    Hullo peeps,

Been poorly with nasty head cold thingy.
Sleep has been my friend :).

Feel I was a bear in a previous life as I would love to hibernate.

    Saturday pleasures:

    1. A very long lie in, much needed.
    2. A slow pootle to the library, got some fantastic books, perfect for snuggling up under my duvet.
    3. Watching Arthur christmas with the little 'uns.
    4. Homemade popcorn, always taste better than shoppy stuff.
    5. Harry potter, love all the books and films :)

    Sunday,

    1. Church, dont go often enough, but always seem to feel better when I have gone.
    2. Mince pies and tea, I plan to eat as many as I can love them lol
    3. Todays movie the polar x press sweet film.
    4. Christmas lights, sitting here amid a riot of colour and flashing. (The lights not me ;) )
5.Gammon, chips, egg and pineapple, cooked by the hubster, yummy.

Festive hugs or just glad tidings to you all xx
    SIMPLY BE-££577.11:eek:
    Very BNPL - £353.00:o
  • :question:Has anyone here by chance ever had acupuncture and have any opinions on it? Physio has suggested acupuncture to help sciatica, but to do it I will need to overcome my “rational” needle fear.

Thanks Skint feeling I am more chilled.:)
    Chicken? Hope you’re alright chook.
LFS: Sounds like DS has set you a challenge…:)
    A bit of a mixture
1.Sent a surprise gift to a friend who was so kind to us after an accident earlier in the year, got a call and had a lovely catch up, they are thrilled.:)
2.Shopping when there is christmassy music to accompany you is nice, bought MIL and her husband a lovely set of gloves for heat packs
    3. Kitchen creation of the day, err it’s’ bread pud with bananas, walnuts, choc chips, goodness knows it might be edible.
    4.Healing time on Sunday, ;)
    5. Using a lovely covent garden soup, picked up cheap of course, and leftover chicken created a mash topped pie, should be hopefully low in calories and tastey still cooking away at the moment.:)
6.Splashed out on a couple of kindle books that a cheaper today but still cost a couple of pennies.
7.Left over advent chocolates nom nom.:rotfl:

    1) Nice lie-in this morning with a feline hwb stretched out against my leg.

    2) NSD and NPD.

    3) Got another few hundred words of essay done - I'm finding this one really hard going for some reason. :undecided

    4) Managed to keep the CH switched off all day, thanks to a fleecy blanky over my knees and feet.

    5) I'm feeling rather lazy this evening, so dinner will be some of the sausage casserole from last night, with some garlic bread from Friday night's takeaway.
Back after a very long break!

    1. Appreciated bus pass hier, leaving car under hedge at top of village. So to Library and a few other things, BUT caf! machine, to which I had been looking forward @ little w8rs broken:eek:. So thrown by lack of late arvo free caffeine regroup that I also nearly missed bus stop, unless that was more due to deeply reading new book.... Pleasure? Well, at least THAT didn't happen.

    2. An extraordinary dream from last week came again and I was pulled so wide awake[plus more lamentable cricket]was then reading from 0230h. It's lead to a decision.

    3. Headed to Trumpers carboot thinking 'in France this time last week'. Good talks and humour with M, with H, with R, from whom I bought 5 lots of big new soap powder and detergent, all house clearance leftovers, but that £2 spend will last for months. V. pleased. Nothing for Spits found today, despite vast overspill using extra 1/2 carpark. Some rather sad and desperate looking stalls, sign of times, I fear.

    4. Revamped big w8rs stuffed. Initial reservations following all-change from a fortnight back are confirmed today. A distinct freezing draught enters via the remainder of the big window. Because of extra and longer chiller and freezer aisles, icy air is major in-store currency. And this is a Guess Who? alert:

    Did the 3for2, natürlich:D

    5. Not long in from Cristingle. Why I checked Church gate en route out this a.m., I know not, but saw it was on at 16h. Glad I went. Needed more Vicar's Christmas cards to deliver, which I've just done. No idea how I miscalculated so badly i.e. by about 20:o .

    6. Toulon won, just. Off-day for twinkle-toes.

ccp- thankyou for Simon's cat, which I love. I'm looking at the others; never heard of him before. Presumably Ms W and Chef Rafales are not permitted to watch.

bop - please don't adjudge me trite if my thanks for your Bronowski link follow straight on. I remember The Ascent of Man from over 40 years ago.,,,plus ça change.

Others have started asking: I too have been thinking about you tealady, chicken and also lisakay.

bagpuss, re: 'Church, don't go often enough, but always seem to feel better when I have gone.' I feel this these days too. Certainly wouldn't be happening without new Vicar which must make me shallow, I dare say.

kittkins - you ARE doing a great thing and you will make it all the way.

More exciting early bed, book, hwb....can't wait.
More great Cabin Pressure and isihac today - yumyum.

