Sounds perfectly timed bagpuss, what a lovely boost! You can call on it as a tucked-away pleasure to think about from now until July whenever you need an 'up' moment to offset something less so.
    Happy Day!

Evening all, I have spent the majority of the day horizontally. Labyrinthitis visited yesterday evening and has been here all day.

Staggered to medical appointment with OH, staggered to salon for eyebrow wax( ouch) and that's as much as I've done today.

However , I suppose if I have to look for a pleasure in labyrinthitis it was I wasn't at work, the last few times I've had it I've had to go into work and feel dreadful, so I was able to lie flat in between appointments.

Managed to eat mince pies....tis only DD1 and I who like 'em!

Made a very delicious chilli beef for dinner, using rtc beef from freezer.

Apparently we will officially be meeting DS's girlfriend as she is joining us for our m-early Christmas this Sunday.....asked him if he had warned her that we are slightly crazed. He had!

Been chilly and showery but managed to get a load of washing dried.

    Have a lovely day :)
  • CCP... thinking of you and your sister.. I hope she has a diagnosis and treatment soon to get well again x

    1. felt a bit better yesterday so headed into town to try and get a few pressies.

    2. Got DS a couple of tshirts from primarni for his holiday to S Africa in february, one of which was reduced to £2. He's very picky when it comes to TShirts but he actually liked 2 of them. 1 to go back for a refund

    3. got my car insurance renewal and it actually cheaper than last year... yay!! Phoned them to check a few things and managed to get them to reduce the price more, so went ahead and renewed. I usually shop around every year getting quotes to try and get a better price and never beat their quote so I am not going to bother this year ... save myself the stress

    4. phoned round for new back tyres and after a bit of bartering got them for £146 ..... cheapest deal down from £170

    5. DS passed his fitness test for police special constable :j

Feeling a bit under the weather again today. Think I overdid it yesterday, so I feel a healing day coming on. May pop out this afternoon but am going to leave rest of xmas shopping till tomorrow. Am off work until Thursday

I'm so envious of that, ccp! Just lurve scalpelly filleting text and deep-mining, lifting to the light, each and every nuanced and submerged lit.crit layer. No wonder 'palimpsest' is a favourite word of &.

You wouldn't like to do mine for me then, would you? I hate hate hate textual analysis - it bores me silly and always has. :( Luckily it's only 500 words, with the main bit of the essay on the development of a character from the play from the 5th C BC onwards, which is far more interesting (to me, anyway!).

CCP - fingers, toes, & eyes crossed for your sister - hoping a spell at home has boosted her for this next round at the medics' mercy. Tudor Farm splendid, a proper reward for another 500 words on the analysis of a Greek Play (which?)

It's Hippolytus by Euripides - really cheerful stuff, like all of his plays. :undecided (For anyone lucky enough to have never read any of Euripides' plays, they're seriously bleak, and this one is particularly so. :()
Back after a very long break!
  • Wow Bagpuss congrats.

    For yesterday
1.Work was OK, nice to go in and the decorations were on the desks.
2.Paid in a couple of cheques.
3.A bowl of spaghetti for dinner
4.Came home to all sorts of kitchen things to decide on, we need to shop for a fridge freezer and oven now and I’ve spotted a lovely purple one, but trying not to go on colour.;);)
    5. MSE saved me £20 on a christmas present buy just remembering to shop around, of course more mse would have been to save it all which was also a wee bit tempting…;)
    For Today
1.Went for a walk at lunch nice to get exercise and air, well read into that I was fed up with the office..:rotfl:
2.Not very mse but food shopping tonight turned into ordering in takeaway with a voucher:o, so food shopping moved to tomorrow night.:rotfl:
3.Had 5 things for sale on fleabay and all sold well, 3 things have been picked up already.:j And a long list of things to put on in the new year as we have fun out of time this side of the festivities.:p
    4. DHs present has arrived in many part over the past few days and he spent today assembling and drilling holes in the car to fit things, he’s grinning.:T

Bagpuss, that's such a lovely treat from out the blue.:D
Skint, well done to that boy on passing his fitness test.:T
Ampersand, thanks for the link to the Cottrell Boyce.:)

I am feeling worried sick. Bestmost friend has just had a fasttrack recall to the hospital next week. We can both see where this is heading... I am very grateful to all of you for all your pleasures. They are a very big safety net of positivity at times like these.

    My five pleasures for Tuesday:

    1. Having another nice bowl of porridge and treacle for breakfast. (I'm ignoring the treacle in terms of weight loss because it's transparent so can't contain too many calories :rotfl:) I'm feeling the cold so much at the moment that I think I will move onto porridge for breakfast every day until the spring.:D

    2. DS2 is suspiciously huggy at the moment. I keep asking him what it's all about - I even suggested that it might be because he's cold and needs a warm up - but all he does is giggle. :rotfl:

    3. Just realised that I have the next Choir episode to watch and that the next episode of Last Tango will be available later tonight as well. Escapism.

