Yay to a warm and cosy and clean ampersand! ( though I'm sure you were clean before just not warm and cosy!
Well , it was only me that was up bright and early this morning which was nice and peaceful.
Long chat with my best friend from home, she's been on holiday and we had loads to chat about.
A hot potato kind of day 30o yikes! But so windy, we sat outside our local cafe for a cuppa and almost got blown away! Very hot but not sunny if that makes sense, has been very cloudy all day, however excellent for drying the washing!
Not a pleasure....having to do UK tax returns because we receive income from property back home .we have been going to do this for months now and it's always 'oh, next weekend!' So with time running out for a paper claim it was this weekend .
Finger nails and toe nails painted ....whilst OH did tax return:) I'm going a gallivanting tonight with main colleague and 2 who left....lovely pastry chef and one of the other girls who is from UK....taking her some UK sweets , OH brought back. Looking forward to giving her them! We are going out for
dinner and I'm really looking forward to a catch up and hopefully not too much of a biatch!
Today, 3 years ago, we arrived in Australia, bit sad , bit nervous, bit excited , big bit terrified of all things creepy and crawly.
We have made Australia our home and I am happy here. I still miss friends and family and my dog and my cats but know they are being looked after. This is the first year I've felt in touch with the seasons here ( I'm not sure that makes sense! ) but its October and spring rather than thinking oh it's October it should really be autumn! I've met some lovely people and seen some lovely places over past 3 years and I'm thankful for that. My Australian life for the most part is good
Do have a lovely Sunday...I'm off to try and squeeze into something cool yet comfortable yet dressy for dinner!0 -
ampers cake duly eaten :P
dfv cold lingers on, but i think mainly due to lack of sleep

bop points in the bag for hatters and mariners. See ya in the playoffs?
mhags well done on getting the tax return done
Today we struggle with the internet out of hungary. Mse think is OK but no facebook. So for yesterday
1) after registering at conference found myself surplus to requirements so went for a wee bit more sightseeing
2) found enormous covered market and bought paprika for folks back home; wandered down touristy road and bought self very nice scarf which i wore, the weather being chiilier than previous days
3) back for conference where very tasy lunch dutifully consumed. Gave presentation (a day early) so rather than going back in taxi to hotel to work on talk went for walk with colleague. Lovely fresh air, scrummy hot chocolate and cake :P (Not mse, but totally lish)
4) bought hungarian cook book £4 with lots of mse looking recipes
5) back to hotel in time for quick shower and cuppa then off to italian for very nice supper and bar for silly banter.
Oh good internet has been mended and have been able to do boarding pass. Get back to blighty 10 tonight.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pass the custard BoP, that looks deelish!
1. Had such a lovely, snuggly night's sleep with DD in my bed
2. Have had great fun going through mine, my mum's and DD's wardrobes to put our summer stuff awaybut such laughs, looking at some of our clothes that we rarely wear - and in DD's case, were often way too small, and we have a good haul for the charity shop and can close our wardrobes again!
3. I've got a week's worth of clothes and jewellery ready for school tomorrow
4. Have got my act together and written a personal statement that sounds intelligent and not too personal! My initial one wasn't something I'd want to share with a Headteacher, it was to introduce me to my uni tutor.
5. My lovely friend is out of hospital - hoorah!
6. NSD, NPD, not even left the house today yet!0 -
I'm having something of a down day today: I think it's just my usual autumn-itis convincing me that everything's too difficult, so why bother trying?
I'll try for five pleasures, though:
1) Woken up this morning by thunder, lightning, howling wind and torrential rain, buried my head under the duvet and went back to sleep.I later heard from my DF that Hayling Island, only a couple of miles away, got hit by a tornado, so Portsmouth obviously got off lightly!
2) Had a chat to my DM about various things, including the cat adoption visit on Thursday about which I'm having second, third and fourth thoughts - I loved Moggett dearly, but he was a hard cat on the pocket and the heart with his behavioural problems and frequent illnesses, and I'm not sure I can face putting myself through it all again. :undecided My DM reminded me that I'm not committing myself to anything by making an appointment on Thursday, and the CPL won't be offended if I get there and realise I can't face it and that getting a new cat isn't the right thing to do. It makes me feel a bit better about the whole thing, anyway.
3) Realised I wasn't going to get anywhere with my OU assignment in my current low mood, so I spent the day playing silly (free) computer games instead, as they don't need to be thought about.
4) The joint of pork I took out of the freezer for dinner hasn't defrosted, but that's fine as I don't have any appetite anyway and it will now keep until tomorrow.
5) Washed my hair and put some leave-in conditioner on it - I'd forgotten how soft and silky it makes my hair feel.
Hooray - made it to five!Busy marking - watch this space for no Sh*t Sherlock's
Yes please!Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening all
ampers ... well done to Delroy :T glad you have heating/hot water sorted
CCP sorry to hear you are feeling low, (((Hugs)))its that time of year again and the weather isn't helping is it, I am glad you missed the tornado !

DD - Hungarian cookbook sounds fab, let us know how you get on am getting quite bored with food atm
Pleasures
Sat
1. work clothes washed and dried on line. Have loads of washing backing up so will have to try and catch up
2. brisk walk and picked up some low fat rice pud half price in co op on way home
3. rest of day spent [STRIKE]lazing[/STRIKE] resting on sofa
4. eating up leftovers and not giving in to takeaway cravings
Sun
1. hearing rumbles of thunder along the coast and knowing I could stay in bed and didn't have to go out
2. rain cleared and sun came out (thanks BoP) very blowy so towels washed and dried on line
3. lovely roast chicken dinner
4. Went for a walk about 5pm when more torrential rain stopped and the sun came out. Was a bit optimistic and set off on a longer route and was regretting it 3/4 of the way round when pain kicked in and leg started dragging. Couldn't sit on benches as all soaking wet, but was pleased to finish in 45 mins. Glad I didn't see anyone I know as I was puffing and panting and bright red in the face ......very attractive !!
Lovely and warm out but very windy and fab clouds over the coastline.
