I am sorry to hear that, Broomstick.
Here are my pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Sons both enjoyed their days at school.
3) Big Sainsburys shop!
4) Lunch out with mum (it's her birthday today).
5) Spent a good few hours cleaning and dusting because I never feel that I can do it thoroughly once the Christmas decorations are up.
6) Watched sons decorate the tree. It is a recycled one from a few years ago (we always buy them with roots) that was growing in my brother's wood til yesterday afternoon! So free (very MS).
7) I don't know what's happened with the Christmas lights but we have a ridiculous number of sets. Got 80 LED ones on the tree, some lovely metal cut out ones around the living room window (overlooking the road) and some headachey icicle ones over the living room window the other side overlooking the garden. Smaller son has also put another 80 coloured ones round my room!
8) Enjoyed watching Holby.
9) Also enjoyed watching Dad of Frith on Midlands Today!!
10) About to have a bath then will have a lovely baked Camembert with slices of apple as I haven't had any tea yet. :-)
and forgot 11) Did lots of present buying today and have wrapped everything up. Just Dad of Frith to go now. He has asked for something "small and interesting". Have no clue what to get!0 -
Good evening everyone :hello:
A busy couple of days for me, including a trip to my cake club last night. I made the orange and cranberry drizzle cake as there were loads of other chocolate cakes by the time I put my idea forward!
So, my 5 for the past couple of days:
1) Cake club, which meant that I came back with a tin full of other people's cakes. Nom, nom, nom!
2) Charity bag arrived through the door. It will be full of clothes by the time it's collected!
3) Lit our gorgeous candle which we bought at the Brussels Christmas market. It's soooo pretty.
4) Paid off credit card, IN FULL (shouty Martin in my head! :money:), as I do every month.
5) Out with friends on Sunday night to Pizza Express. It had been a birthday so we got a free bottle of prosecco to celebrate! All you have to do is give them your birth date when you sign up to their e-mails!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Congratulations bagpuss, you'll love it! One of those 'thought it would be boring' experiences which turned out to be so amazing I couldn't wait to repeat it
Broomstick I empathise and hope your friend's fast-track goes through as it should next week. Mine has now been delayed twice for various health reasons and my new date is 27th Dec, so I can understand your worry. I too am very concerned but what will be, will be. I'm with you on the porridge but have ff yogurt on mine, makes it lovely and creamy. I'd have treacle but DGD has all mine on toast when she visits
DFV I searched the candle cupboard for some essential oil but none to be found so used EDT as a sub, then forgot to get some when I was out today. Love seeing the satellite over the house every now and then
PK re your FF shopping, I read 'now I've a lovely purple spotted one'. It would certainly be different, wish they'd had them when I had my lilac kitchen! :rotfl:
Belated Happy birthday Mum of Frith
1. Day out shopping with DD, usually a Monday treat but neither of us were up to much yesterday
2. DD took her pup and her import to pup's first show on Sunday, pup got a first to qualify towards Crufts - just needs two more. The Jindo came 1st in the import class, so a good day was had by all
3. Got some essentials for Wednesday's fellowship social at Hitchin market. Love that place, but soooo tempting!
4. Lunch at the usual pub, had a pulled pork burger but only ate half the bun as there was so much meat and salad. It was delicious, and less than £10 for the two of us with tea and coffee.
5. Called into the bank who are happy to take my several bags of shrapnel all at once. Previous bank would only take 5 bags a day - I have about 30
6. Bought 'my' homeless man a Christmas sandwich and a cup of tea. Usually get him a hot pie but he has dyspepsia so I thought he should avoid pastry for a while
7. Did a lot of baking this evening ready for tomorrow, just the batons to do and I can't do those yet.
8. Did I mention DS is coming to visit for the weekend? So excited
Sweet dreams0 -
Wow, 12 hours marking more or less but another batch done. :T
Congratulations Bagpuss,lovely surprize
Broomstick and sparrer - hope the worries are groundless
DD - bf? Boyfriend or best friend? Have I missed something? Aren't I nosey

Nighty night allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
1. Was renamed Ms Epic Christmas by my class this morning, as I let them start the day in a more relaxed way than usual!
Taking the register was fun....!!
2. Managed to get them back on track by being Ms Grouchy Teacher when they misbehaved during my lesson, but thankfully they all did stop mucking about and I managed to not lose my temper! (So, an odd kind of pleasure, but I did chuckle inside at the look on their faces when I had my words!!)
3. Fun trip out with the choir, and another one planned for tomorrow (less fun, as 30 mins walk each way! Must remember pre-emptive painkillers!!)
4. Fun evening out....I really need to get out more....wrapping presents for each child in DD's thankfully small school, with a couple of other mummies.
5. DD's sleepover plans at her BFF's are sorted out
6. DD and I giggling so much this evening that I thought one of us might have a little accident!!
7. Counting down the days til my Christmas 'holiday' starts! Not that I won't miss being in school, but I'm looking forward to being able to have a week where I can pick DD up from school and be the one she natters to first
8. Managed to make my mummykin's computer and printer talk to each other, not the easy task it usually us, for some unknown reason!

