5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Evening all! Just had a lovely dinner of tagliatelle with bacon, mushrooms and red onion. Very yummy!
I had a relatively pleasant day at work until the last half hour when I let a colleague annoy me ( she often does! ) however I don't have to see her tomorrow so that's fine!!
Sat on my break with 2 of my nice ladies again. Had a good wee blather with them. Nice of them to include me.
Popped into supermarket to buy cream for pasta and the man with the baskets of fruit and veg was there! Fill a bag for $3....so in my bag I got 2 huge onions , parsnips ( parboiled and waiting to cool then into freezer) , apples, satsumas and half a pumpkin! Quite happy with my haul! Apparently he's there at that time most days!
Also got rtc red onions. Used a voucher so no cash spent
Nice walk with dd1 , the sky was stunning with sun staring to set.
Made a rtc sausage-y , roast veg ( including the aubergine) with a pasta sauce for girls dinner with garlic bread . They don't like tagliatelle . Enough left for a couple of freezer portions .
Made a plum, apple and pear crumble using up some sorry looking fruit and a crumble mix form the freezer. In oven whilst sausages were cooking.
Bashed some rtc shortbread , melted some butter and that's in the fridge cooling. Then will add chocolate condensed milk and top with chocolate for a kind of millionaire shortbread.
Think that's me! OH continues to munch on food which is good , makes a nice change!
Have a lovely day0 -
Oh, the ex MrFrith is being very silly... he hasn't had a car for a fortnight so I have (against my solicitor's advice) been ferrying the boys up and down to his house on "his" days. Saturday I said I couldn't keep doing it so he came up on his bike, then we had the tears of smaller son who didn't want to cycle 10 miles in the sun.
Yesterday he made them cycle down so I had to pick them up. Today I have had a text demanding I take them down (its a 10 miles round trip) and I said no, that I am out. He came up here in a taxi. He obviously saw my car because I got a text saying "Now you are home can you come for the boys at 6.30". Bored of this game, I've texted back saying its his responsibility. No doubt we will all suffer for my insubordination....
Anyway, a very pleasant and busy day here apart from him! Here are my pleasures:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Sons off to school reasonably happy.
3) Emailed bigger son's homework in to his teacher (we have no printer ink) and got a cheery reply that she will print it out for him.
4) Took some of my chocolate bread down for my brother.
5) Went into town and got loads of jobs done! Took my old pairs of glasses to Specsavers for recycling. Got bigger son a top as requested. Got various other bits of pieces and stood my ground in the Orange shop for half an hour and nearly have my phone contract sorted out. Also did the many charity shops and got sons a t shirt each. Then went to the FREE book shop and got 2 books (left a donation). Ordered the long length swimming costume I need and it will be delivered on Thursday.
6) Took some school uniform back to Sainsburys (as the ex suddenly "found" smaller son's uniform he had been hiding) and got £10 back. :-)
7) Stopped at the local nursery and got some plants for my new strip of garden.
8) Sons Ebay things have pretty much all sold and they've made another £20 between them. Have been packaging them up and sent them off from the post office.
9) Jeans and jumpers drying in the sunshine.
10) Going to wait for sons to go to sleep before watching Holby City and have bought myself my twice yearly bottle of cider. Its from a local place (of which there are many) and will be very nice.
11) Might take sons for a paddle in the river later if it stays this hot.0 -
1. Parcel en route>Welsh Marches.
2. Annoying endless calls re: broadband and standing orders being returned. Had gone to Bank to query the £8 deposits received for the last 3 weeks. Have just finished another 2 hr hold/call[freephone, thank goodness]only to be told a/c's dept goes home at 5. Why couldn't I have been told earlier??? Wretched girl KNEW this before tfr'g me to wait for pointless boy.:mad::mad: Why have I written that as a pleasure, when I really need to prep/relax self and car and pleasant mood pour ma France, la belle? Calm down dear, calm down.
3. I miss my robin family, but think of them with pleasure, hoping they're surviving.
4. It's a long time since I made millionaires' shortbread, mhags. First done in secret when I was 9-ish, it was found by my mother hidden at back of bedside cabinet. It was an expensive thing to make then - from the old GHB recipe book, another colonial standby.
5. Still haven't found 'phone - gone since Friday. Infuriating when all my dates, addresses etc are on it - and I'm a low-tech PAYG person. At long last managed to get SIM blocked @Tesco. It's been a raft of phonings/nonsenses/annoyances/delays over the last week, not exactly nirvana. Oh dear, that's a not-pleasure as well.
I'd best call a halt, except that nice weather's due to depart too, I hear. Madame Eeyore signing off 'til vendredi.

