:easter_os Happy Easter Everyone :icotbaske
Have a lovely Easter Day, enjoy the sunshine while it lasts
:EasterBun :easter: :EasterBun0 -
Morning all.
Thanks for all your good wishes for mog. Sadly his condition deteriorated and the test results showed that he had a particularly nasty form of cancer, so we (the vet and I) took the decision to have him PTS yesterday. RIP Moggett.
Despite that, it hasn't been at all a bad weekend:
1) The lovely, kind vet refused to charge me for putting mog to sleep, as he didn't feel it was fair to charge me even more when it had been such an expensive week. :A
2) Excellent meal out with my sister on Friday at a local Turkish restaurant we're both very fond of.
3) Got my new Kindle - a present from my sister, who won it in a raffle but already has one: I love having new toys to play with.
4) Sunshine. It's so strange looking out of the window and not seeing puddles on the patio.
5) Planning a very lazy day today as my sister and I slightly overdid the mooching yesterday and my foot's quite sore: I'm planning on a mix of playing computer games (free ones, of course :money:) and watching football, followed by an Easter dinner of takeaway pizza.
Have a great Easter Sunday, everyone, despite the loss of an hour this morning. :eek:Back after a very long break!0 -
Oh CCP - so sorry for your loss.I wanna be in the room where it happens0

Good evening all ! Happy easter to one and all
CCP - I am so very sorryR.I.P mog xx
VJsmum - I hope that you got an Easter egg from your lot !Don't think that you will get one from the cockerel though
5 for today
1. The house looks like Willy Wonkas factory.Testing times for someone who used to have "issues" with food - I used to be paid to be extremely emaciated remember;) :rotfl:OH is doing his best to wade through the assortment of chocolates dotted across the lounge .They won't last long.
2. The Teriyaki terrier and I watched the boat race cuddled up on the sofa- she lost, as she thought Cambridge would win , although she was distracted by a box of maltese*s and didn't notice the Oxford Cox use the "f" word which the Beeb apologised for.
3. Dusted off the breadmaker and made some pizza dough - used half the quantity of ingredients stated in the recipe book , rolled it on to tray and brushed the dough with olive oil and crushed garlic and left it to prove. Very nice I must say and cost pence.
4.Dipped hair -using half a box of dye as usualStudied for a bit whilst head was "cooking".
5.Looking forward to watching The Village tonight - young chap actor in it with Italian surname played the role of someone who had Schizophrenia years ago in Hollyoa*s . He was fab. in it, so I hope it's good .
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
CCP, I am so sorry, but well done to an honest vet and you for doing the kindest thing.
Years ago an otherwise lovely neighbour let her arthritis - riddled dog wander the streets (he had been a street dog). Finally, she was made to see sense and his suffering ended.
Chocolate overdose here. DS bought me bars of Green & Black's rather than an egg.
I wish more people rode trikes too. It is still seen as something of a slight oddity, although people blast their horns and wave at me less in recent years. There is another trike in my town plus a recumbent trike, so he is less of a novelty.
I enjoyed all the racing too, esp. Red Cadeaux. I have mixed feelings on Ed Dunlop, as I view him as having messed up the best horse a FB friend has bred, (so far).
A very quiet day, so won't list pleasures until more to add, hope to see DGC soon to give them their gifts.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
CCP - sorry to hear about your cat. :-(
Well, an exciting day chez Frith and chez the parents of Frith!
Here are my pleasures:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hot cross buns for breakfast.
3) Did an Easter egg hunt (complete with post it note clues) for sons. Just inside, too much snow outside!
4) Sons went abseiling! Brother in law is into climbing etc and there is a huge sandstone cave/cliff at the back of mum and dad's in the wood so he had set the ropes up there. We got there 4ish and bigger son went first and we were amazed (but looking nonchalant) when smaller son had a go too! I would guess the cliff is 30metres and 25m of that is a sheer drop.
5) Tea at mum and dad's and brother in law was in charge of the salmon cooking so that was very nice.
6) Lots of Easter eggs.
7) The snow is thawing!
