DundeeDoll sorry to hear your sad news

    Mine for today

    1. lovely sunny day, washing done and line dried

    2. nice lunch out with friend who has just finished work and gone self employed, so lots to chat about. We were going to the local pub but when we got there the bar card machine was broken and it was cash only. We both only had debit cards but the cash machine in the pub was £1.80 a go  So we headed off to the local deli/sandwich shop instead, which was cheaper than the pub and we sat outside watching the world go by

    3. managed a walk to another friends who lives nearby and delivered her birthday card

    4. making arrangements with another friend to go out for her birthday tomorrow....
....lots of friends have birthdays end may/beginning of June, but we have agreed not to buy presents and you can get some lovely cards in card factory for 59p. Its the thought that counts!

    5. payday ! Treat of indian takeaway using 20% off voucher
    0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗
House sale OCT 2022 = NOW MORTGAGE FREE 🤗
House purchase completed FEB 2023 🥳🍾 Left work. 🤗

Retired at 55 & now living off the equity £10k a year (until pensions start at 60 & 67).

    1. After nothing much day, ready for bed again after sudden desire for bacon, egg, tomato. Lots of green tea today. I like its rich red highlights.
    2. Spent several hours trying to organise coach>flight+carhire for watching Toulon vs Castres amid friends, but it doesn't work. Even rang French Embassy to seek advice[surely logged as their Mad Woman Call for the day]. Eventual fruit borne with phone call to mob.no found on London French rugby site. Gentilhomme - lucky man, he's going to Le Match - directed me to TV5Monde via Sky799, of which I've never heard. 2nd call of day to Cambridge rugby pub, The Alma: another v. nice man checked it out and says YES! Even if I am the sole person watching, he will happily screen it.
    3. Found another Spits £50 tucked in fold of bag lining.
    4. Sunny afternoon!!! Outside driftily on sun lounger, with book - mostly unread - as little country played its way to unlikely victory in the game of willow on leather. Nice century for Guptill. Small croonings of nextdoor's girls announced a couple of eggs.
    5. nsd/npd,but also a ngd - not good - should have done SOME planting...
    6. Bee taking nectar from just opening honeysuckle at kitchen window just now. Distant background tractor up and downing in green field. Quiet blend of country sounds.
    7. ....as Einaudi ends this rather perfectly on radio.

sparrer - hope you've had a fair journey to DM on her birthday and a good celebration on all fronts.
I hear[and know]what you say re:eggshells/sharp things for slugs. Regret they just don't work round here.
bop - re-sole shoes with embedded screwdriver tips for the slimy blighters, then dance the night away with Lady Bop. Should put paid to a few of them.

    Tired!

Here are my pleasures for today:

    1) Was at my friends' house so finished painting their living room this morning.

    2) Went round the second hand shops down there.

    3) Good journey home on the train.

    4) Lots of texts and phone calls from smaller son.

    5) MrN had fed the cats for me.

    6) Just had an Indian takeaway and eaten it watching Have I Got News For You.

    7) Bed before too long and will listen to the Now Show.

Well folks, Mr, Mrs and Miss Tutu look like they may have another buyer for their house, so things could be back on!!! Hopefully I'll have confirmation tomorrow, but the estate agent was very hopeful this afternoon :)

Feeling a bit tipsy after getting to know some people in our 'new/old' village so no more pleasures, but DD and I have had a great evening and the day was jolly good too!

Fingers and toes crossed that the news turns out to be good re: house!!

Fingers and toes crossed down under for you kittikins

Well it's Saturday afternoon and OH and I are sitting in companionable silence in my office.....like 2 bookends!

DD1 has 2 friends over to study....well after they made chocolate brownies and giggled and chatted ...they seem quieter now as they work....so we are keeping out their way!

Last couple of days have been pleasant enough, work has been okay....potentially being promoted ( on a potentially temporary basis) ...will announce loudly if it actually happens!

Went out for dinner with OH on Thursday night...made macaroni for the kids then skedaddled! Nice just to have a catch up ,just the 2 of us.

Then this morning there was NO Saturday scone .......but even better a Scottish Saturday breakfast! I have passed a cafe on my way to work (for past 2 years, day in and day out!) and this week I noticed a sign saying Scottish Breakfast Available .....so we checked it out this morning and are still stuffed full 4 hours later!

Slice sausage ( delicious ) , potato scone ( delicious) , gorgeous mushrooms, 2 poached eggs on toast, beans, haggis and black pudding ( both chucked on OHs plate...bleurgh!) it was not cheap and we won't be going every week but soooo nice to know its available nearby if the fancy takes!!