Frith - you will not suffer for 'insubordination'. Just follow solicitor's advice and don't make yourself a hostage to fortune by departing from it. We've all followed you on a steady upward path, sometimes in dazzling leaps, with a son under each arm.
No waverings now. Forward any such texts to solicitor. Mr ex-OH can take 'grievances' up with his.
Enjoy that glass[or two]of cider. Mr New Mattress will reward you with even better sleep.:DCAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Evening
Pleasures for today,
1. Back into good habits today and all had a packed lunch and breakfast
2. Received a late birthday present off someone I work with plus a punnet of grapes as a thank you.
3. Low spend day just 56p, much needed after all the spending of the weekend.
4. DD telling me dinner was very yummy, did slow cooked beef in pepper sauce with Rosti potatoes.
5. DD fell asleep on the bus home from college so met me at work and walked home together, nice to have a bit of company even if she wasn't to impressed at walking.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Bon voyage pour demain Ampersand x
Pleased to hear OH is still happily chomping away Mhagster, mind you with the lovely food you cook, no surprise there! x
1. Sunshine
2. Sat out on a bench in the sun to eat my lunch and watched the world go by
3. Enjoyed cuddles with DD throughout the night and a very random conversation when I came back to bed after my traditional middle of the night pottering about, she was 99% asleep but the 1% of her that was awake was hilarious!
4. Great day at work, busy but not too much.
5. Fabulous time with the Rainbows tonight, they love this term's activities
6. Had a lovely chat with DD's headmaster to tell him of our probable move and he nearly made me cry by saying that if/when we come back to the area, he will do everything in his power to give DD a place back at the school as she is a very valuable member of the school0 -
Been awol for a day or two, seem to have spent some time packing and unpacking my suitcase! The weather in Oban was 9, then 19, and today 10 with rain. Hw bottle of suncream? Or both?
Hugs to all
Good news about OH's appetite mhags, hope it lasts
Frith I echo ampersand's sensible words, just forward any texts etc and let the correct channels deal with them. Ex Mr Frith is digging a hole so deep he'll not be able to climb out. Silly man
Kittikins what a lovely thing for the head to say
CCP so pleased that your foot isn't so painful, must be amazing to be able to walk on it
1. 2 nsd/npd's
2. house and garden looking at their best. The white lilac tree has more blossom on it than ever before, just coming out as I'm away. Typical! Have told neighbour she has to take a photograph of it
3. Have to cross London at 10.30pm tomorrow so have looked up cost of cabs, it's doable so rather than try to negotiate escalators and tubes with a suitcase I can do it comfortably and safely. A great relief as I wasn't looking forward to the tube
4. A friend has given me even more cat food her mog refuses. We have enough to last months now
5. Dog is all trimmed and groomed ready to go to DD for his holidays in the morning. He's looking very smart and feels lovely and silky.
Sweet dreams0 -

3. good meeting with student. I like it when they are keen to get on
4. low calorie food day, but very filling.
5. watering the garden with no sound except the birds twittering. I must be getting old cos I really appreciate moments of silence these days

VJsmum hope the scary meeting today is not as bad as expected x oh and I'm not surprised you feel tired after cycling 18 miles !! You are so energetic it wears me out just reading your posts
CCP great news about your foot
Few quick pleasures:
1. caught up on sleep over the weekend
2. pottered around in the garden on bh Monday
3. quick drive to work and home again yesterday, not much traffic
4. took DS to buy a new bike. He will be cycling to work for a few months until he passes his test and can save enough to buy a car/pay for car insurance. The pleasure is that he made a sensible choice and did not go for the £600 bike he had his eye on
5. afternoon snooze when got home again (after taking pain pills). Feeling much better now I've increased the dose but have to time it right as they make me feel sleepy and lack concentration so cannot drive for a few hours after taking them. Have a meeting with my manager today about hours etc so fingers crossed they will agree to my proposals

Sparrer - Have a lovely holiday
VJsmum - Re the rosti, I cheated and used ready made. I am not very good as making them from scratch either. I don't think I get enough water out of the potato.0
