Sparrer, yes that little 'x' means more than our adult kids /nearly adult kids realise :j
Chickenopolis, 50 shades of chicken sounds hilarious. What a scream
Jem132, sorry to read that neither you nor your elderly nanna are very well. Hopefully you will soon both feel better. I look forward to reading some of your pleasures when you are feeling better
Mcculloch29, sorry about your friend being so ill. It is a blessing that she remains positive in such difficult circumstances.
Kittikins, (((just hugs a plenty)))
Purple Kitten, sorry to read you have had such a rough time and been in hospital. Give yourself plenty of time to recover. It can take months, let alone weeks, to build up your strength.
Rightio, my pleasures for today are these...
1. Lots of lovely things arrived. Craft stuff aplenty. Have already made birthday cards for my brother, by niece, my son and for my mum for mothering sunday. Was on a roll this evening.
2. Started to get back into my audio books. While crafting i began to listen to The Lovely Bones audiobook. Not a happy clappy story, but i enjoyed the film, despite it's distressing plot-line, and i am enjoying the audiobook.
3. Received the first series on dvd of another american series i like, 'Supernatural'. So pleased. Am saving it for a bit as currently enjoying watching the complete series of another fave, 'Alias'.
4. Cutiepiecolliedog turned into a total slushpile and gave me the most heartwarming cuddles. I think, if she could have spoken english (or if i could understand collie canine language) , i swear she would have told me ' i love you thiiiiiiiiiiiiiis muchhhhhhhhhhh mummy!!'
5. Baked sweet potatoes with braised broccolli, red peppers and baby tomatoes for tea. Simple and satisfying.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Kittikins hope something comes of your meeting with friend re a job with him, unless you here from No 2 uni, of course
CCP pleased to hear moglet continues to eat. Good luck with whatever you decide, although it sounds like you already have. You have to do whatever is right for you
chicken get well now
ampersand you could start a new topic, 'Describe Your Loo Seat'. (For the record mine is white mock T&G, and is the second I've had in 9 years because a hinge broke on the last one ).
mhags keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. (((Hugs)))
PK big (((hugs))) Hope the neb is doing its job, please don't do anything that needs the slightest exertion, just rest as much as you possibly can. I empathise as I know pneumonia is absolutely horrid. I dread having it again, not that I'm likely to with all the meds and machines that keep me going! Do take care
1. Crocuses and snowdrops in bloom, buds on the lilac tree and everything just starting to look a little less brown and muddy than it has done throughout the winter
2. Postie brought me a tube of multi-vitamins, thanks to the freebie board
3. nsd/npd
4. neighbour brought her new grandson in for me to meet. He's a bonny blonde lad who looks just like his mum
5. My Valentine's lunch was spent with DGS, we had a yummy roast and apple pie pud. Can't think of anyone I'd rather have spent it with
Sweet dreams0 -
Hurrah it's still Friday ... Today's pleasures
1.watched more ( sad but true) holby , my Internet credit has now ran out, have changed suppliers, can now tether my Internet to laptop or iPad and no longer have to use tiny phone screen( though that's what I'm using at the moment!) much better deal for less money.
2. My daughters appreciating their porridge and packed lunches being made!
3. Pottered around ( watching Holby as I pottered ) and sorted kitchen cupboards, cleaned bathrooms and hoovered downstairs .
4. Popped out for a loaf of bread and came back with my hair cut!
I went in to make an appointment and my hairdresser was free there and then!
5. OH and I went out for a very leisurely late lunch in a little country town. We sat outside in the 34o heat and were presented with the hugest plates of food I've ever seen. It was delicious and I couldn't eat it all which isn't like me! A very pleasant afternoon.
Just going to bring the last lot of washing in and iron!
The pleasure will be knowing its done:)
Have a lovely day and thanking you for the Mr Mhagster wishes x0 -
Morning
Have been missing for a couple of days but have been reading everyones pleasures. We had news that a lovely friend had died and it hit me harder than I expected. He was such a lovely man and one of life's true gentlemen.
Anyway lets see if we can find some pleasures for the last couple of days.
1. Treat myself to a jacket potato and chilli for lunch yesterday, was very yummy indeed.
2. Spent the train journey to a site visit happily reding on my kindle.
3. Inlaws being happy with their anniversary presents and was all very MSE
4. Friend having a really good week and getting a promotion at work and best of all his ex-wife has failed in her attempt for custody of the kids. They are so much better with him and settled there.
5. Enjoying a glass of wine last night. Have not really drank much for a couple of months so really enjoyed this treat but one was definetely enough.
Kittikins - Hope you get your second choice
Mhagster - Keeping fingers crossed for DH
PK - Get well now and make you take things easy.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
'4. Popped out for a loaf of bread and came back with my hair cut! ' - ...as one does, mhags:D. So liked that and news of your lunch with Mr Mhags. Will be hug-zapping during Monday appts.
re:Seats of Loo. Well, whether or not something's started, I declare this: next one will be another quirky/kitsch something.
1. Reflected on adding another quick 5 hier soir, relating to simples which followed.
2. Began when, radio on en route to Mr T, heard A Voice, thought, 'It has to be, must be...Horatio Clare'
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01qj7jj/Saving_Species_Series_3_Rarities_and_Recordings/
...and it is/was! He's another Man of Mine, heard on le jour de St Valentin, rien de mieux and a gripping tale, too.
'Available until 12:00AM Thu, 1 Jan 2099'
Hope another book may follow, akin to:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2009/mar/28/single-swallow-horatio-clare-review
-which I loved and see clearly, as does this reviewer. His 'flawed romantic..dreamer' is spot on and ticks all boxes pour moi. And, of course,[as prev bullied in this Thread]he writes superbly, with an original, lucid, gifted voice.
2. Into Mr T, late night atmosphere akin to end of year days at school. Reduced bread for birdies. They're pleased already this morning.
3. Spotted some choc.drink sachets, outside normal budget, but 16p for 4! [I'd been looking at coffee]handy for jaunts/journeys. Later went through@37p EACH! Straight to late-night CS and she couldn't do the sums, even with calculator. I'd bought 8 each of 3 varieties. It was simple sums, but she shushed me. 24x33p@DTD=24x66p:£15.84p. Très nice, esp. as shopping had been £7.74. CS was not a trout, but was shaking her head. Couldn't grasp the WottyYness of the sums.
4. Found discarded Unsalted Anchor butter voucher. It's on offer atm, so comes in at 95p. Another one tucked away.
5. Had put hwb in bed before going out. It was lovely to return to, with:o dish of warmed pears[wrinklies, zapped with h/m rosehip syrup], sliced nana, and BIG cream...Didn't care then, don't care now. It was gorgeous.
