Welcome, new names!
Fell asleep in the chair again, so some pleasures before bed. Thank you for yours. Love reading about Ampersand's 'truffles'. We have no heirlooms other than a 60s vase and bowl of my Mum's, (sister has all the rest of Mum's stuff, and rightly so) but I love reading of discoveries.
1. Same as VJsmum, saying goodbye to my Christmas decorations for another year. I'd put them up earlier than usual, in early December, the right decision, as having them up for nearly a month meant I took real pleasure in them.
2. Dr C. is managing well off the cigs so far. He was very busy in the kitchen earlier, 'reorganising'. I will have to remember to allow an extra ten minutes when cooking meals to find everything.
3. Magazine arrived in post, hopefully normal service will be resumed.
4. Friend has invited me to lunch on Wednesday, X fingers that the weather is okayish for cycling. If not, I'll burn off a few more calories battling a headwind.
5. Lots of NSDs, as the groaning fridge and freezer gradually empty.
I put this as my status on FB and it got a large number of likes: "Am I the only person looking at the 'Best Before' dates on unopened boxes/jars/packets of Christmas goodies and thinking 'That will keep until Easter?' (April 20th, this year.) Same story, every year! I would have sworn I bought much less, too... "Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
CCP - good luck today xx Not sure I would be that willing to pay my rent as LL has not filled his obligations to you ....
Skintos ((hugs))
ampersand - True OS pleasures x:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Not sure I can make 5 as I really haven't been awake that long!
Woke up at 7 am and phoned friend back home and then climbed back into bed and got up at 4pm. That is shockingly bad....however , I'm hoping that I have caught up on the sleep I have missed out on!
Pottered about in the veg patch, watering and weeding and putting tomato plants around canes ...picked tomato number 2. There are loads on the plants just need to ripen but hopefully now they are more upright the sun will ripen them. Picked some rhubarb too.
Finished the book I've been reading for what seems like ages. My niece lent it to me....oops!
CCP hope your job interview goes well!0 -
See the chill is coming, so put the log on the fires. And burn. Talking of that, the local club house website has been awash with vent and fury. The coven has been meeting and burning torches and buckets of tar will block the paths along the hill on Thursday evening. Should be a good one then.
Good luck to CCP, cross the black cat on the way!
5 DD I see that a mariner leg end has become manager of Torquay United. Ex of the school of BoP, and taught at infant school by the late mother of BoP.
4 Ms BoPsie was trying to catch her BoP out with that, but BP is far too clever to be tripped up. Any how, she has bin on the last of the Christmas sherry and her day dreams are fantastic. Just this morn she was moaning again about her bike and the path being blocked and the trees up rooted. I just said keep off the barley, dear!
3 Not nice having porage thrown at you!
2 gether with Ms BoP tonight. Forgets a pleasure as well, being snoggled up and watching bumph on the iPlayer (No TV Tax paid)
1 When you walk into the pub, your glasses steam up. Without them your vision is blurred.
Oh and & with Eusabio up as well, we need a columnist up here to open the gates.0 -

Afternoon all, and many thanks for all your kind good wishes. My main pleasure for today was getting to Southampton in one piece, in some of the worst conditions I've ever had to drive in - at one point visibility was down to only a few yards, with the wind pushing the car sideways at the same time - all I could do was keep the car between the white lines and pray it stopped raining soon!
After that, the interview was a bit of an anticlimax - it went quite well, but I didn't get the feeling at the end that they were intending to make me an offer. I'll know for sure by the end of this afternoon, but I'm not holding my breath, and I'm not that bothered, tbh - I wasn't 100% sure about the job, and was treating it simply as interview practice, having not done one in many years.
Kittikins - go for yours - why not? As you say, it's good practice if nothing else, and you may be pleasantly surprised!Back after a very long break!0 -
((CCP)) glad you got home in one piece ! Even if you don't want the job it would be nice to get an offer
Heard on the radio this morning that yesterday was Blue Monday, so that sort of explains a few thingsJust post xmas/new year blues and missing my family I think, thanks for all your concern and hugs helped
Pleasures:
1. not a bad sleep in the end
2. first day back at work went ok
3. have put in a request to do more hours at work. Fingers crossed. Extra money would mean having a bit of a life rather than just existing. Have to be sensible though as don't want to worsen my rsi so still part time
4. been for another walk, sun was shining ... but blimey its breezy
5. have paid off my huge credit card bill - new tyres, car insurance, new boots, fridge freezer, all xmas pressies..... so glad that's done and glad I saved enough over last 12 months to cover it all

Wow what a day!
1 got up and woke the two tornados up! The night before I tried parting my hair twisting my hair away from my face and then wrapping into buns so I didn't have to use heat on my hair and save time styling. Went well will do the same tonight
2 school run and was on time for ds1's first day at school. He was excited to see his friends.
3 went to tesco To grab essentials even though doing a fiscal fast il have to start again now lol. I saw a pair of boots for myself which will do for winter with a bit of grip on them reduced to £5 was a bargain as they were £18!!!
4 emptied freezer and re organised it, some hidden treasures in there, ds2 ate a cheese n bacon pasty I found in there. I bagged all sauces together so I'm not fighting to find what I need.
5 located minced chicken in the freezer and decided to do a high protein spag Bol instead of using beef, knobodys has noticed and it was cheaper than using beef. I get my chicken mince from an Asian supermarket.
Chucked all ingredients in slow cooker and with their being 800g of chicken mince I've got enough for tonight, Thursdays cottage pie and next weeks chilli.will bag when it's cooled adding the extra ingredients and freezing it so all I have to do is take it out the freezer n into sc.
6 cleaned everywhere and mopped, put the washing away.
7 mother dearest popped by for a cuppa n natter as she was passing.
8 picked ds1 up from school and he had a lot to talk about!
9 sons wolfed dinner down and now having a chocolate mousse for pud.
Me no pud for me but il have a brew instead.
Any ideas for my freezer as I have a draw front that's broken? I hate them plastic drawers grrrr!Ds2 born 3/4/12 8lbs 8.5:j
Ds1 born 28/4/07 9lb 8 :j
Frugal, thrifty, tight mum & wife and proud of it lol

CCP: So glad you got there and back in one piece, you never know.;)
1. Rested pretty much all of today:o
2. More loads of washing done
3. Did a cheat dinner just easy spag carbonara.:p
4. Animal cuddles.
5. About to pop out to a monthly meeting held each month, and looking forward to getting back later as we have a Christmas pudding and baileys cream to use up,:rotfl::o:o0 -
No word about the job, which I think confirms my suspicions about the outcome!
A couple more pleasures for today:
The doctors seem to have finally come to a decision about what's wrong with my sister. :j They're waiting for the outcome of one more test - a mini camera which she swallows and which then films her insides, which is quite ingenious - and, as long as that confirms it, they can then start treatment at long last. :j:j
I bought Isis a replacement for her favourite ball, which was whirlwinded to death, and the new one is just as popular as its predecessor.
Have a good evening, all!Back after a very long break!0
