Hugs sparrer, my heart still aches for my fur babies lost 2 and 5 years ago.
xxSIMPLY BE-££577.11:eek:
Very BNPL - £353.000 -
Sparrer - I am sorry to hear your news
((hugs)) xx
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
A few pleasures from my very short day ...awake between 1-7am and asleep from 7am to silly o'clock in the afternoon .
Bit more gardening done, warm this afternoon 26o , trying to rid the veg patch of all the weeds that grew when we were away. We have a persistent little weed that keeps appearing. Not sure what it is, other than annoying .
We are in for a hot spell so want the water to water plants only and not weeds. We use rainwater collected in very large water butts ( thankfully already in situ when we moved here) and I use our clean shower water to water my tubs at front door.
Today's harvest was a courgette and green beans.
Walked up to library and borrowed a couple of books. It was blessedly cool in there.
Made a chilli using said courgette and chopped green beans in the rice.
Cooked some plain minced beef at same time that will go in freezer for another day. For some reason known only to the supermarket a KG of minced beef was £4.99 instead of usual $10.99. I've been able to get 3 meals for 5 out of it by bulking out with veggies.
Met someone who used to be a customer at old old work, had a chat with her which was nice.
That's about all my pleasures of a little short day.
sparrer warm hugs just for you.0 -
Waitrose shoppers are getting a free bottle of champagne with online orders over £50 if that's of any use any of you waitrose shoppers!
I've just been having a mooch around their website for recipes.0 -
Oh sparrer, I'm so sorry to hear about Yang.
Big hugs to you.
Back after a very long break!0 -
Just ripping through as quickies today.
see the rainbow has bought another piece of fur for the pot. :heartpuls to those who wanted one anyway.
5 Raffles is sleeping on top of the boiler, actually it gets quite warm in there so I think he is at home.
4 Emergency message from BoPsie. raffles toy has been evicted from our house and is in the yard. Must had gone hrough the bat flap
3 Raffles has inspected his paradise, and dabbed the badger that is in the yard. Big dab and facial. keeps him happy anyhow.
2 gether with BoPsie last night. We had Jelly as dessert with tea. Wobbled a bit, but nice.
1 Have we indeed made it fairer.
Notes on & ignore button!0 -
You know when you've been away too long!
VickyA - I found the Book People catalogue to be able to razor into my wallet. Either embrace very well read austerity or open the bank statement First... HM Carrot & leek soup sounds delicious! What to do in the garden? Me, I look at the rain, shrug & return to the sofa. I don't mind planting in the rain but I object to weeding in it. Tennis? I'll pass the idea on to the Bursar, even though mine have all left! Mango & Lime Yoghurt cake?!
Purple kitten - glad to see you back & safe from harm from the weather so far! You know you're back when the laundry pile seems to consist of every stitch you own. Paperwork expands to fill the space available... Nothing wrong with a restful day (although loads of washing done doesn't sound that Restful!) & enjoy the pud!
Frith - enjoy the sausages & mushrooms! Pilates trousers found you? and an Angora sweater - oooh, lovely, especially in the coolth! Well done on all the mortgage work & the Pilates class but above all on 9 years sans ex!
Caterina - wonderful family time, even if occasional snoozing! Hurrah on getting additional funds to reinforce these moments. Yoga can also be a family thing? Keep it noncompetitive!
Tealady - went back to sleep?! Stellar! Must try this short list idea at weekend (back in harness now.) I have not just a packed lunch, but leftover stew awaiting lunchtime! (yumm!) My lot seem to notice when I use fridge lurking morsels - must add more chilli powder... With you I couldn't take my shoes to a charity shop. Even the boots that leak are my slippers!
Broomstick - phew, thought I was in for a crisis of faith! I'm part of a circuit of techie bibliophiles & thus can access new kindle releases easily. It does keep me out of bookshops & eases me around charity shop shelves, but if a child needs a book, then there's no question... Right with you on squirreling & forgetting - I now deploy an inquisitive child to locate things... All the best with the weather! Right with you on driving on flooded roads. Very disconcerting. What is wrong with your mobile that duct tape & polyfilla are required?! (Ah, I have misunderstood - Phew!) Using exisiting clothes as patterns? Now that makes sense. Fabric larder? Good call!
kittikins - big test on first day back pulled by eldest's maths teacher too! Massive shock to system all round as scores 10-28%! Well done seeing donkey & updating family diary & apply for that job - cheek or not, budgets are tight & thus you may have a better chance than someone more qualified & expensive! Aim high!
sparrer - inspired, I had a dekko at my larder & it's all pointed at the frying pan. What else to do with chopped ham & pork?! Love your gardening technique! Croatia! (But dead right, no thanks to scooters!)
