Hi all, posting a few pleasures
1. friend brought me a lovely bunch of yellow roses and carnations for helping her with job application and CV
2. lovely and sunny this afternoon after a few days of gloom. Pottered in the garden and managed to pull up a few long-gone-to-seed bluebells & put salt and boiling water on the weeds in the paving...
3. its Friday :j a regular pleasure as it comes every week
4. a load of washing dried on line this afternoon... not sure what the forecast is for the weekend so I thought I'd better get some done just in case
5. have had an "indication" from my boss that I will be moving departments in the next few weeks. I cant wait - the work will be much better suited to me and my [STRIKE]dis[/STRIKE]-abilities. Nothing official yet so cant really tell anyone

1) Olop's alive! :j The resuscitation job only cost £35, too, as it was far less drastic than I or the mechanics first thought.
2) Peanut butter and banana sandwich for brekkie.
3) Got to the bus stop this morning just as the bus was about to leave, but the driver kindly opened the doors for me so I didn't miss it.
4) Yellow thing has made an appearance, although it's chilly enough that I must go and put on a jumper when I've finished typing this.
5) [STRIKE]Smoked haddock[/STRIKE] Cod fishcakes (bought on SO) for dinner - they won't be as good as the ones I had in my DP's local pub while I was over there, but they'll hopefully be close enough to act as a tasty reminder. [ETA - darn, I was certain they were smoked haddock ones. Oh well, cod will have to do, as that's what they are!]
Back after a very long break!0 -
Got a sore throat (as has bigger son) so am going to bed now. But here are my pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep. Have had better, though!
2) Fridge seems to be working better after my unblocking of it.
3) Had lunch at mum and dad's.
4) My sister has organised a meal for my birthday.
5) Brother in law has invited sons climbing over the weekend.
6) Next door's sons came round (not MrN's, other side). They are 3 and 5 and my sons are quite taken with them (they don't see many young children like that). The younger one keeps saying to smaller son "If I can borrow your scooter, I'll be your fwend" :-)
7) Was making hot dogs for tea but they looked a bit dull so made some potato wedges and baked beans to go with them.
8) Had a nerf gun fight with sons.
9) Bigger son had a lovely mispronunciation earlier that made smaller son laugh. They were playing pop songs they like on youtube and bigger son said "Put that one on that Pssssss sings". Smaller son looked confused. Bigger son "You know - that famous one by Psssss". Smaller son "Do you mean Psy?" :-D0 -
1. Just in from sitting out a while, bidding the near night 'à demain'. Beautiful stillness. Soft air. Quiet sounds. Bunnies abed[he's VERY happy], girls too. Only one egg today.
2. More distant middle of nowhere scrapyard said 'Yes, we have Ford Focus exhaust back box, £20...3 in fact.' Good-o. Off I go. Eventually found it[it kept shifting with each new set of directions given]but....need I say? Some lovely gent fellas there though. Happy ending when 5 of them patrolled the immaculately ordered aisles, unstacked 7 cars to unearth an FF down below - not an Estate, but comparing old back box with what they neatly detached, looks to be a match. Payment refused because of !!!!-up and delay.
3. On track of NZ Uncle's b'day gift, sent 24 May. Remake with add-on and signed for courier post offered, plus refund! Again, wonderful service.
4. Mr T fuel points again not doubled, which CC+ gives as perk. Another 'promised' investigation...ho hum, won't hold breath. Humble pie, eat it &:o - 2 phone msgs found on return.
5. Late-ish w8rs free drink, nicely timed for naughty rtc Union Jack+teapot cupcakes. So, box of 4, on bogof, means I am paid £1.45 to take each lot. Happily done and chortles with neighbour as I hand them over with this latest tale. Also rtc chez w8rs, 3 potted French tarragons, not the usual Russian variety which is most often subbed for the real thing. It's a tricksy plant. Dropped one to friend en route back, with a gorgeous spelt seedy loaf, rtc 18p.
6. Remote switched on@1727h tonight - better late than never, so Merci millefois bop:j:T:). To think that this is the longest day...what a joke. Actually I married 1st time on this date, other side of world. Don't know why that's in Pleasures, except it's v.v.v. OS now. 44 years !
sparrer - last car but one had OPV in reg....I'd just become a pensioner and I could not remove Old Person's Vehicle from brain. I can only feel the totally non-starter 'Jet' for yours - all obsidian glint, speedy, darty, launchpad-y/jetty associations. I like Treacle best.

Frith - special
:):) for your no.6. My throat also started up in sympathy, but Dr has given special spray which is helping empty head, nose, eyes and throat already. When I insisted I wasn't actually ill, he just said 'There's always a first time with these seasonal afflictions and they're better eliminated.' Any chance you could enquire with your GP? Also, did you say anything to Parent Ptnrshp Lady today?

Ampersand - I've had hay fever each year since I was 8 but this is more than that. Also allergic to fur (cat, dog, but especially rabbit and horse) and dust generally.
I did phone Mrs Parent Partnership today and she sounded appalled (as she always does when I mention smaller son's old school!) but it doesn't help that I don't have any of the paperwork about him. I asked old school time and again for C's records but they always "forgot" to photocopy them for me. Also emailed his solicitor but have had no reply yet.
P.S The small boy neighbours come round here complete with a Jack Russell that clears the cat bowls! We had 2 JR's growing up so good to see him.0 -

VJsmum - I'm always interested in your external examinering tales, as I deal with such things at my uni. You're not one of mine, are you?
No - mine was in Sheffield. But one of my colleagues was down your way this week. Was singing the praises of Pompey - both as a town and a university. I have enjoyed my External examinering - i'll be looking for another.
Glad Olop is well
Ampersand - love the great service from your burley men
Skint - hope the work move happens soon

a few for this week ...
1. Had a week of to look after the tiny terrier whilst Mum and two sisters have gone on holiday together ( too much like the scene on the Heath in the Scottish play for me:rotfl:)
2. Took the terrier err... terrier racing . The traps opened and she ignored the foxes tail that she was supposed to chase and slinked off looking for us in the crowd ...tail clamped to her ar*e she was totally unimpressed by the event .
3.Had a nice meal out in the pub garden with the terrier and OH
4. Slow walks/limps with the terrier in various woods and parks.
5. Picking loads of strawberries from the garden.
6. An ugly bald headed jackdaw I have named Ork (sp) as "Orks is Orks" in the LoTR because it looks like one . It is so ugly that it makes my tummy go funny in a scary way. Anyway he keeps popping over for a digestive or two which makes my day.
7. Diamond and ring are now reunited . Re rhodiumed(sp) and re clawed it looks like new . Cost £180 though
8.Finished and sent off the last assessment for the course that Mcculloch kindly directed me to.
9.Went racing at Brighton , have loved watching Royal Ascot on tv - stuff the fashion I want to watch the 'orses .
10. Placed a cheeky £5 on at the bookies for this afternoon
11. Had hair cut and teeth rasped
12.Had MRI scan on Thursday . Not a pleasure but is an essential part of my life now and forever. I am very thankful to the NHS for this.
Have a lovely day all ! Who stole the sun ??:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0
