VJsmum Glad your MiL didn't break anything. It's reached the stage that my mum is getting unsteady on her feet and broken bones have been added to my list of things to worry about!
Skint, my youngest son has just started learning too - I think he's had about three lessons - I know how you feel. DS1 is still over the moon. villagelife, I'll get some more quotes on the black box option but when I asked before it was cheaper without, just going through my insurers who don't offer a black box.
Sparrer glad your feathers are unruffling. Now where are DD and Ampersand? Please come back.
My pleasures for Sunday:
1. Went out to the shops for food and found two lovely new tree ornaments which I walked around the shop holding. We always get a couple of new ones each year but I'd already bought some for this Christmas. I managed to stand in the queue at the till waiting to pay, change my mind, put them back and get out the door quickly.:T
2. Ended up looking at onesies for me. I'm so flipping cold at the moment in the evenings, I'm wondering if a snuggly fabric onesie would help keep out the chill. Do people who are closer to 60 than 50 wear onesies? My DSs would die if they saw me in one.'When I am an old woman I shall wear onesies with a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me'
I've just found this lovely reading of the original poem http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGavgQWVOn0
3. Risotto with a little bit of smoked salmon thrown in for supper. Very tasty.
4. Having a very silly time looking online for ideas for HM presents which made me laugh a lot. I started a new thread about it.
5. Cheery phone call with my parents.
Sweet dreams
B x
Returned a bit later because I just had to add this:
6. I've discovered that our flood alert has been lifted. :T0 -
Evening
Pleasures for the last couple of days
1. Managed to get my day off work on Friday though did go in for an hour to get some reports out but will claim the time back another day.
2. The look on a couples face when I asked if they wanted a 20% off voucher is Jack Wills. They were buying for teenage children and the prices in there are . Needless to say they were quite pleased.
3. Got the bits I wanted to make up a family goody bag for our train journey on Christmas Eve. Lots of silly things to keep us occupied plus some nice treats.
4. Yesterday must have been the day for hair cuts as both myself and DD had ours cut as well.
5. After hairdressers had a free cup of tea in the Waitrose cafe.
6. Treat us to a chicken tikka wrap from a market stall for lunch. They are very yummy and always has a huge queue but also very good value.
7. Weeks shopping done using about £10 of money off vouchers:money:also got a free bag of chocolate coins.
8. As coming out of the supermarket found a copy of the new Radio Times in a trolley that someone had left behind - should this now be called an Ampersand as it is something that I know she had done regularly.
9. Very tasty and healthy dinner of lemon and herb chicken with cajun potatoes and lots of veg. They must be getting used to the veg intake as no one moaned.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Sounds as if we are all nesting ... food, wine , decs, Bop's ,OT's sweet treats !
VJsmum - at least you are shopping on a "school day" and not a weekend scrum. Good luck.... you may be some time
Hhhhmm - seems like the press are trying to turn those Australian D.J's into "victims " . The whole thing makes me so angry - the Royal Family are strictly off limits as far as "pranks" are concerned - look at the carnage obtaining "cheap laughs" has caused . Also anyone heard of that thing called the Human Rights Act - Article 8 ??..... 'nuff said ..scuttles off to work , exit followed by a bear ...;):AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Don't you mean exeunt??:DI wanna be in the room where it happens0

Hello hello. Tis Monday evening been a nice enough day stayed dry but not too hot.
1. Well drove to work with my walking out speech all planned in my head! ...turned out I didn't need it! Realized I was just being a bit dramatic, he was being a bit moody and stressy and I made a few referrals to his nonsensical behavior and things were okay. A rather contrary young man, who seems to forget things we have already discussed and agreed on! Anyway, we all finish up next Friday for 3 weeks break and I think we all need our holidays! I Am going to look for a new job when I come back my holidays though as I could get paid more elsewhere. As we are going to have to fund DS going to university we need more money coming in than we have at the moment!
2.after all that the day went by reasonably quickly and we got out of work earlier than last week! Nice drive home.
3. Nice hugs from DD2 .
4. Well it was supposed to be left over lasagne for tea.....however, some people had seconds last night and DD1 had a portion for her lunch...leaving one portion which DS had. I had toast and pât! which was rather nice.
With a wee mince pie to follow for pud!
5.finished a book which was a bit hard going ....a bit of a whodunit which isn't my usual choice of reading but it was one of the pile of books I bought from library a few weeks ago. It was the old retired school
Think that's me....have a lovely day..I can now say I'm coming home next week0 -

Chicken I'm right there with you, disgusted at the liberties the media take with innocent lives, and get away with. The victims here were the nurses who were on the receiving end of the call and our Royal Family. I can only hope and pray that the one on tape is getting every support to prevent another tragedy. (Which I'm sure she is).
Mhags good for you not taking any nonsense from the young whippersnapper who tries to rise above his station, you tell him girl
One to start the day - I slept for 9 hours
Have a good day, going to finish putting the deckies up and be back later0 -
Well!!!
1) Smaller son's draft Statement of Special Needs is here. The one his silly previous head teacher said he would "never get".
2) He is entitled to (drum roll....) 25 hours of 1 to 1 help each week plus 5 hours of supervision at lunchtimes. And the document is pages and pages long describing how a school has to meet his needs.
3) There is nothing in there that I disagree with so I won't have to appeal it.
4) His exclusion is now cancelled as his previous school can just say they couldn't meet his needs without a 1 to 1 working with him.
5) Next week I won't have to go to the appeal meeting for his exclusion.
6) All I need to do now is choose him a new school!!0 -
Well Done Frith re the statement etc. Too many teachers are little Hitlers. Hope you can let this person in particular and the school in general know about the statement just to rub their nose in it . Good for you.
