Frith :j:j:j
ampersand did you try the 'copy/paste' method? That should work, otherwise it sounds like you have a glitch on the comp?
OT well done on the free turkey! And on finishing the shopping, I'm still floundering about wondering what to get people
Chicken the mind boggles - what exactly do they want you to do in your pod with a prit stick?!
Skint your priority is getting yourself better, not thinking about your colleagues. Hope you get well now
PK I echo OT's thoughts, the break will be so good for you and it's not as if you're going so far that you couldn't get back if you needed to.
CCP pleased you found your earring, at least it couldn't fall any further. Congrats on the Quorn refund, if rather belated. I must try it one day, Quorn that is, not the refund. Although....
Tealady your parents will love a surprise visit, it'll be a very special Christmas present. There's nothing as special as a visit from your children
Kittikins hope little Miss Kittikins gets well now, poor thing
1. Contents insurance, due in three weeks time. Got a quote from the current company, £20 more than last year even though I'd not made any claims. Did a search on line and got a like for like at £8 less than last year with a different company. Phoned my company to cancel, told them why, they asked what I'd be quoted and they matched it! £28 less than this year's quote, how crazy is that?!
2. Checked the Health Lottery ticket and I've won £20
3. Postie brought me a free little tube of foundation. I don't wear it but it's a moisturiser as well so I'll give it a go. Hope it doesn't make me look orange!
4. nsd/npd, not had too many of those of late so my purse and petrol have had a rest
5. Made a bolognese with Mr M's half price steak mince, absolutely no fat in it at all and tasted yummy. Have frozen enough for another three meals
Sleep tight0 -
:T Frith - great news about your son.
Ampersand, maybe you have tried this already but just in case you haven't, have a go at writing your post in a word document (or whatever it is you have on your machine), saving it, then copy and pasting it very quickly in a matter of seconds into the 'reply to thread' box on MSE? That's what I ended up doing when MSE was playing up with my posts.
(((Hugs))) PK, hope Tuesday brings better news.
Kittikins, that's lovely about your new job.
My five pleasures for Monday:
1. While I was waiting for the DSs to finish coaching late afternoon, I went for a good walk just to get a bit of exercise - how good was that?
2. I'd brought a hottie with me (just in case I had to have a long wait in the car) and I'd left it on the driver's seat. When I returned from my walk all cold, moved it out the way and sat down, the warmth was fabulous! :rotfl:
3. The DSs were in very good moods on the way home and were trying to remember songs they used to sing in the car when they were younger. This meant a lot of Flanders and Swann which was good fun.
4. Have discovered an inspirational telly programme on 'catch up' that has (very happy) footage about a couple of my friends from the time DS2 was born. I'd lost contact with them and this was such a lovely and unexpected surprise. Made my day.
5. Not MSE but treated myself to a can of sparkling elderflower. (Maybe it could count as OS because of the elderflower content!)
Sweet dreams
B x
Aaagh Sparrer - great minds about the copy and paste - we cross posted!0 -
Sparrer - well done on your windfall:j great time of year to get it !
OT- you have some interesting shops near you then - sorry to hear that the free turkey one is for sale .
PK- I get a lot of head pain , not forehead/temples but sort of on the ridges on my skull - OH rubs it hard (my skull that is !!!) and I fall asleep within a minute or two every time - head pain goes when he does this. Perhaps your OH can do yours !
Kittikins - glad to hear that you had a lovely time helping out at your new job. ((hugs)) to your DD.
Skintos - get well now !
keep warm all- OH defrosting the OGV as I type !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
a hot day, 30o.
DD2 doing the dishwasher.....as DS is now working full time she has inherited his chores! Such a nice mummy!
1. Saw an emu as I drove to work.
2. Feel a bit bad ( just a smidgeon!) but my manager had to go home sick today so atmosphere was a lot more relaxed! Had a good chat with with my other nice colleague as we closed up tonight. Felt better for getting stuff off my chest.
3. Nice phone call from friend in Sydney. She told me there is a marks and Spencer's in Singapore....... That's not too far to go is it?
4. Glad my car uses petrol. There is a diesel shortage in Melbourne. My OH had to drive round 7 stations on Sunday before he found one with any. Even worse now. When I went in to pay for petrol tonight, the kind man gave me the address of a station that had had a diesel delivery.
5. Yummy chocolate cheesecake for my tea....straight to the pudding! Love chocolate, love cheesecake.....perfect combination!
