  • Bits hard to find pleasures after putting Moggsie down last night. I reckon Ms BoP will last about six weeks without a furry fiend around the pad. (odds are more likely to halve this!!!) Still Monty is now on rainbows egde. Bet the next puss is called, Monty as well! He was a rescue cat, and quite livid when he came to us in 2004. Took an age for him to settle, but he did just so. Loved cradling my arm and sucking my finger. Do not ask why!

4 Thursday is Curry day and I am going to bee sting on the chicken, rice and curly fries. No telling Lady Whack

2 nite thinks I will have to has a wobbleade or two. Maybe a token at the carvery would come in handy as well. You see, I do not get out much

1 As long as the printers create more dollars, the world continues

5 There, now having my five a day. Curry, Rice and curly fries. Roast and Roast tatties. Are you having your 5 a day. Of course, you can substitute any of mine for other delights.

3 Ways to exercise your day. Park at the back of the car park. Now only is there always a space, but the short work every day adds up. (2 minutes each way). Use the other stairs and the far away closets. You will see more people (4 mins). Walk to the town on Saturday (20 mins). Each week that is 1 hour in the free gym!

BoP - my mother did exactly the same when her last cat died - she said she wouldn't get another one for some time, but actually lasted less than two months! I'm sure another rescue cat will be delighted to make his or her home with you when you're ready.

VJsmum - no, new cat(s) won't be until next week - my appointment with the CPL is next Thursday afternoon. And DFS - it will be a maximum of two as my flat's tiny, and I'd like to have at least some space for myself. (Selfish of me, I know. ;))

    1) Finally, around mid-afternoon, came up with the word I had been trying to remember since yesterday evening. It seems a lot of effort for six letters! :o

    2) Got permission to take time off from work 'whenever' for cat adoption duties - if I turn up in the morning they'll know I'm coming to work, if I don't they'll know I'm not. It's nice to have something positive to say when it's mostly a pretty miserable place to work at the moment.

    3) Veggie soup for lunch - HM would have been more OS, of course, but it was still .

    4) Lots of helpful ideas from OSers on what to do with a piece of pork that's currently sitting in the freezer.

    5) Pub quiz tonight.
Back after a very long break!
  • Good evening all !

MissRikkiC - it was worth a try though;)

VJsmum - I live with a lawyer . He is a talker I am a "doer"( m'lud) I think he only fancied me as I am a bliddy good...... listener :rotfl:
Btw - thats a lot of xmas turkeys that you must have eaten (50)

    DfV
    - Oooh I have always fancied having a wall of photos like that. How lovely.

    5 for today

    1. Work finished until Monday :T. Enforced a scarily serious decision in order to keep a lot of people safe.. (even BoP would approve) enough said on that part.Had 10 mins in which the news was received and action had to be taken v. swiftly. I expect I did something wrong in order to get something right.:o

    2. It was a lovely day here.

    3. Fish fingers and leeks and cheesy mash for tea.

4.OH's estranged mother has just been on t.v .I had to phone him as I was sooo shocked, he was less than impressed to say the least .

5.The tiny terrier is snuggled next to me on the sofa . I kidnapped her from next door.

Have a good evening all !

Coo, a famous estranged muvva-in-law Chicken, hope she was on TV for a good reason!

Sparrer - thank you for the link, love the article and am going to email it to my English tutor x

Love the Nos. 9 and 10 Rikki :)

    1. Fabulous start to the day, reading and talking about poetry :)

    2. Fabulous end to the day, doing maths :)

(I'll draw a veil over the middle, lol. It wasn't awful, but we're all just a bit stressed out and feeling stupid!)

    3. Yummy cake at end of one of our seminars to celebrate the birthday of a chum who'll be turning 23 whilst we're at our schools.

    4. Another course chum has put a fab document online for us to help us plan our gazillion uni required tasks whilst on placement, saving us all the time and effort of doing it ourselves, what a sweetie!

    5. DD :)

DfV: Don’t worry, I have left all of that to DH who has done all of that and even now has our kitchen in Visio, I know this sounds weird but I love the idea of the finished product of the new kitchen but I am not that interested in the bits that go into getting it there, I know it sounds bad but just looking at units etc etc I find a bit hmmm really.
BOP: Feel for you and Mrs Bop, when we lost one of ours and we were left with one we felt bad but we had to let another one choose us fairly rapidly as he was pining away, I reckon we will always have animals around.
Chicken: OOOOh now I am feeling nosey on TV. It reminds me, it's weird I forgot to, mention this the other week, the night before I had actually gone to sleep thinking I wish I had more photo's of my mum, who passed away in 2001, I literally was speechless when a programme came on the bbc channels I wish I could remember what it was called now, but it had all of the film from the 1960's and seemed to be a series on it, and there she was in the title sequence doing sewing, I was on the phone to dad hoping his memory would remember and sure enough it was her. Amazing.
1.Work was ok manic for the 4 hours I was in
2.Shot off out for a check-up which was totally useless, basically keep taking the painkillers
3.Logged back on to work from home.
4.Proceeded to top and tail cleaning the upstairs of the house everything out of the bathroom cleaned back in the bathroom, windows cleaned, floors de animal furred and hovered. Tidied things away off surfaces and put clothes away to give the impression of tidy. Cleaned out the animal bedding.
5.Collopsed with a cuppa on the sofa and decided downstairs will have to wait until tomorrow.:o
6.Off to Mr T tonight as I was thinking of baking as we have visitors tomorrow evening only to find no fruit, raisins, flour, eggs or milk ops.
7.DH helped the neighbours with a boiler problem, while we don’t live in a great area it’s nice enough people feel like they can call round if needed I like that feeling I have to say.:)

