Tuesday evening! Had a day off and was fairly productive until 2pm when the great afternoon snooze occurred!
So....up early and
Phoned my mum for a chat.
Washed, ironed, hoovered, did bathrooms, tidied office ....all written down on a list and ticked off ( love lists)
Did all the above during the ad breaks of the very first 'Dr Quinn,Medicine Woman' and a fairly trashy lunch time film.
'Locked myself out' ....so I nip out to shop for milk ( okay and chocolate) , left telly on and phone on sofa as I was just nipping out....tried the new key just before I left , just to check it worked.....literally out less than 10 minutes, came home and tried said shiny purple key and the lock wouldn't open.....so I can see the phone and I can hear the telly and it's 2 hours until girls get in from school and I have chocolate and I had swept the porch and washed the table and chairs this morning , so I can sit down and I won't starve!
Decide I'll just go to the library until girls are due home but I will just check key one more time....so it seems you need to turn the key the right way!
Panic over but exhausted by whole event so needed a snooze on the sofa!!
Made a bolognese sauce with rigatoni ( donated by friend last week) and bake off in oven with cheese on top and all melty.
And that was my Tuesday ....also got paid....liking getting paid again!
Need to get used to weekly pay though and be able to budget from that.
Have a lovely day
Eta....the possums are walking over the roof as I type...quite bizarre having wild animals trip trapping above the ceiling!0 -
As an add on...just eating dinner ( very nice too) and OH asks what I've done on my day off so tel them about my day and getting locked out...so son who also got a key, had a similar problem yesterday , trying to get in!
( don't feel quite as foolish as I did earlier on! )0 -
Back from my jaunt to the south coast, just read the last few posts about school sports and had to laugh as it reminded me of DD's end of term school report 'I cannot mark this person as I have yet to meet them'. To say she would do anything to get out of sport is an understatement :rotfl:
1. super weekend away with many friends, excellent serviced room with stunning pastoral view with lake and yachting marina beyond, wonderful food in silver service restaurant (bearing in mind this is classed as a 'holiday camp'), also a pool and beauty salon equal to the very expensive one three miles from my home. A perfect weekend getaway for r&r, and already booked again for next year
2. Pepperelli's ice cream parlour. No words can describe this experience, even :drool::drool: can't sum it up
3. No hold up's either way on the country's biggest car park - a nice change
4. Friend who had been waiting for a house exchange has just heard she could be getting her wish by the C-word. Everything crossed it goes through
5. Picked muttley up from DD yesterday, so pleased to have him back as it's turned so cold and he and the mog make good hwb's.
Good to be back, at least until the next trip in November when I go back to another of my favourite places, Malta, for a week - gotta love retirement. Hope all is well with everyone, nice to hear how jobs, house moves, schools etc are all falling into place
Have a sunny day0 -
Good evening all !
VJsmum - I know the B*n Law one. He wrote a book afterwards .. I lost interest once he met "Bev" and had more kids.. fantasy in woods time over:rotfl:
Sparrer - glad you had a lovely time. We missed you x Re "cross country" .. my house, sofa,tv and kettle were naturally en route. Never got a sweat up :rotfl:
DD- xrated proms sounds far more interesting.
5 for today
1. Took my buttery oaty bites into work . Blow flap jacks these are fab like snickers cakes . Dead easy to do and no bakingAnyway colleagues ate the lot.
2. 5am in bath sounds like a blacksmith is hammering the carp out of my central heating system . OH out in garden having a fag rushes in "what the heck is that ?" Some return valve in plumbing . All switched off. My cousin will fix no doubt.
3. Work ok packed up stuff as moving up to another floor. I will avoid the mayhem as not in now until next Monday.
4. Terrier throwing ball on and off of her nose at speed like a seal . Strangers love watching her.
5. Quick tea something in oven and chips (not a bun)
6. Oooh my cousin has been doing a bit of geneology and there is apparently a link with Vanessa Bell and Virginia Woolf . I am not convinced .
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
I got into givings mes thanks all over the shop. Now alsos as I has the web at Salt Mine, I fear Ms BoP has bin BoP surfing!
I have some grave news to start off with. Tigger has suffered an injury so horrendous it may need specialist remedial work to be carried out. We have booked Tigger into the Toy shop so his batteries can be removed and his condition sorted. Only problem is it will has to be Sunday morning as I is busy!
5 Even thous BoP get home to the knees and squeaky bits every nite, still Ms BoP cannot make a jelly that can set in a millennium. Anyone want some Raspberry fruit juice, chilled?
4 On the subjects of Ms BoP. I just nose she gets on with her bits. SDhe is toooooooooooooooo kind to me. I has me Jim Jams, pipe and slippers every night. Now yous no thinks I am churning into some rogue type and readied for a cardigan do you?
3 I am fed up with peoples sending me stupid bits on Clatter. Yes, one has been de flowered this eve. I do not care about some upstart comic, who rants on about a sponsor's subjected work during the war. Really! I suppose they do not go home is a French Car! Now I buy things on my view of the world. And if than means I do not buy French wine, I do not buy it. But, you are free to choose your choice! Still, of he did not like the award sponsor, why turn up and take their gift!
2 gether with Ms BoP tonight. Last nite she got slaughtered at Scrabble! Tonight she is offs to sum Girlie show nite thing. They are looking at Toys and frocks. I hop she finds me train set for Christmas
1 Do you worry about things!
Pathetic!

Evening
Pleasures for the last couple of days,
1. Not a pleasure but had news that a friend's mum had died and the following morning another friend became a grandma to a beautiful baby girl.