Then slightly too stuffed to move we did the supermarket shop! Lots bought on special offers.

Went to our local green grocers for fruit as it was cheaper than supermarket ( but isn't always)

We had a very big storm last night from 6pm and it rumbled on and on all night, the wettest start to June ever! 100mm of rain fell. Our garage had a bit of water leaking through and some framed pictures got a bit soggy but seem to be okay...they have been moved now!

Had a nice chat with my oh so wise friend this morning....as normal she puts me back on the right track of things! Nice to catch up on her news.

That's about it...off to try some chocolate brownie !

    Have a great weekend :)

Drunken Slugs. What is the world coming to! Mind yous, last notes chicken tikka storms, brewed from Wednesday, was stuffingly good. Just why does out tiger insist on bringing it back in.

1 Got treaders to service this morn. Thinks Ms BoP's will be given an extra bit of wobblebum.

2 Full English, and the Teasmade has gone off

3 The yellow thing is out again

4 See some think the England Football team will do some good. It died in Leon, Mexico, 14th June 1970

5 If you have been successful on your garden, chickens or photography, take a bow. You deserve credit for what you're worth.

Arrrrrrrrghh, just checked my hands after yesterday's curry. All stained by the termites used to make it.

DD how very sad, as was said before no-one should have to bury their child, no matter what age
Poor you kittikins, what a roller coaster ride. Hope it stops in your favour now
ampersand the Cambridgeshire slugs are obviously a hardier breed than Beds ones!
BoP ewwww! Some methods of dispatching the creatures mentioned here are gross!
Chicken but wouldn't that just be like drinking an English version of Spanish Fly? I don't know if it would have the supposed effect on BoP though ;)
Skint hurrah for Card Factory, when I'm near one I buy lots of cards so almost always have an appropriate one at home rather than buying them at ridiculous prices from the village shop
Frith pleased you enjoyed your break
    OT lemon cake - yum!
mhags the Scottish breakfast sounds a delicious alternative to a scone, I love haggis, black pud etc. You can keep the beans though, horrid things not allowed in my house! Good luck on the potential promotion :)

    1. DM much improved yesterday, very clear-headed and aware what's going on/where she is, thank goodness. She declined the use of a stick when she went to the bathroom - always says if she uses one she'll look like an old woman! She had a good birthday, lots of visitors, presents, phone calls etc. Also she's come to the conclusion that she has to stop drinking as she admits she's very frightened of it happening it again. We do wonder if blood will start to fill her veins again, instead of the brandy she's been pouring into them over the years! ;). Going again on Monday, DB and S-in-L said every third day is more than reasonable, I'm very grateful for their understanding
    2. Unfortunately some people who didn't know patients aren't allowed flowers sent quite a lot so S-in-L, niece and I took some home. I gave half of mine to DNeighbour for being so kind, looking after the furpets while I'm out all day
    3. Day at home with no commitments other than maybe the lawn and some dusting...
    4. ...hence nsd/npd
    5. Checked my bank account, the new bank has kept to its word and given me a nice amount of interest for the first month. Long may it last!

Enjoy the weekend, BoP please send some yellow stuff this way, it was supposed to arrive this morning but seems to have lost its way! :)

    Art'noon

DD - so sorry for your loss, but also wanted to say well done to your DD on her 2:1 - fantastic achievement and not easy to get.

Sparrer - glad your DM is improving.
Mhags - I've never had haggis, but i'm a bit of a bean phobic, i can't stand opening the tin or washing up a pan and if I get any bean juice on my fingers  And yet I can eat them - but not on toast.
Fingers crossed this time lucky, Kittikins

    Yesterdays pleasures

    1. Sunshine! :D
    2. Got the shopping done in record time - I was up out and back before either of the kids even knew I'd gone.
    3. Coffee and catch up with friend in her garden, and an enjoyable walk down the road and back to her house
    4. Fish for tea - cost just under 5p each as 4 pieces were reduced to 19p. it was surprisingly nice
    5. Actually bothered to go to Aquacise with DD - i really enjoy it and should bother more.
    6. Kitchen is half clean and i got 4 loads of washing done.

having a day gardening, am just having a lunch break which includes salad leaves and radishes fresh from the garden- with grilled halloumi and a slice of bacon. Lish.

    Have a great afternoon all
I wanna be in the room where it happens