8) Glad the clocks have gone forward because I'm quite tired and looking forward to going to bed and listening to the Archers.
Not sure what tomorrow/next week will bring.... sons are supposed to be going to their father's from tomorrow til Sunday evening and smaller son is adamant that he is not going. Bigger son won't go without him and it will be a massive hoo-hah is they don't go.
Obviously I had pencilled in about 150 jobs that I want to get on with preferably without children around AND I don't particularly want to get taken back to court by the ex husband for "failing to make sons go".
But it would be a weight off my mind if they were here...
ETA Let's have a 9)! My brother had set up a camera in the wood where, if triggered, it filmed for about 15 seconds. It had been there for about 3 weeks. He showed us the snippets off film tonight and he had managed to get footage of a great tit, blackbirds, pheasants, a badger, a fox, a rabbit and LOTS of muntjaks of varying sizes! Some were at night and it was really exciting waiting to see what would appear next. I might check the prices of the cameras and wait for my birthday!0 -
ccp hugs to you x
Well a new month over here , 1st of April already, it feels rather chilly at 8o, so I'm sitting with a sleeping bag over my lap! To be a nice day ( rain past 2) so washing machine is on the go already!
Some weekend pleasures:
Phone calls to friends and family over the weekend , has been nice to catch up.
We went egg rolling in the rain yesterday!
Also had an Easter egg hunt when we came back. 3 mad teenagers trying to find the most eggs was all rather hectic!
Lovely dinner of chicken ,wrapped in soft cheese and bacon, roast potato ,roast parsnips and roast sweet potato, broccoli, snow peas and carrots.
Pudding! Was a choice of pear & apple sponge, strawberry and rhubarb crumble or the most tasty thing I've ever made: a crushed biscuit/ butter base, topped with a tin of chocolate condensed milk mixed with whipped cream and left to set! Less is more! And I wonder why I put weight on!! Definitely a once a year treaty pud!!
Friend phoned....could she pop over in 10 minutes? Of course ! Aaa argh!
Operation tidy up began! ( wasn't that bad and at least my front room was tidy! But DS did dishes, DD1 did kitchen worktops, OH did family room, DD2 downstairs bathroom and me....head coordinator and quick Hoover upperer!! As it was we sat in the very tidy front room!! However all is tidy to start today off!
She brought me a lovely pot of flowering daffodils. Obviously not in season here. I had seen them in supermarket on Saturday and had baulked at the price! She is more generous than me! But knew that I associate my birthday with spring not autumn! lovely
Having time just to do whatever we want, no rush ! 2 days off left. I would normally be at work by now.
Using an $18 voucher to get Easter eggs and another $10 voucher to get Easter sweets, so didn't spend too much !
Buying a quilt that will fill my duvet covers. Australian king size is bigger than UK , so my UK quilt is just too small for the sets I have bought here . Hopefully that will keep us a bit warmer. Temps have dropped overnight and we live in a draughty big house. So now as you hopefully start to warm up...we start to cool down a bit! Our clocks don't change for another couple of weeks when we go back the way! Darker evenings ahead!
There we go , a few pleasures for past few days. I'm pottering through my birthday book, catching up on sleep with a wee siesta in the afternoons, cooking and baking because I want to , not just because I have to, continuing the ' I will get through these blooming Holby episodes if its the last thing I do!!' And enjoying the company of my husband and kids.
Right, off to hang out some washing! Night to you all and enjoy your Easter Monday x0 -
Morning all.
Better get prepped up for me tests tomorrow. I has to starve, so I could be very ruff later.
I see that the bedroom tax comes in today. How just! So we are only one slump away from it as well. Better to stop the slave traders who rely on benefits to subsidise their factory.
On slave traders, our yellow pages was delivered yesterday. Good to see the slave industry doing well in this country.
Pleasure for yesterday.
Very few lorries on the road, except a Tesco one going no where. Was it not good that the shops and emporiums were shut. Why can we not do this more often, like every Sunday. That way, those forced labourers can have a day off without threat from jack boot bosses.
Now, got to take me thirst drink of .... muck. That will shift the carp.0
