Lovefullshelves, well done for tackling your problem head on and not ignoring it. VJsmum, hope the school is reasonably minded.
Good luck, Mhagster!
Frith, hope all goes well with discussions on SS.
Rightyo...
1. Dr Christian (DS to newbies) was away for the weekend with GF, so no cooking over a hot stove in heat, yay.
2. Pictures of Walter, if that is still his name, daughter's new Springer puppy, on FB. I do hope it is his name. My niece's Patterdale is Alf, after her grandfather (my Dad), Walter was my daughter's grandfather, my lovely father in law. Son i L chose name though.
3. Booked a holiday - just a short break for August - on the Isle of Wight. It's a mystery hotel, so we could be anywhere on the island, though the only rooms available are twin rooms, seems a wee bit odd.. Great price and got a further 10% off by booking on web just after midnight.
4. Buddy has offered to sort out garden and rip out all the bindweed now rampant.
5. Bought my first new clothes of this year, a gorgeous short dress/long top for £12 down from £16 and two pairs of leggings for £8.
6. Lovely pics of Angrove Fatrascal and Angrove Mumsbuns on Net. Fatty is gorgeous, such a handsome yearling. Boo is starting to look pretty as well. Now for talent to go with the looks.
So many other little pleasures, not least of all my new laptop, not OS but hey.
Lots of cycling in sunshine. I found a way to stop my sandals (size 8, bought for swollen left foot) sliding off the not swollen size 7 1/2 right foot when cycling. Wear one of the identical size 7 pair I bought on right foot, size 8 on left.
Clock with spaces for photos has arrived in post a few days after ordering; a survey site freebie.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Lovefullshelves - ((hugs)) to you .Keep strong , my thoughts are with you xx
CCP - wasn't it a pricey hotel too? Not Tra*elodge etc .
Congratulations to Friths DS - is this the JRT's Mum ?
Have a good day all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Morning all.
LFS my OH had similar but it turned out to be polyps. His family has a history of bowel cancer too. It is quite a positive as their removal is straight forward and now they keep a check on things "up there"
Congrats to Friths sister
Chicken, I now have an Image of a chicken with a badly made up face.:D:p
The last person left the party at 10.50!! seven and a half hours it lasted, never again.
1. Another teaching session at tourist attraction. This one was even more out of my comfort zone but, if I say so myself, I did really well. Even I thought I sounded like I knew what I was talking about.:D. They want me to do a couple more but in something that is much more my field of expertise :T
2. Traffic jam on the motorway  nothing going anywhere  luckily I saw it before I joined it, ended up having to drive thro the middle of Birmingham where, luckily, there was no traffic (all on m-way, I suppose) and arrived 40 mins early.
3. Got away in time for a last "ladies wot lunch" before holidays
4. DS did his exclusion day OK. He said it was boring, but that was partly the point, I guess. A policeman came in to scare the life out of him (he comes to speak to all "aggressors", the school said DS didn't really need it cos what he'd done wasnt bad enough, but it might do the job of putting him off doing it again). School said that 6th forms and colleges only ask for behaviour reports on years 10 and 11, DS is still in year 9. Hopefully that will be the end of it.
5. Tea in the garden. Party leftovers and salad, including beet root and radish from garden. We only threw away 2 1/2 cheese rolls from party - pretty good going, I think.
Have another gloriously hot and sunny nice day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
vjsmum I think it's such a shock as a parent when your child does something that a. Is out of character and b. you expect better of them! My son and his pal hacked into the school's computer system last year!! He was excluded for 3 days! I was mortified...teachers were shocked ( and a tad impressed!). It did not go down on his record or anywhere near his uni application which I was concerned about and they made sure his exclusion was not on the day of his exams! Hopefully they learn from it! Keep smiling hon!
So another day in work done and only 6 more shifts to go and I am so counting each and every one of them! Stressy little man left earlier today and only tomorrow with him and he is off for 2 days. I dislike how he speaks to me so much! Then on occasion he can be nice but when he's a wee turd I just dislike him intensely!
Anyway, the girl who is taking over from me is doing well and should be good to go in 7 shifts!!
An absolutely pleasant day, I enjoyed my walk to the car this afternoon , felt almost spring like.
Some people have daffodils and jonquils in their gardens, trees are starting to bud.
Lots more customers sounding sad that I'm going.....awh that's a shame and all but see ya!
Think that's all for now...off to make lasagne and roast spuds for dinner0 -
1. 1 shepherds pie made, using leftovers - delicious.
2. 2 loads of washing hung out, and brought in bone dry and smelling of summer.
3. 3 bowls of strawberries from the garden eaten for pudding - yum!
4. 4 loaves of bread made, and put in the freezer.
5. 5 windows open letting in the sunshine and the sounds of summer.0 -
Welcome newbies
mhags all the best of luck for the interview tomorrow
frith I like your Dad's thinking re a governess
VJsmum they sure know how to party in your neck of the woods!
lfs thoughts and wishes for a successful result
DD sorry to hear about the sunburn, hope it feel a little better this morning
BoP you could be right about St Swithin's, the forecast last night said this beautiful yellow thing could be with us til the end of the month. I can put up with a frazzled lawn til then, or longer
ampersand - as above, you may just get your wish
chicken what did you make of the programme? It didn't, ultimately, seem to prove anything except more expensive food tastes better, so not sure where the benefit, if there was one, of eating on a budget came in
CCP the hotel sounds 'interesting', will look forward to further reports. The coffee in the courtyard sounds _pale_, it's years since I saw Camp coffee
1. For yesterday - a sleep day. It was wonderful, I lazed and felt no guilt about the dust. Didn't even sweep the room with a glance!
