    3) we managed to have the community bbq! A couple of short periods of rain but we have a couple of gazebos. Tons of young children, lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves. And we won 2 bottles of plonk in the raffle
    4) came in earliesh (took the opportunity to tell close friends about end of marriage which was a bit exhausting) and watched the murray queens final on iplayer

  • Have a lovely day all ! Who stole the sun ??
That'll be BoP not putting a penny in the meter again ;)
How can I put the Yellow thing on when I am under Ms Whack!

Hugs to chicken, on her MRI scan.

Just heard that Great Aunt Nancy passed away. Aged 92. Just 8 short of the ton. Good innings built on drambuie.

Just had Fish, Chips and mushy peas, steamed pud and lumpy custard.

But stuffed, so am going out to yard with brew and beer.

    Happiness to all.

    Evening all.

BoP - sorry for your loss.

Dashurie - welcome to the thread. :)

It's been a manky old day on the south coast again, so I've been rather lazy:

    1) Another very long lie-in. I don't know what's got into me at the moment - I can easily sleep for 12 hours if no-one wakes me up. :o

    2) NSD and NPD.

    3) Finally got round to splitting up and freezing the four pint bottle of milk I got for a pound last week - I know I'm meant to be emptying out the freezer but that was too good to resist.

    4) Watched the Hickstead Derby (showjumping) - a good competition but perhaps a little over-exciting at times, with more riders than anyone really likes to see ending up lying on the ground clutching parts of themselves. One guy fell off and dislocated his shoulder, got it put back, got on another horse and came back for another go! (And fell off again, actually, but it was brave nonetheless!)

    5) Found a tub of Thai yellow curry sauce that had gone past its use-by date, but it smells and tastes fine so it's now tonight's dinner. :)
Back after a very long break!

Oh, I've just remembered another one:

    6) Seeing 'my' fox sheltering from the weather in what used to be Moggett's favourite spot in the garden. He's looking very sleek and healthy, I'm very pleased to see. :)

    Good evening all !

Thanks for welcoming me back in to the fold and welcome Dashurie sweet post

VJsmum- I agree with you ..Perfect Day .Fantastic ;) I am glad that your Dad is well .

CCP - Racing folk .. used to call Showjumpers dogs poo on razor blades...I had to have it explained to me too:o

Dundee- Jarvis the Cocker Spaniel :rotfl:I got £1 back as the horse was a Non Runner and the jockey that I had backed all afternoon was due to ride the Non Runner , got another ride and won on it. Still enjoyed watching it - except the horse dying of a heart attack seconds after passing the winning post having won:(

Skintos - your day sounded nice .

Kittikins - ouch. I hope you didn't end up eating your grated body part !

Frith - I hope you feel better soon.

    Lovefullshelves - ;);)

    5 for today

    1. Picking loads of strawberries from our garden. Whilst fighting off the hens who wanted to get in there and scrabble around.

2.Took terrier and DM to our lovely local park . DM has not taken her anywhere except around the block as she does not drive and is has mobility issues at the moment . She was amazed at how good the terrier is when let off the lead, ignores other dogs etc.

    3.OH cooked a roast.

    4. Stephen the Seagull watched us eating our meal through the window and helped himself to the leftovers from the plate in my hand. He deserves it this week as he has been dive bombing foxes and cats in our garden who have been worrying the hens.

5.Reading a book I enjoyed the first time around on the Kindle.

    6. My brother is 50 tommorrow . Slipping one of those "50 plus" insurance things in his birthday card may me chuckle.:rotfl:I am the only one who will be able to get away with that.

    back to work tomorrow yuck!
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

mhags the only word I recognise from your list is oxters, looked up the others and bahookie is definitely my word of the week!
CCP excellent news about Olop, what a relief! Had to smile at Mr Blue Sky, on arrival at some airport or another many years ago we were looking for our transport to our hotel and there was a very funny little man running up and down arrivals waving a banner in the air and calling 'Blue Thky, Blue Thky, thith way for Blue Thky!'. Funny how some things stick in the mind :)
ampersand grand news too re your exhaust. Hopefully everyone is now up and running again
Welcome back chicken pleased you're connected once more :D. Long may it last. New car is nothing as grand as an OGV, it's another little Korean job. Kefi lasted so well it seems wise to go with the devil I know. Fun driving a modern car, so many gizmo's to learn about.
VJsmum I wanted a song from The Wizard of Oz at my funeral but very few saw the funny side of Ding Dong the Witch is Dead. No sense of humour, some people...;)
Welcome Dashurie  good to have you aboard, we're county neighbours
BoP so sorry to hear about your Aunt. Age is immaterial, it's always sad when someone passes.

