BBC Four. I never normally venture on to BBC Four, but this really was interesting.
3) Thank you letter written. :A
4) Visited an exhibition of "Portraits of Ghillies" along the River Dee this morning. Really interesting and one of the ghillies was there. Fascinating to talk to.
5) Bought some bits at the airport and got £20 back because I used my Amex! Not OS, but I was dead chuffed and I'd already got the purchase planned to benefit from the £20 back!!!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Funny watching the BBC tonight!
If you watch Countryfile, they looked round a stately home just 5 miles from here (and a couple of miles from where I went to high school, in the middle of nowhere). Then they had a report from the forest where we actually live! (Hence my reports of deer and muntjac over the years). And they had an interview with Rosemary who used to work in the Forestry Commission shop.
Then we watched Top Gear and it started at the racing track that my mum and dad are members of and we go a few times a year to watch the hill climb! Apparently my school friend's uncle was in one of the shots, though I didn't spot him.
Anyway, pleasures for today!
1) A lie in.
2) Porridge for breakfast and listened to the Archers omnibus.
3) Got a few jobs done.
4) Sister liked my idea for a hen afternoon party and has only gone and booked it!!
5) MrN came round to offer me his old waterbut (t) which I was glad of as the tap leaks on mine. He has also noticed the damage to his chimney and someone is coming to fix it this week.
6) Sons came back from their father's.
7) Made some flapjacks.
8) Stove going well and I finally got round to ordered some more logs. Only 1 tonne burned so far this winter. So cold last winter I got through 4 tonnes!0
