Much good coalface news - congrats to all concerned. All good portents for those awaiting.
Hello westy - great pleasures.
1. Hearing Clive James on Front Row just now - and I'd been reading some poetry from Opal Sunset this afternoon.
2. Ambridge and Swishing - goodness me! Haven't listened for a bit, or caught up. BUT, Jennifer Aldridge TWICE said 'bought',when she should have said 'brought'. For shame! What is wrong with Caroline? Suspect we're about to have another public health storyline insert.
3. Fresh bed will feel extra lovely ce soir.
4. Amid light dozing under yellow thing, neighbour carpentering away, pleasant sounds, The Wireless, book et al, became aware of...not sure what. Arose from prone to see 2 visitors, neighbour's girls very happy in the raspberry jungle. They'd flown over, neighbour had been around street looking for them unbeknownst to me.
5. Mowed grass for neighbour and self. None of it goes on my compost now, but to hens and bunnies. Such a pleasure to watch them busy with same.
6. Did an Elizabeth David at lunch: 'An Omelette and a Glass of Wine'. Half left for demain, mushroom+peppers, orange and green. Looked beautiful, taste matched. Was surprised I opened bottle for self, esp. white[rouge pour moi]but it's from my NZ East Coast and I'd just remembered the book title.
9. Now to shower, then sit out again in delicious night after anotheryellow thing day of glory.
Handsome pics,mcculloch - growing fast.

Ooh fresh peas and strawbs from the garden. I never usually manage them in plurals.
Villagelife - well done your DS :T
Well done on the job offer, BoP
CCP, mangetout into pesto? Very clever
Hello bizzy lizzie and woody woodpecker
Gosh, but I'm tired.
Today's pleasures
1. Driving to work and so a quick getaway
2. My new screen for the broken laptop arrived, taking it to friends house tomorrow so her son can mend it.
3. Caught up with colleague who has been on hols. Her dad is the one who arranged for me to do work at local tourist attraction and she said he was impressed and the feedback has been good
4. DD's pressies all wrapped and we are looking forward to her birthday.
5. Dad has decided he does need to see a consultant about his ulcers. He was, understandably, really reluctant to set foot in hospital again (you may recall he spent 6 months in hospital last year), but we have persuaded him that this is for his benefit and may improve his quality of life and that he won't have to have anything done if he doesn't want it. This is progress, but he still has to make the appointment.
6. Eating tea outside - sausages and cauli cheese, not very summary but needed eating up
7. All marking now finished and figures reported :T another juggling ball safely landed.
Have a lovely evening allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Sorry I missed that Congrats on the job offer BOP:beer::beer::beer:0

Woohoo, lots of job offers and hopefully job offers (MHags I'm talking about you
)
1. Sunshine - and fans were brought into school today for the benefit of all, phew!
2. Student finance have finally got a step closer to resolving my situation, they have sent me paperwork to sign, albeit incorrect, but apparently that doesn't matter.....woohoo!
3. Bought 2 lovely tops in the village charity shop, same top but in different colours, my teaching wardrobe is nearly complete, and mostly charity shop/sale/given to me by chums
4. DD and I went out to the most amazing school production this evening, we've seen the original show in London and these Year 6s were just as brilliantOur friend is the head of music there and invited us as she knows we love the music
5. My lovely daddykins came down and did lots of backbreaking work in the hot sunshine, bless him. He also took away the latest set of boxes and bags I've packed up. But still the place looks like a bomb's hit it!!
6. DD will be getting a gold merit certificate at school this year! We're very excited and it will have pride of place in her certificate book - in previous years she's had bronze and silver, but it is, understandably, hard to get gold, so she is soooo pleased
7. My dad picked DD up from school which was hopefully a pleasure for them both, and was a pleasure for me as having had one day off work, I came back to about 3 days' worth of work, so having an extra hour in my office was much needed!
8. A freebie student academic diary has arrived from one of the teaching unions, I love a bit of stationery
9. DD and I dined al fresco, I definitely want to have some outdoor space when we move out of parents to a new home, even if its just a patio. Evenings like this are rare but much loved.
10. I've arranged to meet a chum on Saturday night when DD is off at her camping thing.0 -
Mhags - glad your interview went OK. You won't miss SLM!
Well done, son of VillageLife.
Ampersand - I'm behind on the Archers so will listen to a couple of episodes in a bit.
Congratulations to Miss Kittikins!
Here are my pleasures for today.
1) Met a friend in Worcester and thought I'd be crafty and get there 8.30am "before it gets hot". Well, it was hot then and hotter later! Got the 3 birthday cards I wanted and the thank you card for smaller son's school.
2) Had a chat with my friend and ones of those crushed ice drinks that must be at absolute zero. It doesn't matter how long you let them stand for, they are freezing.
3) Went to see mum playing the accordion with her friend.
4) Quick tea of pasta, tuna and sauce followed by summer pudding.
5) Had a game of chess with smaller son and he won!
6) Old farm cat is on my sofa! (She never comes in. In fact the only time before she has come in of her own accord is when she needed help when she lost her tail). She's not exactly looking relaxed but has had 20 minutes of fuss.0 -
