kittikins i guess the thing to do is learn from how different lecturers handle daft questions?
mrc well done on the work front -these things do get noticed. Talking of which...
1) confirmation of prootion letter woo hoo. With details of pay rise which (whispers) was more than i was expecting
2) lunch with best friend who bought me lunch to celebrate 1. Chicken pakora with lovely chilli dip and a share of his chips :P
3) seminar by friend from glasgow. We had really good talk about hea accreditation, and then nibbles and wine
4) resolution to take packed lunch every day and getting unexpectedly treated meant i had pasta salad for supper. Waste not want not
5) ds drove me to hilton at edinburgh airport (with xoh as ds has driving test next month). Alarm call booked for 5am. Off for a soak in the bath.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Aw sorry BoP I didn't realise - Sweet Dream little Tiger, and Hugs.0

Sorry to hear about Monty, BoP. :-( He was a handsome chap. I shall miss his interruptions of your Scrabble games.
Blimey, MHags! Hope the insurers sort it out, will be a long job, I imagine.
Here are my pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Sons had good days at school. Smaller son has asked if he can go to the Halloween disco. This is unheard of! Staying on after school for something OPTIONAL. Something with classmates!!
3) Had my hair cut at college this morning. Was £5 today. I think the old receptionist used to not charge me for the blow drying bit (as I have such short hair).
4) Had a cup of hot chocolate in Caf! Nero's after, using my 10th free cup card.
5) Stove going well this afternoon onwards. I like the new logs but am now too hot!
6) Made chicken curry, rice and naans for tea, followed by blackberry and apple crumble.0 -
Welcome MissRickiC
What a day full of highs and lows
Monty, sweet dreams handsome lad, run free to Rainbow Bridge. Hugs BoP and Mrs BoP
DD congratulations on the confirmation of your promotion, not before time!
mhags commiserations to you and the owners of the new premises
frith well done smaller son, and the school which must take some credit for his new outlook
lfs hope all goes well at your meeting with the harridan next week
and I'd accept if there's leeks in cheese sauce chicken
1. No heating needed today as I kept warm by scrubbing the sitting room rug. Lugged it upstairs to hang over the landing bannister to dry.
2. Two afternoon meetings cancelled so I had time to spoil myself a bit, oil conditioned hair, exfoliated, moisturised top to toe, mani and pedi. Reckon I saved at least £45 by DIY-ing
3. Some more windfalls turned into puree to add to porridge etc. Still quite a few left on the tree
4. Mr M haul this evening consisted of 2 trays of large prawns for 19p each were £2.69 each, 2 dab fillets for 9p each were £2.30p each(all straight into freezer), WW wm for 15p was 90p, pack of 4 panini's 18p was £1.60p and a cooked chicken for 50p. Not sure about the dab as I've never had it before but at that price I'll love it
5. Not really OS, my new boots arrived but they were paid for by survey earnings. Still have £14 of that lot left but will put it toward the C word

I'm back with some of my Thursday pleasures....
An unexpected day off.
An unexpected Thursday scone.....went with my main colleague for a cuppa and a moan! Managed to laugh as well so all good!
Enjoying texting with OH whilst he was waiting and waiting at a hospital appointment. Although I could call him in UK I couldn't send texts which I quite like.
Wrote a list of 'to do's'...which included sweep front porch, wash front door inside and outside , tidy gift cupboard ....did all that and tidied my pantry cupboard ...again!, washed all the internal doors downstairs , washed my baking cupboard...also gave it a Hoover as hundreds and thousands scattered everywhere! , cleaned fridge & gave the iced bits at the back to my lavender plants! , put red ribbons on all my jars in the pantry cupboard ...( I know I need to get a life....or even just a job!) , swept the driveway again...with the amount of twigs and branches blown down I'm surprised I still have a tree.
Sorted through last years letters and cards and recycled a few.
Read a bit of my book.
Had some UK chocolate !
Stayed dry whilst outside was a- storming! On DD2s walk home she had wind, rain, sun, thunder ,hailstones, sun, thunder and rain so was slightly soggy! It is so windy at the moment.....and dare I say it cold!
Going to make chicken and asparagus quiche and some bread soon!
Do have a lovely day!
Well done DD and well done sparrer on your money saving beautifying! I would not have spent $50 on shampoo etc if I'd known what I know today....however.....I'm still loving my shiny brown cant see any grey hair!0 -
BoP - I am so sorry to hear your news . R.I.P Monty x:(
Sparrer - you can move in if you like
MissRickiC-:) welcome . Seems OS to me , do you loan out your OH??;)
5 for yesterday
1. Work Ok
2Difficult case conference went well
3.My cousin came round to fix my heating - some three way valve in my dusty airing cupboard .He lives two doors away so he nipped to and fro for stuff. £100 the lighter, but at least its done.
4.Quorn chilli for tea
5. Slept like a baby
Have a good day all:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Haha chicken ... Although I'd love to share he is contracted to staying with me for a while longer yet.
BOP. I'm sorry about Monty. He looked such a lovely cat, handsome and strong.
DD. Congrats on the promotion.
Yesterday's pleasures.
1. Making the bus straight off the train to my meeting meant I was only 45 minutes late
2. A nice easy 1 hour meeting with almost no action points
3. A retired Irishman talking to me on the bus back to the office yesterday, about the weather and Belfast and Dublin and him wishing me a pleasant day. What's sweetie. His voice was like an audiobook, as if we was a story teller. I could have chatted with him all day.
4. Caramel Macciato from Starbucks. (loose change in my pocket)
5. Home made mushroom soup with homemade bread for lunch.
6. A Nice catch up with a colleague
7. Being able to solve One of EatonColleges 11 plus Qs for fun.
8. Nice catch up with my house mate
9. Homemade lentil and butter bean casserole topped with mash and cheese
10. A homemade cocktail to finish off the day.
All in all, what a nice day
Enjoy your Thursday everyone