2. Everyone has had packed lunches so far this week
3. DD really enjoying her new placement
4. Got through yesterday without too many tears and a few smiles in memory of my brother. He would have been 52 yesterday and while I still miss him we can laugh and smile at the memories he gave us.
5. Spending time with my little family and we are all happy and healthy.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
My husband made stew. It's delicious. I am both lucky & smart to have married a good cook. (He knew I'm just unsafe in the kitchen & married me anyway!)
Eldest son has decided to do the Duke of Edinburgh scheme - I am so proud of him!
The wonderful peace as sons dive into science fiction magazines - I must thank my decluttering colleague again.
The chilli plants grown from seed are about to flower! (We have managed to keep them alive this long!)
Heard an old familiar song on the radio - a standard & an old friend - sat parked, happily remembering hearing it, singing it, enjoying it before I got back on with everyday stuff.
Howling, largely with laughter, at an American article on surviving a family of small children - Let Me Be the One Who Says It Out Loud by Steve Wiens. Please, find it & share it, or, bear it in mind when next you yearn to fling an offspring into tight orbit.
Hugs to all who need them!0 -
Hope you are OK, Tealady, anniversaries are strange days.
Here are my pleasures for today:
1) Sleep not up to normal standards as MrN's dogs woke me up at 3am. They only barked for 2-3 minutes but I just could not get to sleep again after that. Pleasure was that I was warm and comfortable.
2) MrN bumped into me coming out of the house to take bigger son to school so he gave bigger son a lift with his sons 3 and 5.
3) Painted! From 8.30 til 4pm (with a little gap). That is all the kitchen done, primer and kitchen paint. All round the blooming sockets (many), light switches, round 3 doors, cupboard, neatly around the work surfaces... Just saving up to get the final cupboard doors and a plinth to cover up the unit legs.
4) Had a break from painting to pop down to mum and dad's so they could eat smaller son's scones he made at school yesterday.
5) Jolly phone call from smaller son's head teacher saying she has been to the transition meeting with new school and he is going to start full time at his new base on 30th September. Felt a bit emotional afterwards about him leaving his tiny school where they have helped him so much.
6) Jolly phone call from Autism team lady about why smaller son has never been appointed an autism worker (oops!) Now he has one who can help us sort out getting a place at a high school (well, the ONLY high school) with an autism base.
7) Ampersand (and others). If you have the Waitrose magazine for September, look up an article written about a Mr Ward who supplies the damsons for the Duchy of Cornwall (and elsewhere). At the moment, my brother is picking a few tonnes for him, he lives just down the valley!
8) Went out for a curry for brother's birthday with mum and dad, sister and brother in law and sons. Only one other group in the restaurant so all good. Quite full now!
About to go to bed and watch Holby City on iplayer. Probably cold enough for a hot water bottle.
Meeting at smaller son's new school first thing! Better buy him some uniform. :-)0 -
Sorry to hear about Tigger BoP, give him a tickle under the chin from me x
1. I taught the whole hour's lesson!! The teacher said I did great; it was well-planned and pitched at the right levelI felt on top of the world!
2. Have nearly got enough loo rolls to make a moving model hand in science on Friday!
3. As you may have guessed, it was another great day at school, I know I'm learning so much and am gaining lots of self-confidence as well. I wish I could bottle this feeling so I can take small sips from it when the times come (as I'm sure they will) that I'm feeling overworked, overtired and stressed.
4. Spent the afternoon at school in a study skills session with the Y6s. Wish I'd had the chance to do it years ago!
5. Hugs with DD - she heard my alarm go off nice and early and so we had 20 mins or so of cuddling and nattering before having to get up!
6. DD's lift to school didn't arrive (the silly mother thought she and my dad were sharing the lifts on Mondays only......),so Daddykins is happy to continue with the full school run. Lucky DD, she does so love spending time with her Grandadkins (and he with her too)
7. Listening to DD informing Grandadkins that he needed to do his duty and go to his armchair for morning cuddles with her. They have their own little traditions
8. My car is booked in for a service and yay, I won't have to take it to the garage as they will come and pick it up for me
9. Lovely email from a chum
10. Booked DD and I in to a printing workshop later in the year
11. Found out from head of PE that I will probably only have 1-2 days' worth of PE tuition on my PGCE - YIPPEE!! She was probably dismayed when I grinned at that news, but I am not in any way, shape or form sporty - a bit of swimming and yoga is as far as I like to go. None of this hockey at 7:30am in the morning that they get up to at this particular school!! *shudder*0 -
For Monday and Today
Chicken: your monday post did give me giggle
Reading everyone’s pleasures made me smile.
1. We gave in and had to go clothes shopping, most of my clothes are “holey” beyond their repairs., and DH admitted my clothes were looking old and tired for work. We did ok, work trousers in a sale, fluffy cardigan to put over, and a couple of work tops. Not bad considering I’m not fond of shopping.;)
2. Bought a new Cl%^qe foundation it’s lovely and they had 10% off.:T
3. We popped over the bridge and went to Costco and used a few vouchers.
4. Had a really nice time out with DH, and we went to an American diner wonderful food and 50% off voucher dinner out for 2 came to £9, and we have more vouchers we hope to be able to use.:D
5. For today, bemused lots of compliments I am guessing as wearing new clothes and make up for once, but does make me feel like I should make a bit of an effort with new clothes. I was thinking that apart from 2 maxi dresses I haven’t bought “work wear” in err yeah a few years, I may even go clothes shopping in my lunch time tomorrow.:o:o
6. Gathered all the paperwork together to claim back insurance receipts, copied it all and all done, nice to be underway at least with it all.:)
7. DH took the tumble dryer apart for the 3rd time and got it working again, it may be on it’s last legs but we are scrimping and saving.:D:D0