Oh my dear. So sorry Yang left you. Big(sparrer)Hug
DD - don't scare me away from a good crib service! Blimey those Angels scare the whatsits out of me & I was raised on Daleks! Frankincense and myrrh joss sticks? Wow! Split mouse mat will make sense in time but software between ears slower to update... Hurrah for credit on creditcard!
katykicker - hurrah for Skype! All washing done?! (My lads can exhume a sock etc anytime I try for that claim...)
mhagster - welcome home, even if you're not yet on Aus o'clock. Elm scatterings courtesy of possums & high winds? Eek mosquito time... Laundry on line?! Daren't! Second Tomato, and rhubarb! Yippee on supermarket mince price!
Ampersand - you wonder you! Truffling the delights into treasures as well! Hurrah for research and for the hindbrain that says Like. And lets the rest of the brain catch up. Feeding gulls? Braver woman than I! They are so loud, & get in my hair... Atta girl to find & delight in memory bank gold! Spatchbocked poussin rehoming superb!
lovefullshelves - wearing a dress!? Steady the buffs! Go on - what's impossible pie?! (If my lot thought it contained broccoli it would be impossible to get them to eat it.) Yeay Proud Mummy - dead right too!
VJsmum - you hauled them off only to have them handed back? Owch! Love Barb's money idea - what a wonderful way to remember & appreciate someone! Don't miss the decorations too hard - plan to enjoy adding new ones! Have stashed carrot cookie recipe - thank you! You bring in cake, you come home with birthday vouchers - there's another recipe we need please!
BoP - It wasn't that blue as Mondays go, but my word it was wet. Which Western did you watch? (Boys slightly more into SF as westerns with more exotic clothing. Then eldest wants a red Union suit, With Flap, for his birthday...!) Sounds like you've the heating sorted even if not the yellow stuff! Raffles has the boiler covered.
bagpuss - glad to have you back & so pleased! Rough to work over the fun but pays off in money & time-and-a-half as well as not overeating!
Chickenopolis - Don't worry about Saint P - he'll understand even if your line manager took the mick. What to do with all those wonderful hours? I think our WW2 heroes are exactly that & regret the closure of the Servicemens Club. OK it was loosing money, but it was somewhere those who'd been in uniform could be understood & some of our younger troops need a place like that to come back to. Aww terrier being terrier & reaping rewards of same - Bath! Hurrah for the course!
lav1979 - welcome! Well done finding the Pandora rings & the address will show up sometime!
Cnom - life improves once livestock back in school. Routines reemerge, hurrah, almost as good as snowdrops! Farmsfoods is the place with the Nicky looroll, yes? (Said to be the best wipe for the money - whrn I find a store I can get the car near, I must try!) Chicken mince, eh? Must try that! Duct tape on the drawer.
CCP - soggy timbers land on your landlord, and all the very best of luck with the interview! Enjoy that nice Mr.Bryson & try not to worry... Dear Gods the weather- and then an anticlimactic interview. Um?! Yippee medics beginning to figure things & oh please let treatment start soon!
Teacher2b - being back in school is good. Routine is very comforting after weeks of free for all liberty! Have fun with the CDs!
Skint yet Again - tears are good for you. Counting blessings also good for you! Rousing cheers at paying off creditcard bill & hope you get a few more (manageable) hours!
mculloch - You've been Reorganised?! Owch...Still, so much Will keep til Easter there's no point worrying at it!
OS Pleasures recently
Seeing my lads back to school all neat & washed & brushed - novel as I usually see them at end of day when they're none of the above.
The fire alarm test. Very loud, very unexpected &, with hindsight, very funny.
Back in office! It's not totally unlike the Unseen University - dried frog pills in plain view - and after an extended fortnight of family to be back playing by HR rules...