    4. Being out in the garden picking rainbow chard by torchlight to add to the stirfry when DS1 gets back from the gym. Crikey it's cold out there.

    5. Went to find the new tree decorations I'd bought- we always get a couple of new ones each year and these are a peacock and a penguin from Oxfam - and I found a stray £1 coin on the shelf with them. It's gone in the pot as have a load more pennies into the pennies pig.

Sweet dreams and snuggle up warm

Yellow stuff, termites. Miracles and lice. Yes DFV cricket challenges aloud. Ms BoP not happy. Thinks she needs a chinny spine rub.

BagPuss on tour, big wheels galore!
    Sisters.mthinks of em all.
    Mince pie crunch, hospitals lunch.
    W8flower shops, goods to drop.

PM 2 DD UTM (Clinical background noise at The Theatre of Fish this eve)

5 Sat with Ms Whack. Listening to the great Lord Tondeur of the Theatre of Fish.

4 Looking or me pencil earlier. Was ere. But then heard, herd, Raffles ruffle. He has it. Run run run, and the fut control is brilliant.nmind you, he is demolishing cans. Local vermin now reduced to the back field. Is eying the trellis. Think any lander here may be doomed.

3 My bun day at work the morrow. 2 clubs each with tea.

2 this is an occasion to share. And show you care. Poor chaz. Not very well up north. Old boss. Bit older than your handsome BoP. Hanging in. Think notice may come soon!

    1 Keep your distance.
  • Scrabble Latest.

Ms BoP started well, but had a challenge on her score early. Was well in the lead, scoring a couple out of the grounds, but pegged back in okay, by putting a unregistered word dor.

With light fading, Ms BoP was 28 in front, but a late surge in a jig jot got BoP back in the game. Left with a blank, Ms BoP is nine in front, BoP left with a blank, and I and S. ms BoP has three tiles left.

BoP as spotted a blank A on the bored and puts down VISA.

Victory, by 1 on count back.

Good job Dog House has bed warmed?
  • ampersand - dratted machine giving grief? You saw a Saatchi-ganger? Yikes!
Kittikins - I think children Need to be unplugged from time to time! Minecraft makes my skin creep. Boy can have card school after he's finished Minimus 2!
Frith - "I know" - best put-down ever! Brother sounds a fabric monster, but well done getting him sorted!
DD - love the penicillin joke! Buckfast a very acquired taste but if aqu, howlingly awkward. wrapping ho!
Sparrer - bless you! Saves me considering if I should try! EDC in vacuum? Hm - wonder if that would work with essential oils?
mcculloch - the turmeric link looks very interesting, thank you! I've 2 expired Ald! vouchers - 3rd time's the charm...
    bagpuss - sounds a winning 40th (sure it won't expire?) *&* children's party?! Cor!
lovefullshelves - laughter is vital! Baths are good too - handfuls of seasalt to exfoliate legs with?
mhagster - bother this labyrinthitis! How soon will it go away? Hurrah for mince pies & carefully briefed guests!
Skint yet Again - hurrah for reduced insurance & new back tyres - well done! Healing day strongly indicated so you can celebrate DS pass...
CCP - Hippolytus, eh? Ripping dysfunctional family stuff - they start what Emmerdale etc continue but with fewer story arcs & more religion. Mate did Medea & had hair-raising quotes pinned up on the wall for years. Holding your sister in my heart.
Purple kitten - decorations at work are good. Assembling presents is part of the fun.
Broomstick - So sorry to read about your friend. Porridge is wonderful stuff. Rainbow chard by torchlight is a special love.
BoP - Raffles & the pencil have me chuckling & I love the idea of "bun day!" <reads on> Oh Dear....

    OS Pleasures
It's dark enough in the carpark to be stargazing - 2 satellites visible without any kit other than the eyeballs (& a smartphone app that ID'ed them)!

There's a rope dangling by the office window - I hope it means the window cleaners are coming! Fun to watch. (Not in the phwoar sense, just delighted to see an alternative job that looks both intriguing & hellish.)

Planning a Costco run. I do enjoy making lists. There are a few items I'll call to check are still in stock - I want San Pellegrino limonata for my festive fizz!

Be still my beating heart - Ian Hislop on the radio - even hawking the Private Eye annual, his intelligence twinkles through. <lovelorn sigh>

Husband & metalworking pal have agreed a price on a (period authentic) knife blade & given all he's put up with this year, it's the right Christmas present. He's hell to shop for, but now beaming in happy anticipation...

Big hugs & healing days to all who need them, hwbs likewise & for some folk, Seizing The Moment is the only way.