Hello all, still rather MIA as still stoopidly busy
Poor kitty, hugs for BoP and BoPsie
Oh dear Mhags, that doesn't sound good
Got the new kitty/ies yet, CCP?
Yay Ampersand is back and she got to see Lord Tim Of Minchin :j
Well done on the prootion DD
Excellent news from master Frith
Hello everyone else
Some pleasures from the last few days
Wrote a terrific response (if I say so myself) to a students claim for material error. I know he will win but I am boogered if I'm taking the blame. Only just stopped short of putting "my learned friend" and "m'lud" in it  it ran to eight pages - don't mess with a lawyer BOOM
Had a fit of the giggles with colleague, one of those "had to be there" moments. Crying with laughter
Nice meal with recently widowed former colleague and another former colleague, early days for her (he died while we were in France in the summer), but she is forcing herself to get on - but gently
Some good teaching sessions.
Day off today - though work to be done. Blue sky and sunshine though
Made some bread pudding and two loaves banana bread. One for the freezer.
I have a significant birthday approaching in December. (Whisper 50 ) wasn't looking forward to it, cos I couldn't be bothered more than anything. We considered going abroad, but the week before Christmas is tricky. So OH has booked us to stay at the Port Meirion hotel in Wales. Dinner bed and brekkie for us four, less than £400 :T for two nights. Now I am looking forward to it, so I am glad he bothered. Just got to get my head round the fact that I will be 50
Kind of it, as work is dominating. Friday From hell tomorrowI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
sparrer - at least guests came after you got it clean! More cleaning?!
BoP - you play Popmaster too?! (I try to, when things allow. Office uptight.) Oh Tiger... <mops eyes>
Skint yet Again - you've upped duvets? I'm still hovering...
CCP - at least 2 cats - you know you want to! Glad you can remove wet footwear without comment.
Chickenopolis - busy day - hope benzo helped! Glad work went well & heating now sorted.
Purple Kitten - measure that kitchen At Least Twice before playing with the programs! Atta girl planning your invasion of the Highlands in detail, & 'ware mozzies...
DD - hope you're having fun in Budapest! Offical promotion AND payrise?! Excellent!
Frith - the sensory room sounds Wonderful, even if the Younger got himself a bit stuck... (Chuckling here at the mental image - With, not At, you understand!) Good school days are wonderful.
lovefullshelves - no excuses - bullying is bullying. Pen & ink & lay it out for the Governing Body. Don't wait - get it done today? Still smitten with greenhouse drying room!
Kittikins - really pleased you got the sort of school you wanted! (Seen this: http://www.theguardian.com/books/2013/oct/15/neil-gaiman-future-libraries-reading-daydreaming?CMP=twt_gu ) Hurrah for real Black Ink!
mhagster - reunited with OH - back from Scotland?! So sory to hear about work fire - Eeek! Pantry cupboard <consumed with envy>
MissRikkiC - welcome! Right with you on the charm of an Irish lilt.
Yesterdays OS Pleasures
Putting holiday snaps in frame at work. Supposed to have 1 frame (this will be my third) & they're Big frames with a (lopsided) patchwork of smiles, triumphs, caught-in-mid-hurtles, laughter & good times.
This morning not frosty but almost.
Homemade stew for tea - thick, hearty, comforting. May suggest the cook goes a little easier on the pepper (as a whole peppercorn was a bit of a surprise!)
Snagging a Metro for the Nemi cartoon - for the chaps, naturally. (First...!)
Chuckling over the grins as we leave the building. Fresh air a good start, not raining (better) and just Out Of Office!
And so far today:
Remembered my packed lunch (ahem).
Colleagues pausing to look at the photo frame and grin, croon & share my satisfaction.
Unsticking a colleague's machine, with little more than a few threats (to the machine) and a quick wiggle of cables.
Looking forward to Scouts tonight...
Big hugs to all who need them!0