    1. Occasional glimpses of yellow thing between showers
    2. Starting to rebuild the pot after last week's big spend - got a weeks shopping in @ldi for £14
    3. Reverbe'd 5p in the car park
    4. Had to prop the plum tree up as it's so laden with young fruit it was in danger of bowing over/snapping
    5. Looking forward to seeing how little petrol I use on my run down to visit DM tomorrow.

    Sweet dreams

I'm not quite sure what that means, but it doesn't sound particularly complimentary! Strangely enough the rider who won the speed derby yesterday was a former jump jockey - a former Grand National winner, actually - which has got to be pretty rare.

Anyway, work tomorrow - boo :( - so night, all.

Well done dashurie - and Welcome:-)
Boy George connection here too - via something late and beloved R founded. Always liked him.
vjm - first your son brings us Narp and now he's even more teen-ormal. In future, kindly pretend you are unrelated as you walk through town. Such was the order of things in 60's small town NZ for Friday late night shopping[9pm, middle of the night!] Had some gorgeous tatoes myself this week. w8rs rtc's 19p. They were absolutely, exceptionally delicious - new variety called Baby Ruby, worth seeking out.

    1. Proustian moments ce soir opening and preparing and enjoying tricolore heart pasta, brought back from sunnier place last summer.....why am I not there?
    2. Another rainswept fête[two this w/e]windy, cold - summer solstice and summer solstice plus one. 2 more bags of No More Plants and one of No More Books.
    3. Bunnies and hens obliging and happy[well, they seem so]. All enjoyed the dandelions I hunted down this morning. 2 more eggs tonight.
    4. Back in time for England's, eventually, doleful innings. Exciting if foreshortened match. Started listening when I pulled over in car, en route back from fête, to have Thermos green tea and quiet survey of landscape. I can therefore swear on oath that bop zapped the remote at 1543h Fen-time, but switched it off a mere 4 minutes later. Sum total of sun this weekend.
    5. Beconase spray is helping. Wish it could do same for you and son, frith. What is a nerf gun?

Looking forward very much to lemon drop pie recipe lfs and I lurve bunny stew, another harkback to NZ 50's childhood, until myxamatosis was introduced.

Quick pleasures from me today as in the thick of this cold!

    1) Bit of a lie in.

    2) Smaller son brought me crunchy nut cornflakes in bed!

    3) Sons went climbing/abseiling after lunch with brother in law. I did a lot of watching. Smaller son came home with me and bigger son stayed and bil dropped him off at teatime.

    4) My school friend came round and has just gone.

    5) Smaller son's choice for tea: cottage pie, jacket potatoes and peas.

    6) All homework done. :-/

    evening all

Similar to the twiddly piano bit in Life on Mars, there is a finger click in Dire Straits' Romeo and Juliet that I adore. One finger click, and yet..

BoP - sorry for your loss
    Happy birthday to brother Chicken
    Ampersand - I use beconase twice a day, every day. I notice if I don't - it's on BOGOF at Mr S at the moment. I got 4 :D

    Sparrer - LOL

A quiet - ish one today. Partly cos of the weather

    1. Woke up at 6.30, bummer, but at least I had a quiet hour to myself as the Tamworth pig had gone into the spare room
    2. Finished the Harry Potter audiobooks whilst doing the ironing. Harry was victorious, sadly I never finished the ironing
    3. Happily OH did tonight! :D
    4. Went out with DD for lunch and a little light shopping. She needed new undies and my credit card with which to buy them.
    5. OH cooked cajun chicken for tea. Yummy and a breast left for tomorrow.

Off for a spot of private teaching with the procurement section of a local tourist attraction, teaching them some contract law. Wish me luck as I've never stepped outside of my own industry before.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