2. My attempts at emptying the freezer, which have now taken approx 18 months, have once again come to nothing as the meat I bought in Lancs has ensured the drawers have to be pulled, pushed and yanked to get them open. Anyone who has had to go without to feed their children will know the enormous satisfaction it gives
3. It has to be said - sunshine and salad days
4. Lots and lots and lots of tiny green tomatoes in the basket, getting very cramped in there so am going to remove the marigolds because the tumbling toms need more space to tumble
5. having just dug up more new pots to go with my salad and the last of the strawbs for DNeighbour's DD, I'm sitting in the sun with a cuppa, doing absolutely nothing, and plan to do more of same for a while yet
Happy Tuesday0 -
LFS - there's lots of people here thinking of you - fingers crossed whatever it is isn't serious and can be fixed easily.Chickenopolis wrote: »CCP - wasn't it a pricey hotel too? Not Tra*elodge etc .
It was definitely mid-range - a decent 3 star - although I MSE'd it so it worked out £41 a night, which is probably cheaper than places like the one you named. I would have been even more cross if I'd paid full price for that dirty little shoebox of a room!
We've now found a major problem, though - my DM's tablets have gone missing, and we suspect someone at the hotel took them. They're really strong prescription medication, so I've just fired off an email to the hotel to warn them, as I hate to think what might happen if the tealeaf swallows one. :eek:Back after a very long break!0 -
lovefullshelves wrote: »Hello everyone:) sadly not too many pleasures over the last few days. So much pain went to doc's today, would seem I have a lump where the yellow thing don't shine and have to go for urgent scan:( My dad died of cancer, my mum had cancer, my aunt died of it and other aunt got over it.
1. No appetite so I'm losing weight:)
2. Got a doc's appointment same day I rang!
3. OH walked the dog and has offered to do washingup!!
I'm scared:( but think positive, maybe its just a stuck gooseberry:o
My 5 for yesterday
1 - Clean sheet day.......lovely!
2 - My Dad with a smile in his voice
3 - Good news at college interview provisionally accepted on my next step up Level 3 Counselling Course.
4. managed to sit and do some studying for Diploma
5.Little green tommies starting to ripen
Not all in the right order but you get my drift.

Great reading from first to last, sparrer - totally at one with you on lots, inc.yellow thing. May go and check out rogue taties, now flowering away, as is much else, all growing at last because they're warm, in warm beds, with warm wet feet.
Would it work for me?
Long catch-up read, having had neither phone nor t'internet. All dead. Rather proud of tracing/eliminating etc. for several hours until NOW...FIXED!
lfs -((((((((())))))))) Knowledge is power. I'm so glad you've acted immediately on this.
vjm - Let us hear protagonist also had a police visit.
bop - now don't you go reprising your Doubtfire tendancy. You're doing the finest yellow thing work in the world right here. 100% concentration required until Swithin Appraisal. No backsliding please.
ccp- repotted the Calla's earlier. They'd been over-watered @w8rs, hence rtc. but 3 are onto next tlc stage.
1. Trouble at t'Mill...glad I was with x yesterday[being pressured], respite today. But the Nasties are swirling, they always do in such business. Remaining on call.
2. NZ Uncle tfrs to hospital rehab. today, re-learning to walk.
3. Hungry - looking forward to h/g+h/m lunch and outdoors and yellow thing and occasional moving of hose, book and The Wireless.
4. Early washing - 4 bells - out and in already, including a genuine LV handbag, whose filthy outer I said I'd try and save for our fund-raising yesterday. Savon de Marseille+much repeated care looking successful, drying inverted within a thick white towel.
5. Took duplicate T&M fig out to dear couple, now back in own home post stroke, fire, flood, insurance-appointed workmen theft and much delay. They're pure delight, in their mid/late 70's, approaching 40, but this has been a tough, tough time to ride out. We sat outside amid many and various animals. P, who has had stroke, brought out tea. Speaking of much, including x. A genuine companionable time, with happiness of hens, banties - inc.new mother and bossy strop baby - about our feet, sea of waving green stretching away to such 'hills' as remain here.
&'s off to put kettle on, pour whatever - hot or chilled - for everyone. Might even remember to rinse hair first, still piled up with conditioner. Je m'en vais.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

LFS: glad you are getting it checked out.
CCP: the hotel sounds like a dreadful place.
McHags Best of luck tomorrow, thou you won’t need it.
Sparrer: Loving your relaxing post.
Ampersand: I am sure they appreciate you being there for them, thou it sounds awful.
1.Today I have sewn up some clothes, 2 maxi dresses with holes in, and 2 skirts, all done and ready to wear again.:p
2.No work, a pleasure and a wage pain.
3.Getting the caravan ready again, the bedding cleaned, aired and re fitted, went through the food cupboards, we are off again end of July only for 2 nights very locally and extremely cheaply but it’s still a break.
4.Sat out in the garden with a tea while downloading a few Kindle books some freebies and 2 paid for.
5. Lunch was lovely, left over eggs boiled up, ham and tomatoes turned into sandwich fillings for DH and I.
6. We are creeping up on the take away bills again so against my better judgement there is some food slow cooking away. I am trying to be good budget wise as I know the job will be ending soon enough. So cutting back on un needed spending, and Sparrer those freezer drawers are creaking a lovely delight with a lot of things to cook up. We ended up with rtc party sausages bought at Christmas cut up into a casserole with vegetables, diced potatoes, tomatoes etc and topping it with a dumpling mix I found. It feels good not to have caved. It smells good cooking away now for later.
7. Loving watching the animals play with tennis balls and an old marrow bone.
8. Feels nice to have done some bits today.
9. And it’s only 3.30:rotfl:0
