5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

1. Have just sent the final version of my new swanky application off- it has been written with input from a retired headteacher, a fabulous teacher (my mummy), a 2 years qualified teacher friend and if Uni 2 don't invite me for interview after this then it's obviously not meant to be this year!!
2. Lovely cuddles with OH
3. Lovely cuddles with DD
4. Picked up DD, her chum and my painted pottery and it was all lovely
5. DD went over to her chum's for tea and I got on with writing the statement in peace.
6. Trying to arrange an evening out with my friend G if her children behave properly on their own so we can go out - teenagers, who'd have'em?!?(that'll be me before I know it.....)

My OS day has been:
1. Being treated to chips for dinner so we had chip butties in front of the telly (oooh the decadence!)
2. Got told I have a press and photo pass for a band I want to see (it's a hobby and I write for a few web magazines)
3. Finding some stamps for overseas - into the box of stamps they went to be used.
4. Finding a first day cover I thought had been destroyed (inside some papers... )
5. Having a FB natter with somebody I haven't spoke to for ages - not quite OS being over the internet but......
And my moniker alas does not come from the wonderful Mr Mercury - Lordy how I miss a real talent like that. I was in Comet before it went bust and they were playing him on the tellies. It was transfixing. Does anyone have that much presence anymore???? No, I speak of 70s/80s electro pioneers Ultravox and their second Midge Ure era album, the cover of which I stitched and they all signed a couple of years ago. I was grinning loon for days :rotfl:But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -
Blimey, Mhags - nearly a year. I hope the new medication helps MrMHags and well done for keeping going in such a capable and cheerful way. Also glad school is going so well for DD2. :-)
Here are my pleasures for today.
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Boys off to school happily.
3) Sainsburys man made it here through the snow!
4) Went swimming with my brother.
5) Popped in to see my Dad who has my cold and also sinusitis and conjunctivitis.
6) Smaller son got 21/21 for behaviour at school.
7) Paid for bigger son's new bus pass (for next term). What a palaver! Web site was terrible, had to phone the county council in the end and get it over the phone.
8) Bigger son and MrN's son5 got off the bus early and went to the farm shop for a milkshake before walking home. :-)
9) Big tea - HM pizza, baked potatoes and sweet potatoes.0 -
mms congrats, hope you'll soon be in you new home
mhags thank you for such a lovely post, you're a very brave lady and I admire you so much. You remind me of a swan, gliding along smoothly on the surface while paddling madly under water to propel yourself forward.
CCP thank goodness for caring vets, I hope he gets to the root of the problem soon
chicken I know what you mean re bites, when Oscar bit me I thought he'd broken my finger. He only did it once, I took a lot more care after that! I hope your toe feels better now
PK you weren't insulting at all, yours were quite mild and I can think of much worse. And might even tell you one day
Sadly Ozzie Oscar passed away this morning. Apparently it's usually difficult to know if birds are ill until it's too late to treat them, and that's what happened. The family had a little funeral for him, he's now in his resting place in the garden.
1. Mentioned to a friend about Oscar and he's going to light a candle and say a rosary for him. The funeral was basically for the DGC so okay, but that's just going too far!
2. A peace lily I bought rtc a few weeks ago is in flower again
3. DNeighbour called in this afternoon, said after thinking about it if I show her how to give Ying her insulin, she'll do it so that I can go to Oban in May. It's a holiday I've had to cancel for 4 years for various reasons and had put plans in place yet again this year. She's the loveliest person, we'd do anything for each other but can't believe she'd offer to do this. We're going to have some practice runs over the Easter holidays to see how it goes but being the confident person she is I've no doubt she's perfectly capable. I would be sorry to miss this year's opportunity, it does feel an awful imposition though. Decisions, decisions....
4. Have treated myself to a copy of The Tenant of Wildfell Hall from @m@zon. I had a £10 voucher from doing surveys so in theory it has cost me nothing and I still have some 'change' left
5. Made a simnel-type traybake to take to this evening's meeting with friends. Happy to report there's none left.
Sleep tight0 -
