dundee doll...I was more concerned about the weeing duvet cover than your taxi!

So tis Sunday evening here and it's been a lovely day ! pirate pete has obviously sent the yellow thing over here for a bit today...though it was a cool wind.

    Early morning calls back home.

Sunday scone at our new local, we can walk there in 3 minutes ,cafe. Sat outside in the sunshine.

Then out in the garden all afternoon, weeded and weeded more , OH put mulch down, we ran out and went to get some more....there was a ripped bag which didn't look as though there was any missing but I chanced my luck and asked for a discount and got 1/3 off, so pleased with that as we needed to buy it anyway.

Home and sat out on our new chairs at the front porch and started a new library book.

Nice chat with my sister on phone.

Now need to do a monster ironing but shall watch X factor as I do !

Have a lovely day....I can't quite believe how quick half a weekend goes when you work the other half!!

Morning all. I'm not going to post a '5' but only 1. Not exactly a pleasure, more a relief, you'll understand if you read this through to the end.
Last night I went to plug in the nebuliser and it wouldn't work. Took the thing apart and tried again. Was pushing the plug into a 5-gang socket to make sure there was a connection and there were sparks and smoke came from it alarmingly. Pulled it out, it was still smoking/sparking when I threw it out into the garden. Unplugged all the other sockets from the gang (TV, TV box, video and phone extension, switched off at the wall. Went back to the garden and there were still wisps of smoke coming from the plug. When it stopped I saw that the end of the wires where they go into the plug bit (all very technical!) were not only exposed but broken. Left it outside til this morning. It occurred to me that I probably wound the flex the same way every time which put too much strain on the connection. Also occurred to me that had I left it for a few seconds more to go get my cup of tea or let the dog out the consequences would, not could, have been disastrous. Spent a very sleepless night and now have the task of finding a new plug which has a special 'other end' that goes into the neb. The moral is, and I would ask everyone to do this, check your electrical leads on everything, hair dryers, shavers, lawn mowers, everything you wind up to put away. If It saves one of you going through what I did last night it will have been worth posting this. I'm not sorry it's so long, I would be devastated if it happened to you because I didn't say anything. Have a lovely, sunny and safe day :) x

Honey bear having a glass of wine.:p

Phew Sparrer - a lucky escape
    DD - weeing duvet?
Welcome TInktinkerbelle, but I am sorry it isn't possible to look forward to winter. I only "do" summer :D

    Yesterday's pleasures

    1. OH and I took DD into Birmingham for the first meeting this term of her drama group. It was in the newly refurbished Rep theatre and was abject chaos. However we left her there and then went next door to the brand spanking new library, which is lovely, and luckily got on a tour of the upper echelons and secret garden. Not sure that something with a zillion signs pointing it out can be a "secret" garden though. Stunning views of the city.
    2. OH and DS went off to the Villa, and DD and I met for lunch in Wagamama. Lovely
    3. DD went to the comic book shop (which I hate - I turn into an "I'm boooreedd" toddler :D) so I went to teekayy maxx but avoided buying anything. Nice for a browse though
    4. Watched a film with DD when we got home - the Avengers - was boring but we spent the time companionably and I restarted the jumper for the third time.
    5. DS and OH came home with pizza so no cooking.

Foul day here - hoping to stay in. Head is only ok if I do nothing so it's a good excuse. :)
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Good evening all, from a seriously wet and windy south coast!

sparrer - yikes, how frightening!

Frith - I've never had much luck with growing chillies before now, either: this is the fourth year I have grown them and the first time I've got more than one or two chillies (and have now ended up with more than I know what to do with - you can't win, can you?).

    1) LO takeaway pizza for breakfast - I always think it tastes nicer cold the next morning than it did when hot and freshly cooked. :o

    2) Ordered my books for my next OU course, taking advantage of a £5 cashback offer some kind soul flagged up. :money:

    3) Found three more chillies that I missed while picking them yesterday: it's not worth untying the knot on the garland jut to add three more, so I'll keep these ones to use fresh.

    4) Not very OS of me, but I turned the CH on very briefly while in the shower, as I hate stepping out of a hot shower into a freezing cold bathroom. I guess the OS bit is that I switched it off again as soon as I was dressed. :A

    5) Changed the bed and put my thicker duvet back on the bed - a pleasure as I won't now be cold tonight, but also a bit sad as it means summer is officially over. :(

    6) Did some online job hunting. I didn't find anything that looked interesting but I've signed up to a few specialist websites so hopefully something will come along soon.

Have a nice, dry evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

Another messy post in haste, with absolutely no chronological, or any other sort of logical, order:
[will get to ferry, always do, but....]

    1. So, a week ago right now, was revelling in the final Spooky Men's Chorale Concert in the glorious Union Chapel, Islington, which was not the penultimate missed Friday one in Farnham. They are wonderful. Their rhythms and harmonies cascade through my head and one or another falls in with my steps or activity. Uplifting, so tonic-y.

    2. The tape/cd/radio thing has[presumably]arrived. Box came a week ago, but haven't got round to opening it yet. That can be in France.

    3. Delayed envelope arrived yesterday, meaning particular phone calls and a favourable answer against all odds this a.m., while I was trawling a carboot at some distance. Thus had to head back here then onward to visit l-h. Had been concerned as otherwise no visit poss. till I rtn, late Oct.

    4. Looking forward to using Sat.nav pk:D. Strawbs will arrive like tooth fairy. Had perfect answer to glitch? on another Thread - another reason to be grateful for this site and St Martin of Lewis.

    5. Thought of prepping trailer tomorrow under cover, dry, private is v. pleasing. I'm bound to have fears of not getting everything done, having lost most of today[no 3.]but a touch of Mother Julian will see me through.

    6. New hottie from w8rs demain[JL click&collect]. V. pleasurable it will be. and cheaper than Mr T or Argos or Boots. Asda's had sold out.

    7. En route back from carboot, made time to collect free bag of daffodils from nursery, last day today. Ended up with 3 more No More Plants from the halt and lame sickbay and an Arthur Turner apple tree@£4.50, ditto and some black Queen of Night tulips[full-price but couldn't resist] - all then subject to an NGS 10%discount. Googling tree is interesting, old heritage variety, a good cooker, uniquely has an RHS Gold Medal for its blossom!

    8. Masses of rasps awaiting picking. Am in nightie already and it's still raining, so that'll be 1st thing tmrw. Had to winch 8' tall falling tomato back up to fence, re-moor.

    9. Uncommon buy at bootie today of 3 very fine bottles: a Wolf Blass no'd bottle, a personal cellar port, a Stephen Millier Angel's Reserve. £4.50 the trio. 'I don't drink' said seller. Lovely to tuck away and remember for something special.

    10. Need to eat, then bed, read, listen.

Will try and catch up with posts over next fortnight in a place where yellow thingis still being friendly, not sulking 'cos bop forgot to pack it. It's 8C here. Me+cardie, scarf. In the meantime warms, happies, copings, successful yums of mse nature and gluts used up for all.