    Pleasures for today!

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Sons had a good day at school. Apparently a 3rd boy is joining smaller son's base after half term and he "likes throwing everything". So that's nice...

    3) Helped brother bag up more cider apples.

    4) Went swimming.

    5) Tasty tea of HM chicken and broccoli pie.

    6) Phone call with my sister.

    7) Chat with MrN's son3.

    8) Just caught up with the last GBBO. Isn't it about time Ruby left?!

That's about it! Bigger son has a day off tomorrow (teacher training). No idea yet what we're going to do.

Hey it's Friday ! Hurrah! Hurrah!

A beautiful day, sunny and warm but not hot. Dreadful bush fires in New South Wales, so although I may have moaned about the cold at least we have not been as hot and dry as they have.

So...my work ( lack of it ) saga.....owner phoned me this morning , looks like we will be closed for 10 days ( aye right!) so therefore no pay in that time, I've decided prior to this I will need to look for another job as I'm not getting enough hours to keep up with our outgoings ( uni fees) she obviously sensed this by my evasiveness and then called me back....as I was going out to see about another job....we don't want you to leave etc.....went to see what this other place was like and handed in my cv! , had a chat with owner, who reminded me of stressy little man....he'll get back to me , might take me on a trial week etc ....but it won't be full time there either ( this is what was advertised) , then went into work ...which is just black with smoke to help do a stock take, other owner gives me the we don't want you to leave spiel ....my hours had been cut back from approx 32 to 25 , that's $600 a month .... I worked 40 a week before, a silly wee 3 hour shift in the middle of the day isn't much use to me. Anyway, owner , will ask around his friends and see if anyone is needing extra help a day or so a week. So that is where I stand at the moment....in the no mans land!

I feel sorry for them that not even 2 months after opening this fire has happened, the mess is unbelievable but I also have to look out for myself and my families needs. Because of the visa we are here on, our son needs to be in full time education and we need to pay $28000 a bloody year for the pleasure! Rant over ...there were some very nice things about my day:

    Sun shining.
Friday scone....at prospective cafe. It's in a suburb we've never been to but it's lovely and lots of lovey shops and cafes to explore. Very nice scone.

I was big and brave and drove somewhere new.....and then drove the motorway way to work. I usually go a different way and come back home that way...I impressed myself!

Took a bag of 'stuff' to charity shop, girls had a clear out of books and DVDs.

From work ....artichoke ( and a way to cook 'em DFV), duck eggs, hen eggs, salad , carrots, avocados and more avocados ...will have to make my own avo on toast now, beet root, sausages, mandarins, fresh beans and peas. These would all be chucked out by industrial cleaners over the weekend. This stuff wasn't damaged.

Then just got home and getting stuff out my car when my next door neighbour walked by. Not seen him for a while as he goes away for winter....he is 93 and quite amazing....anyway popped round his back garden for some lemons straight off the tree.

Then I weeded my veg patch....lots of chick weed type stuff growing everywhere. Still not quite sure what DD2 planted when she scattered the seed packets. Have managed to identify sweet corn and pumpkin and carrots. My first strawberries are growing, one is half red already. Rhubarb is an excellent crop this spring. It was nice to be out in the warm afternoon.

And that's been my day so far:) I have an unexpected weekend off so I'm looking forward to it , spending time with OH....kids are a - gallivanting apparently!

Happy Friday to you all :)

Oh Mhagster, it's such a shame that your lovely caf! is unlikely to be able to give you the hours you need. It sounds such a friendly place, and please try to avoid going to the caf! that reminds you of stressy man from your previous job if at all possible. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you'll find the perfect place over the weekend whilst out a-gallivanting and looking for more scones with your OH x
  • Mhagster- sending positive vibes xx

Skintos - are you ok ???

PK - thats amazing seeing your late DM on tv . Its a funny jaw dropping feeling .Funny that .. estranged M.I.L sent a friend request on FB to me after her t.v appearance ..... Difficult as I have no ill feeling towards her ,and don't wish to offend her, but not keen on her knowing what is going on in my/our life iyswim .
