Evening all.
mhagster - wow, a kangaroo! I've seen wallabies in the UK, but like Chicken I would be a bit worried to see a kangaroo in the wild over here!
LFS - thanks for the link to your new blog - that's bookmarked for future admiration. I'd love to hear how your dill pickles turn out - I've been planning to make some myself, being very partial to pickled cucumber.
Kittikins - it's lovely to see you so happy.
Frith - thanks for the tip-off about the damson article - I picked up my copy of the magazine yesterday so I'll have a look at that later.
sparrer - glad you had a nice time on Hayling.
Pleasures for yesterday:
1) Slept (and slept) in my own bed, undisturbed by delivery lorries or drunken idiots shouting outside the window, until woken at the more civilised hour of 9.30 by two builders working on a neighbour's house and singing tunelessly but with touching enthusiasm along to 'I just called to say I love you'. :rotfl:
2) Spent most of the morning on the sofa, reading a cheap book on my kindle and nursing my sore knee (I'm not sure if I mentioned that while I was away - I slipped on a rain-sodden drain cover and landed on my knee, which is now rather bruised and swollen).
3) Phoned my DM and chatted about everything and nothing, as you do.
4) Hot dogs for dinner, for no reason other than because I fancied them.
5) Pub quiz in the evening, and we won. :j
And for today:
1) First day back at work wasn't too bad, considering. I have every intention of starting a proper search for a new job this weekend, though.
2) It started raining just as I left the office, but held off on the real downpour until I got home.
3) Had a dig through the cupboards and found the ingredients for a nice, warming sausage casserole for dinner.
4) Phoned my DF for a quick chat as it's his birthday today, and told him about a couple of the pubs I visited while I was in Devon, one of which he visited himself 30 years ago!
5) Will shortly be curling up with a bowl of sausage casserole, the grand prix which I recorded on Sunday and haven't yet watched, and rain dripping down the windows - very autumnal!
Have a nice, not too soggy evening, everyone.Back after a very long break!0 -
Bit of an upset today. My uncle's funeral is tomorrow but my aunty has had a fall and is now in hospital. Not sure if the funeral will be postponed or go ahead without her. :-(
Pleasures for today:
1) Lovely meeting at smaller son's new school. A half day then one full day await him in a couple of weeks then he'll be full time!
2) Teacher is also putting things in place to prove he needs to go to a base at his high school (need to apply by the end of October).
3) Went round the charity shops and got a T shirt.
4) Whilst wondering about, met a friend I hadn't seen for about 3 years.
5) Had to get a replacement tyre (£72!) but got a sausage sandwich from a caf! round the corner while I waited.
6) Tasty tea of chicken kievs, roast potatoes, carrots and corn on the cob.
Finally, 7) I'm in the paper! http://www.kidderminstershuttle.co.uk/news/10665675.Hundreds_attend_first_archaeological_dig_open_day/?ref=twtrec

Chicken: I was thinking about clothes on my way into work today and the top that made me decide has been worn a lot but bought it back in 2008. Ops. Cliniq6e had put 10% off signs up at Debenhams apparently just an hour before I went in. I assume it’s on for a while http://www.debenhams.com/beauty/clinique?CMP=KNC-AB33&sc_mt=p&sc_kw=debenhams%20clinique&tmcampid=6&tmad=c&_$ja=cgid:8007394744|tsid:51875|cid:138209224|lid:11387348307|nw:g|crid:29708476624|rnd:18810853891290620927|dvc:c|adp:1t2&gclid=CKisl5_7w7kCFUXJtAod1jsA_A
1. Received an abysmal insurance offer, a pleasure to reject it outright, but livid quite honestly when the accident has been confirmed as entirely not “at fault” they don’t lose anything!

4. Saving 2 pleasures0