Quiet minds and peaceful hearts partout....which will feel all the more so after this:

CCP - glad to hear Isis has you well in hand! Tree up? Well done! Pork & apple casserole sounds wonderful. Clean sheets! Good on you wrestling with the essay.
VickyA - "Loyal to most supermarkets" has me chortling! I'm a big fan of Harry - not just because he reinforced exisiting friendships with midwife and others but also as he was the gateway reading for all three sons. Huge relief!
ampersand - "all wrong things supper" sounds delicious, better still cooked in butter! Christingle? Glorious! May have to see if little Waitrose has that! Thank you!
VJsmum - right with you on the upsides of teaching the same thing repeatedly. Hurrah dad dry!
Kittikins - so glad you love teaching maths & hurrah Daughter's triumph over crossword! Christmas will be more fun with a book of crosswords to solve. Fete went OK despite frenetic socialising? Babe is wonderful. Car washed? We had rain. With you on Thinking about inside... <and flinching TBH>
Broomstick - hoping you haven't got the bug & the drive goes OK. You certainly took the right kit! <ponders small hwb in emergency kit for car>
sparrer - your cards done? <awe> and Three Christmas Dinners planned for?!
Frith - happy school taking your good work forward & love the idea of brother sat on top of the chimney - not because there is finite space, but because it's a lovely idea (make him wear red next time?!). Smaller son clearly wonderful - letting a Lego man go is major generosity of spirit!
DD - enjoying listening to your advent as my lot dodge the cameraphone. Sorted work emergency and book club care & feeding ?! Brilliant! Posties always arrive at an ungodly hour when you least expect it.
mcculloch - decorations sorted properly & turmeric as an anti-inflammatory - hurrah & thank you as I think you've helped me help a colleague. I can bring hope, for a start!
lovefullshelves - get the sleep in! OH snoring in the bath <why?> Lists essential for peace of mind, even if Not Actually Followed. Highland cows lovely on hoof & on plate. Imminent bath?! (Decorations come a poor third to a good tub!)
mhagster - annual Christmas meal sounds a cheery Baccanal! Pasta with bacon & mushrooms sounds heavenly, not frugal at all!
Skint yet Again - glad the healing days are working! Tree lights working too - hurrah!
BoP - egg flans sounds wonderful... (Must get sons to read MSE more!)
Bagpuss - these bugs do respond to rest, but that is so hard to get! Church & someone elses's cooking sound winning ideas to me!
Purple kitten - sis had acupuncture to help quit smoking & is 3 years plus cig free - it worked for her. Healing time is the business! Kindle books & advent chocs a winning combo.

A long weekend of disorganised OS pleasures:
Family getting stuck into the Vikings TV series. Plenty of gore & violence so they think it's splendid. Happy family viewing -ish!

Grandfather consulting me on picture editing software! Not sure if I'm honoured, stunned, or both!

Husband, feeling the length of the week, has appealed for kebab. Since he's done some serious wading across the bay of E, I think we might. [Did. <Replete grin>]

Moved car for next door builders. Left my boots upstairs so Ministry Of Silly Walks time in wellies (as toes in heels IYSWIM) & even drove (very carefully!). Funny, as we survived.

Child asserting his need for the computer "for homework" before breakfast! (Just wanted to check email, we think.) I'm a Bad Example.

Oh gosh. Child not having a good morning with drinks. (Third knocked over in half an hour.) One parent & two sibs yelling & two bare to the waist (house rule - mop up First & t shirts are present & absorbent...) - all reasonably good tempered.

Ah! The SatNav has turned up (it's been missing presumed somewhere for a while) In The Proper Place! No wonder I couldn't find it... Family glee at my enhanced facial circulation, ahem.

Recognising a 'swift wool winder' in the background of inventor Daedalus' workshop in Atlantis! Wonder how many other of us spinning types will be grinning at it... (But we Welsh Castle spot watching Dr.Who, too.)

As Yet Another volcano is made, not only have materials & techniques improved but this one will have a village placed in the path of the stream. The OS pleasure is soothing howls of "run out of green" by reminding the artists involved that yellow & blue will mix.

Yeay! Car boot wins again - supermarkets haven't got them but windscreen wipers can be found at a fraction of the HalfordsRRP!

Son supervising my fitting of said wiper with a delightful mix of curiosity & approval. Even though he demanded some credit while I did the (simple when you know how) job.

Listening to Robbie take on Cab Calloway, almost note for note, & thinking it's impressively close but still Cab's. Album great fun to cook to, though.

Erf. Mondays await. Big hugs to all who need them, healing days likewise (thinking of you chickenopolis & tealady!) and let rivers of hot water flow - baths & steam & the basics of tea!

DFV, I've just joined the Turmeric Users Group on FB.
Their recommendation is that turmeric be taken with a few grinds of black pepper and olive oil for maximum benefits. It's working well already, so I can't wait. Most of the actual Turmeric Users appear to be equine. One lady posted thermal images of the improvements to her horse since he started the regime.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

    Evening everyone.

My mind's gone blank for five pleasures for Sunday but it's been a very pleasant day nonetheless.

It's been quiet and home-based and just about warm enough and not a huge amount of anything significant has happened and I've pottered getting on with bits and pieces, so I suppose that's five things - just rather vague ones! :D

    Sweet dreams

Hi folks. Dinner One down, two more to go not counting the real one.

    1. Found homes for 2 large buckets of cleaning materials, dusters etc., that emigrating friend gave me. I won't have to buy basics for a very long tome to come
    2. Washed the lights on the car, I can see where I'm going in the dark now
    3. Had an excellent meal out consisting of mushrooms in a garlic cream sauce with chunks of garlic bread, 4-bird roast and all the trimmings, followed by fresh cream profit rolls (family name for them) then mince pies and tea or coffee. Amazing food and value at £17 each in our favourite Sunday lunch pub
    4. The above was a farewell dinner for said friend. Although she's not going for 2 weeks we wanted her to have her last English Christmas before she goes to spend the next many in the sun. We managed to keep the whole thing a surprise, not bad for 18 of us, and was moved to the point of tears
    5. The sunset this evening was the most stunning I've ever seen, a deep, deep red/orange contrasting with heavy smoke grey clouds which made the sky look literally as if it was on fire. Even the landlady and two of the waiters came out to join us taking photo's of it.

    Sweet dreams :)