6. OH had a hospital check up and got on okay. He is doing very well, still not 100% but a lot better than he was even a month ago. I look back in amazement at what we / he has been through this year and am thankful for how well he is doing.
Have a lovely day!0 -
Oops forgot to post yesterday and in a rush so i'll read through later.
My five for yesterday;
1. Made a big batch of soup, it might not actually be a pleasure yet as I haven't tasted it and it looks a bit like one of those 'bug smoothies' they serve up in the jungle
2. Got all crafty and destroyed a value Xmas tree! We don't have space for a tree this year so I cut the branches off the old one and made a wreath, garlands for mantel and mirrors and I'm part way through a bauble display and candle plate all using up stuff I had laying around. It all looks so expensive and the tree only cost about a fiver several years ago.
3. Sat having a cuppa by the sparkly Christmas lights.
4. Got a futon for the new games room for FREE. Being delivered on Wednesday.
5. Was talking with a friend and she was commenting on how much food she throws out (she has also never bought garlic  or cooked from scratch). Made me feel really proud of myself for being OS, nothing gets thrown away and we eat good, wholesome food every day. A massive achievement for anyone, let alone someone like me who because of various disabilities/mental health problems can't tell my head from my ar*e most days :rotfl:Comper, Blogger & OS-erCompetition prizes: £6/£20150 -
Looks like I have sussed the mobile Internet wifi on the iPad,mso I can keep up when working over. No hiding pace now.0

5. all set fair on this gorgeous winters day. Horses will come in around 4pm.
another
6. Bacon and eggs for tea later.0 -
Chicken - Shakespeare wrote "exeunt pursued by a bear" (Winters tale). Why didn't he just write exit??
Miss moneysave - mmmm slug smoothie
Mhagster - glad OH is getting better, 30 degrees to 0 degrees soon. Wrap up well
Hope all poorlies and poorly children get well soon.
Mine for yesterday
1. Christmas shopping - thanks to the huge wall of vouchers in sainsbugs managed to cross a few names off my list
2. Lunch with friend and a catch up
3. Wrote the dreaded christmas cards - why don't men ever do that?
4. The WH smiff vouchers I found gave me £13 off my purchases there. THat's gone into the "big holiday" fund
5. Cashed in my left over Korean won (11, 000 of them, gave me about £7.50:rotfl:) and US dollars. SO that has also gone into the "big holiday" fund. At the moment "big holiday" is to New Zealand in 2 years time, but it could change. Korean pay has made us a good start but any "reverbed" money, Quidco, ebay and unexpected windfalls are all going into that fund.
Today's (so far)
1. More christmas shopping first thing - and a freebie chocolate in "Hotel Chocolat"
2. Walking through newly opened city park to work - knocks 5 mins off the walk to the station and is a lot more pleasant.
latersI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Pleasures for today so far.
1) Got smaller son to the bus without an accident... 10 miles along really major roads. It was -5 and nothing had been gritted - AGAIN!
2) Then dropped bigger son off at school without sliding into anything.
3) Had hair cut at college (£4).
4) Went to see my solicitor and she will draft a firm letter.
5) Smaller son's ed psych will see him at school tomorrow and have a chat with his teacher which will be useful and save me a 60 mile round trip to pick him up at lunchtime.
6) Made a large apple and mincemeat tart.
7) Stove going nicely - it's freezing outside.
8) Looking forward to an early night, hot bath and watching Holby City.
9) Oh yes, left some pastry so boys can make some little mince tarts.0 -
Good evening all !
VJsmum- do you know I swore it was "exit followed by a bear " it must be because I had one of the course text books which "explains" it all in English underneath !! "A" level English was a mighty long time ago for me
Love the "big holiday fund" plan - your post is "well thrifty" today:rotfl:must be catching !
missmoneysave - nice post x
5 for today
1. Gosh - tedious 14 page report almost finished - the recipient won't like it , when I send it in its draft format tomorrow !
2. The Xmas pod gang at work had sellotaped a cracker (one you pull, not eat with cheese) on top of my monitor - peed me off no end as I couldn't see my "tool bar" whilst typing- ripped it off swiftly though...
3. Watched Inside Clarid*es last night and asked OH is he would like to stay there for his 50th in 3 years time ( the cheapest suite that is ) caught him looking up the details this morning so now have to save for "Big Hotel Fund " VJsmum
4. Prawn curry for tea.
5 OH has started decorating the dining room post leak !
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0