1. It's on, splendidly, right now:

More luvly Saint Stephen of Fry.
2. broomstick - I, too, picked rainbow chard ce soir for flash cook. I love iron-y tasting veg and suddenly noticed loads still flourish when coming back in after 5.
3. Bleugh day of non-yellow thing. Can't stand it. Said so conversationally to DrS. Something will be chopped out asap, said Dr S. Unconnected. Tant mieux.
4. Otherwise, have read ALL DAY, pretty much. Will resume after this. Guiltless.
5. Did go into back field for a while to gaze off into distance, do nothing much, just a heft of mild thinking and winter-watching and very high-achieving it felt too. Leaving Surgery before 4 still meant headlights full on and I count the days, urging them on and on to be into the light.
Strongest caring for little sister of ccp, broomstick's friend, sparrer's appts' readiness........just all the healing days needed, as per skint and mhags.
Purple fridge, pk. Mmm, I'd like that.
Tealady, chicken, lisakay....absent friends. Hope all is well.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Early morning and wobbly start as we had to head in to city for early morning appointment for OH at hospital. More major surgery lies ahead at some point but we've said ..."not right now thanks" we have a whole 5 weeks off before next big decision making appointment. Thankful to surgeons/ doctors/ nurses etc for their skills and their knowledge and their kindness.
Said goodbye to OH as he went to work and I wandered down into the city ( wishing I'd worn a coat instead of just a cardi!) bought his Christmas gift. I have bought him a voucher and was given the cheaper online price even though I went in to collect it.
Went into the cathedral ...as I usually do when I'm in the city through the day. A school were rehearsing for their concert tonight. I sat quietly and reflectively and listened to their singing and readings. 2 girls sang Pie Jesu so beautifully and their voices resonated throughout the cathedral....well I just sat and sobbed! It was so beautiful. I have just emailed the school to pass on my thanks.
A police car had tinsel around its reg plate...that made me smile
Sat on steps at Federation square ( main central meeting point) and watched some hilarious street theatre. I've seen him before a few times and it was the same routine but very funny, so laughed out loud more than a few times.
Train home and enjoyed looking out the windows into the gardens! lots of jacaranda in bloom ( though seems not to be such a good year as usual) so purple ( my favourite colour) everywhere. Purple trees are amazing! Agapanthus starting to flower so more purple there!
Popped into library and borrowed some more magazines from swap basket. Such a fabulous idea....had just been topped up by the look of it!
Just missed the heavy rain ( caught in little shower) but it's brightened into a pleasant afternoon.
Having pasta for dinner.
Hugs and good wishes to all , hope poorly people feel better soon/ get diagnosis and appropriate treatments soon.
I'm starting to plan ( in my head) dinner for Saturday night ; friends coming over and M-early Christmas dinner for Sunday......tried and tested or innovative ? Dilemma:)
Have a wonderful Wednesday0 -
Now sear this!
I am having a Hedgehog day. Yeah, come feel the prickliness of unreason You can’t no say for never.
5 Gathered at the soccer field, where Bobby was cheered, or was it Boxing day in ’79 that three of them left the field? Getting old. But Bobby was cheered and he Hunted the Clerk. They all saw red that day.
4 The heat is on, but the chicken is raw out of the fire. All good for a hedgehog day. But is does not look good for the new windmill just installed down the park at the salt mine. It may not ever turn, and the wind has blown out.
3 Do not nose whther to do the spicy sausages this evening. You see, Ms BoP no like them, but I do. Snorkers in chilli tom sauce. Any how, I am just crunching on the Toasted Fox crisps. Then I have my crab claw sarnies.
2 gether with Ms BoP last night listening to the Mariners. Our new cat, Raffles is in agreement that Grimsby Town are the best thing he could ever have listened to. The crowd was a but clinical withy the referee last night though.
1 Always say hello to the next one you meet. Then you can blabber about the weather.
Got my pass out for Friday night and a couple of wobbleades. And train ticket home. Ms BoP is picking me up.0
