Chicken - your story re the service reminds me of a contretemps my BIL once had with a waitress over the fact he wanted cold milk for his coffee and not the hot milk she brought him, her eventual parting shot was "well you won't die" and :rotfl:at the same time.
Skint - hope you feel better today
Broomstick - well done your DS on saving for the car - and the insurance. Is he having a black box? that might make you feel better.
Yesterdays
1. Being able to put on my extremely tight trousers without them looking obscene - which they did last time i put them on
2. Leaving the house whilst it was still pitch black, with the wind whistling. I felt like I was doing a moonlight flit (tho it was 6.45:D) and walking home again from the station last night and seeing all the christmas lights. I love walking in the dark
3. seeing dad looking so well - long may it continue. And meeting his carer, who has got the measure of him and seeing how well they get on.
4. DD singing her head off - she's better :T
5. MIL remarking how clean and tidy the house is. Not sure whether I should be pleased or offended that she said "I thought you'd got a cleaner":rotfl:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Just popping in before the big game.
Happy birthday Ms Moneyraver.
Chas not too good, still waiting for his wife to call. Bu99er. Thank goodness we do not allow assisted killing in this country.
Rite, hugs to all.
Off to the Thames, Henley, and the rugby. Packed, armed. Feel that it will be close and cold.0 -
VickyA - I am very envious of your school's visit from Claire Lomas. After you first posted, I had a good read of her website to see if she was coming anywhere near us, but we're too far south. What an amazing, inspiring woman, and I bet the children will never forget her visit.
She really was incredible and a real inspiration to both children and adults. I have registered an interest to run the Royal Parks half marathon for Spinal Research having met her... Good afternoon all!
Skintos - I hope that you feel better soon .
VJsmum- Your BIL's experience sounds akin to mine , how rude ! I did make a formal complaint-lets see what they "hit me " back with !!
5 for today
1. Hair cut at 8.30am - a nice short choppy bob . This particular hairdresser is the only person I let near my scar with a comb and scissors -the scar is very raised and it starts above the occipital bone and goes down the back of my neck to my bra line - I would need to be peeled off of the ceiling if it got accidentally combed !
2. Reverbed 1p outside of the Spanish bank. I must be getting cranky as bank Teller was trying to flog me one of their accounts . I said no thanks and she went on and on and bliddy on about where I should be putting MY money - this particular account of course. Told her I am not putting all of my eggs in one Spanish basket - she still went on and on ! I am feeling a bit "punchy " at the moment -I am feeling it building up , not sure why really?:o
3. Got a very "petite" Xmas tree with roots that I will try not to kill . It leans to the left (like me) and I felt kind of sorry for it, so I bought it . I have been trying to balance it out by putting decorations on it to emphasise its "good "side :rotfl:I like quirky things.
4. Beef bourginon (sp) in slow cooker smells lovely.Made some coconut buns as I had to use two eggs that broke in OH's hand as the shells were soft .
5.Watching Lady Killers for the millionth time. Herbert Lomm was Kinda sexy looking when he was young - not in the Clueso films .
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Evening all.
1) Woke up early this morning with a throat that felt like I'd swallowed broken glass and a sudden brainwave on what to get my GM for Christmas (I don't think the two are connected...) so I let the cat out and went back to bed.
2) Bacon sarnie for brunch when I finally got up.
3) Making a fuss of a lovely ginger-and-white cat who seemed to be trying for a world record for the longest ever meow (meee - oooo - oooo - oooo - ooow!).
4) Finally finished the picture round of the office Christmas quiz. I want to finish the rest of it tomorrow, so I just hope some inspiration comes to me overnight!
5) Steak and ale stew for dinner - it's simmering away in the oven as I type, and smells wonderful.
Get well soon, Skint! Everyone else - have a good evening.Back after a very long break!0 -

Hello again. OT and Chicken, I must admit I was a bit surprised at the Rummy plans too. However, at the moment it's a plan. I got the Angrove horses in the limelight in a rather unusual way this morning. His owner has been taking some flak about Rummy on an equine forum - completely unjustified - so I've been on the lookout for some chances to mention him positively.
All the Angrove horses up to Fatrascal were named after puddings. In today's Grauniad Emma Kennedy (one of my favourite writers!)
reviewed The Pudding Club
Well, after several bursts of schoolboy humour comments on Emma's Twitter about a certain spotted pudding, I had to get a mention for the Angrove stallion....
His owners are really chuffed.
So, pleasures. As well as the above:
1. Son's Chrimbo present has arrived. It was what he asked for.
2. Coffee and cake with buddy. We used a pleasant, fully accessible "diner" in the town centre and got generous portions at a special afternoon price. I had to miss last week's meeting and this was good. Though it was a shock to try and walk a hundred yards with my stick. I really struggled. I'm so used to the trike. Treats like the cake will have to be a once a week thing - I have to keep the weight loss up
3. Reverbed 5p outside Aldi. Well, everyone else is doing it, miss...
4. Met an old friend I'd lost touch with outside Mr T's - we did two courses together some years ago. Since then she has lost her husband and her health has not been good. This was the first chance I had had to speak to her since his funeral some time ago.
5. Got back from coffee and cake in time for the racing. Then I watched the 14 year old Hello Bud win the Becher Chase at Aintree, leading virtually all the way, with 20 year old Sam Twiston Davies on board.
Stories like this as so good for racing - especially after what happened in the National this year. They have modified the Aintree fences and with the heavy going this meant that horses were a lot safer. You could hear the sighs of relief in the commentators' voices.
This was followed by the awesome young chaser Sprinter Sacre at Sandown. Such an exciting prospect! Even if I'm not exactly warm towards his trainer.
Sorry for boring most of you with most of that!Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Wow the first day today we haven’t had to rush about nice to touch ground again
We went out to lidls and stocked up on “good” stuff like choccy ginger and cranberry crisps, a version of baileys, mince pies and other treats.
Stopped in at Halfords and bought a new aerial as ours broke.
Easy chicken and chips and salad.
Popping out for to see if there might be RTCs tonight.
We topped and tailed the house its all clean, the bedding is all clean and fresh, nice for 5mins or so0 -
Evening all.
5 Did rugby. Bu99er. Just squeezed out in very tight game. Great to do.
4 Bodged pizza for supper. Shop bought, then flavoured up.
