A lot of catching up to do there, thank you for all your posts. Mhagster, a big hug to your DD and to you, my daughter lost a good friend at a similar age, a massive stroke. I still think of a beautiful, friendly blonde girl chatting happily on our sofa with a beaker of squash at school lunchtimes. So much is forgotten, but that image will always stay.

Chicken, diamond found, wow, what are the odds on that! Wonderful. Also glad you heard from your tutor, haven't heard from mine yet, but as I know, that tutor probably has half a dozen jobs.

Sparrer, here's to parents defying age.

My Oldest (length of friendship - 51 years) Buddy is now on her way to Sydney from Brizzie to catch the plane to London, her 80 year old mother goes under the knife in a lung cancer op next week.

This op is not normally offered to 80 year olds but her Mum, V. is not your standard 80 year old, she lives independently, walks her dog daily, has interests outside the home etc etc.

    V. was going to say no, but 2 of her UK based daughters were utterly horrified, they are not ready to let her go just yet. So our woman of courage is going for it, second op this year after one on her knee didn't go exactly as planned.

God willing, pal will be able to come up and see me, I do hope so. If not, the prospect of long phone chats instead.

    1. Angrove2013.jpg This is Angrove Fatrascal, Fatty, I went to see Fatty and Boo at the stud yesterday. Sorry for the photo quality, he was way across the paddock and the only way to ensure a halfway decent shot was to enlarge on pc. Fatty is fond of racing his aunt, he shares a paddock with her. He hates to be beaten by her, it all augurs well. Apart from his having to skid to a halt in mud at the end of the field - heart in mouth stuff.

    2.AngroveStud260513004.jpg

This is four week old Angrove Mumsbuns, Boo, who is a big girl, much bigger than her half- brother Fatty was at the same age. Full of attitude, which is great, shy bairns get no sweets in racing. Yesterday she was copying the others in yelling for breakfast. Mum is flat out producing enough milk for her. Sadly she was right across the other side of the paddock most of the time, so no cute foal feeding shots.

    3. stedifoot002.jpg
This isn't a 'funny angle' pic, it's the gizmo - a Stedifoot - fitted to my walking stick to steady me on slippy floors and rough ground. Worked a treat at the stud, where we had a lovely time and this helped me to get up close.

    4. One of the Angrove co-owners is ex Head Lass of a racing yard I follow closely, and was full of chat around the horses they train.
It was interesting to hear that their most famous horse was an absolute sod at home who never showed the slightest willingness to work, yet he shone at the track, and thanks to frequent TV appearances, became a racing world household name.

    5. Enjoyed the appearance of the yellow thing, sat in the sun stuffing my features with barbie grub at the stud. Further visits are planned. They are such a great crowd, joining them was one of the best things I've ever done.

    6. Nearly forgot... we couldn't cuddle Fatty or Boo, but I did get horsey cuddles from a most unlikely candidate, the stallion Angrove Spottedick, Pudding.
Pudding is a big softie at home. He leaves the stud to do the biz with mares, where he is an all action boy, but he is never aggressive at home, he came over for his cuddles and fuss and was very happy to see us all.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

A quick few from my phone!
Glad you had a nice bank holiday weekend , 2 more weeks until we get an extra day off for the Queen's Birthday!

Saw ( heard him first) a kookaburra on the tree outside work, he had a chicken drumstick in his mouth!!

Saw a stunning water bird yesterday , it was so large, bigger than a heron with a big pointy beak. I've never seen it before.

Work ...hmmm! Was okay and got paid again! I do like fortnightly pay, which is the norm here. Never get properly skint!!

Nice chat with my mum , she's just back her holidays .

OH had hospital check up today and got on okay which is a relief, I'm always on edge.

My kids doing well at school and being healthy and happy, we have the funeral tomorrow . Trying to prepare DD2 but I'm not too sure how it will be myself.

Dinner of chocolate for me and I wonder why I don't lose weight!
    However it was tasty!

Have a lovely Tuesday , almost bedtime for me :)

BoP - could you send me whichever pudding you decided not to eat, please? Any of the three would be fine! ;)
Only crumbs left, I cam put them in an envelope!
a Stedifoot - fitted to my walking stick to steady me on slippy floors and rough ground. Worked a treat at the stud, where we had a lovely time and this helped me to get up close.
Could come in useful when wobbleades are too many.

Do not lie in bed waiting in the morning because there is nothing to do, the later you rise, the less time you have to do them

1 Just had the last home made bun, with extra grunchiness, Sun Blushed Italiano Bread. Recipe

Normal Dough mix for 12 buns, with added basil, chives, pitch of garlic and squirt of tomato puree.

2 Usual rules on the recipe, just that the yeast (Beast yeast used here), is woken in a cup with some warm water and a splish of sugar!

3 One local got taken over recently, and is now added to the carp list.

4 Waterboarding this morning, I nose, yellow thing is switched off, blessed SevernTrent has not gis us a bill again! Get on with it.

5 Too many wobbleades last night! Late up, who cares!

It is in the white bits again!

My putah is back!.....-ish. On verra. It's taken a day and a half, interspersed with BGD: Big Gardening Day and popping up to next recovery/reboot/reinstal/re-everything/rebuild stage on and off all night.
    So -

    1. nsd/npd/BGD yesterday. Peas, toms, beans, many shrubs/plants, some trees[others waiting], triffid strawbs all dug, potted, planted, composted as appropriate. Also took down established pêche de vigne which died from last year's cold, much as I willed otherwise. I have another which has survived in pot, peach leaf curl et al, for last umpteen years and it can be the replacement. Also took bold saw to lower branches of millenium oak, so eventual sitting underneath is poss. Didn't cause an 'Agh, what have I done?' when I looked out, so fingers crossed. Hope oak feels the same.
    2. ...and when I looked out, the yellow thing isn't there, but more will be done today, although it's raining again.
    3. Still love new trailer. In same way as I've known about pêche de vigne, I've known trusty trailer [old memories/France attached]was also nearing demise. Every use had me half-expecting The Law and lights haven't worked for yonks. That's why the appearance of Shiny Black Beautifully Engineered One-off Home-Made Tip-top Design is timely and perfect. Dropping off extra Thankyou to lovely Retired Engineer and wife today.
    4. Grauniad catch-up and page on someone+wife long-known, laterally connected with our charity, first met when R was still alive. Pic caption is wrong, but that's Grauniad Nomral.
    5. Man drawer reading absolutely replicates a Fruit Bowl Thread we had a few years ago. Conditions of Entry precluded fruit, unless it was Past Recognisable Date. Many lol posts there.

So, grand welcomes to you skitzo[sorry, can't do all your finesses].
chicken - JOY! ...gal's best friend re-found. Wonderful to re-live now, too.
kittikins - excellent takings - and they're nesting in at Bank as we speak. Yes, I know Bills do call, but every penny in interest is good.
frith - heard the weather....wet beach on and off-shore? Regardless, we know you and sons will be having a great day.
But lfs is pleased after all that planting. Mine shrivels to nerozero besides that!
sparrer - all caring to you as your maman's recovery progresses and future needs are assessed. You need to pace and guard yourself too. We remember a couple of your absences and why. Consider yourself equally bossed, please.
McCulloch - you do give us vivid posts with pics and such a sense of being out with you and the four-foots. Thankyou.
bop - re: 'Do not lie in bed waiting in the morning because there is nothing to do, the later you rise, the less time you have to do them'. I like it.

Wish the yellow thing was here today, but chicken's Shiny Thing lights up my day now. And unlikely fact that I may have fixed something putahry.

Will I now hunt for Super 14 Toulon vs Toulouse watching/attending? On verra.