My future includes clear soups. How *do* you mock a turtle? (OK, it's an obvious joke for a pleasure but what a "clear soup" actually consists of, I don't know. I'm learning!)
Forgot to set my alarm - woke up nicely in time anyway!
Sometimes, harness is just wonderful. All I'm expected to do is pull. All high expectations of wife & mother allowed to fall away so long as the mortgage is paid.
Building lights reflected in the fast moving river rippling prettier than anything I saw on a tree this year.
Let's hear it for the boy! I got back home despite car playing up & as I staggered through the start of day routines he found & brought me WD40! No problems running - but engine light still on.
Paving shiny in streetlight - decorative & useful - dark flat bits are puddles!
Air rage Ireland: http://www.irishtimes.com/news/crime-and-law/ralph-lauren-s-niece-to-be-sentenced-tomorrow-for-air-rage-1.1647059 just weak at the location!
Ripples in the river today still pretty but milder until 3 geese left trails!
Colleague brought daughter to work - as (20-something) daughter has dental appointment! Lovely lass, not overtly terrified.
Clobbered a code problem & sent results over to happy colleague - very nice to be appreciated!
Big hugs to all who need them, courage & good friends all around us & hurrah the wind is dropping a bit.0 -
Good evening all!
What is the ignore button thing you are all talking about please ??
DfV - thanks I plan to pretend it's Christmas again - minus the decs, tree but still have lots of food ..:rotfl:
5 for today
1. Work ok.
2. Colleague at work said that whilst she was staying at her daughters house she picked up a glass and drank from it stating to her daughter that it had a funny taste. Daughter said its had Olbas oil in it. Colleague was then dutifully named Olbas Dumbledore :rotfl:She can take the mickey taking.
3. Rice mushrooms and rtc prawns for tea.
4. Neighbour sent me back a card saying that it was ok that the muddy terrier ran into her clean house after I had written an apologetic note to her last night.
5.Annual leave tomorrowsorry Skintos..
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
LFS: The food order sounds interesting.
CCP: Really hope the camera is able to provide some answers to your sister after all this time.
1. I managed to get a doc apt today a pleasure as I have pneumonia again but caught the signs hopefully quick enough to stop the hospital stay,:T some antibiotics and anti sickness things fingers crossed it takes affect very soon I will take it easy and a few days off work, plus quite honestly I’m a bit of a state at the moment not great to be about with a hacking cough and various expletives from me about the pain.:rotfl:
2. I boiled up some eggs to make egg mayo, with eggs we were given in Wales from a friend to find 2 of them where double shelled, I thought I was going mad as I swear I had just de shelled it.:p
3. I’m on the sofa wrapped up in a fleece blanket and an old fashioned book DB gave me, as he thought it would be right up my street after he read it, and he’s right.:)
4. I won a bottle of brandy though was a bit perplexed when it arrived today out of the blue, I remember entering a raffle but there was no clue when it arrived as to why it was here, which is lovely.:D
5. I am looking into some courses which is a bit of fun, wonder when to tell DH he’s booked onto Reflexology with me…:rotfl:
6. A casserole is slowly cooking away.
7. Watching all of the birds re discover the feeders again, the garden was in fluxed.
8. Sherlock on I player I am addicted a wonderful series.:j:j0 -
1) Had a visit from my LL's contractor, who had clearly been primed to expect a minor leak and a bit of fuss about not very much, so his horrified "oh my god, it's sodden in here" was particularly satisfying.
He's going to report back to my LL that an urgent repair is needed, and has promised to give up his weekend to get it done if necessary. :T
2) The dialpad on my landline phone has died, and I was planning on getting another one and complaining a little about having to pay for something I barely use when I remembered that I have load of unspent points for shop scanning. A new phone is now on its way, at the cost of £0. :money:
3) Spoke to my sister on the phone and she sounds fairly cheerful, although still more breathless than I like, and we had a suitably daft conversation about the camera tablet (does anyone else remember the film Inner Space? We were thinking along those lines!).
4) Used up some LO pastry and some RTC cheese to make a cheese roll-type thing to go with the last of the pea and ham soup for tonight's dinner.
5) Isis and her new ball.
PK - hope the tablets do the trick for you asap.Back after a very long break!0
