    Evening all.

Chickenopolis - you're back! :j I heard Mr Blue Sky in a shop while I was in the city centre earlier today - it must have been a harbinger of your return. :) And - sorry, hens, but I'm a bit busy to offer you a seaside holiday at present - maybe some other time? About a hundred years should do it... ;)

No - mine was in Sheffield. But one of my colleagues was down your way this week. Was singing the praises of Pompey - both as a town and a university.

That's really good to know - it makes me happy when 'my' External Examiners are happy. :D

    1) Long, long lie-in this morning. It might have been even longer if the postman hadn't knocked at the door and got me up. :o

    2) Wandered into M&$ to collect my glitch-funded t-shirts, and found a nice new mug (which I need as I banged my favourite one on the tap while washing up and took a big chip out of the rim :o), with 20% off, then another 20% off. :money:

    3) Reverbed 5p. Then, when I got home, I had a final check through my old, broken purse before throwing it out, and found 4 first class stamps hiding in the back, which almost counts as another Reverbe. :money:

    4) A miserable, gusty day, so I spent a chunk of the afternoon playing silly computer games - free ones, of course. :money:

    5) Treating myself to a takeaway pizza tonight, as an early birthday treat: I'm not sure whether to go for PH (which are cheaper and have nicer toppings) or D's (which have nicer bases - particularly the stuffed crust ones - and better sides (mozzarella sticks )).
Back after a very long break!

    4. Freecycling several items.

Yay, chicken has returned to the coop :)

    2 days' pleasures:

    1. good night out last night (I am still paying for it now...)

    3. hugs and snuggles with dd when she came back.

    4. was able to help a friend with an item of clothing for her daughter to wear to be a munchkin in a show :)

    5. have sorted out more stuff for the next car boot sale.

    6. dd and I helped for an hour or so at the school fete, it was good to see lots of people there despite the lack of sunshine.

    7. wore my new to me waterproof coat - and at last I have a coat that really is waterproof! hoorah!

    8. dd and I had a snooze and watched lots of tom and jerry cartoons in my bed when we got back :) much needed...

now watching grand designs with a sore finger (hence the lack of typing elegance) as I grated one of my fingers into the cheese last night and I can't type properly!

Welcome back, Chicken and good news on the mended ring.

    Hello, Dashurie.

Kittikins - I got so fed up of grating bits of myself that I now stick a fork in things I grate so my hand is further away!

Now got cold to accompany the sore throat, as has bigger son.

    Pleasures for today!

    1) A lie in!

    2) Went swimming with sons and my brother.

    3) Sons had an extended nerf gun fight.

    4) Fish and chips from the travelling bus for tea.

    5) I had a tweet from Boy George! Had to explain to sons who he is but I was ridiculously excited. :-)

Sunday morning here but here are my Saturday pleasures:

A bright but cold day....any excuse to wear my coat, boots ,gloves and scarf!

Train into the city ...at the weekends it only costs $3.50 for all day travel on bus, tram and train.

We had a wander around the very busy and very big Queen Victoria Markets. We didn't buy anything but it was a nice atmosphere and lovely smell of fruit and veg.

Saturday scone and hot chocolate and read of the papers in a nice cafe.

Train home and then a snooze on the sofa....I was trying to finish my book but woke up rather bewildered 2 hours later!

Nice chats with friends on phone. As usual lovely to catch up with them and their news and the local gossip!

Beans on toast for tea....friend was making beans on toast for breakfast so I pinched the idea! Love beans on toast!

Early night.....again was planning on finishing my book...then woke up this morning!!

    Morning all

Welcome Dashurie and welcome back Chicken. Some boy racers (are they still called that?) in a hot hatch were roaring through town the other day, loud music, heavy base. When they stopped at lights I caught up with them only to hear "Mr Blue Sky" reverberating round their car :rotfl:Ooh and Life On Mars has a brilliant twiddly piano bit I love - it lasts about 1 second and is just as he sings "walks through her sunken dream". My funeral song is "Perfect Day" but the Lou Reed version not that terrible BBC abomination and Dusty Springfield "Goin Back"

Poor Frith - hope you feel better soon. I recommend a spoonful of honey with cinnamon mixed in, works a treat.

    Yesterdays pleasures

    1. A visit to Dad - he was fairly chirpy and there were no problems with trains - except there was no wifi on the one to London :(
    2. My bro had cooked a roast with fantastic spuds :T
    3. Walked home from station with OH and DS who had been elsewhere for the day. DS actually walked through town with both of his parents. He may never recover - especially if he was seen :rotfl:
    4. Fantastic rose bush in dad's neighbour's garden - the scent was amazing! And zillions of bright yellow roses. Dad's white rosebush was also full of flowers - white roses always remind me of my mum, but I'm not sure why (oh duh!, probably because of the bush in dad's garden!)
    5. DD, who was at home most of the day, had made broccoli soup and bought tiger bread which was ready for us when we got in :T

    Have a wonderful day all
I wanna be in the room where it happens

CCP glad to hear olop is a cheap date ! Hopefully all fixed now

Dundee - U2 Stuck in a moment - when I was mid-seperation I had to pull over in the car when it came on because I had tears streaming down my face at some of the lyrics :o

    http://www.u2.com/discography/lyrics/lyric/song/126

Frith get well now !! and WOW Boy George !! I have to admit I fancied him when he first hit the charts :o but then how was I to know in my innocence :o ...... lets face it how many of us drooled over George Michael too ;)

BoP hope you are ok and sunday service has resumed?

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. lovely lie in until 10.30
    2. managed a decent walk... took some glass to bottle bank so more space at home
    3. went with a friend to local fayre. It was very windy on the field but had a wander round and watched a bit of the dog show (local kids with their pets) and oohed and ahhed over the birds of prey
    4. back to friends house for cuppa to warm up ! She also gave me a new-to-me book that she'd got for me from the library sale for 30p
    5. DS borrowed a DVD from a friend so we sat and watched it together with shop bought pizza (99p) so saved some money on takeaway

(((Hugs))) to all. Have a good Sunday x
