Looks like I'm the only Halloween liker on here! It was a big thing when I was wee and also where we lived back home. The shops do sell stuff here but doesn't seem to be as big as back home.
Anyway....i will move on with Tuesday pleasures( though when I woke I thought it was Wednesday )
1. Much cooler but stayed dry enough to dry washing.
2. My lovely OH has washed my car, absolutely covered in possum poo( runny:( ) and possum wee....not nice.
3.Work was okay, busy ,busy day.
4.received a nice letter from my father in law.
5.about to watch Downton.....DD1 left me a note and a USB stick.....apparently I'll need tissues!
Have a lovely day:)0 -
We do the pumpkin out, come and get sweeties, no pumpkin, please stay away in our village. I'm not a fan, but most of the village is and people really go to town with their costumes. My church organise a fabulous BRIGHT childrens party to celebrate good things rather than scary things, but DD is going to be away at my parents, so I'll be hunkered down in my half-plastered house, avoiding it all......0

PK, fingers crossed for the job!
CCP, a police helicopter often comes over us too, blooming annoying isn't it! Well the receptionist informed me yesterday afternoon that I probably have PCOS. I've booked an appointment for today. I think it's disgusting that they think it's ok for the receptionist to inform me about my health! Surely they should just be able to say either, yes the results are fine, or the doctor would like to see you to discuss the results?!
Anyway, one more pleasure for yesterday was that I managed to do my 1,000 words. Was a struggle as I was a bit upset last night about the above. Really pleased I managed it.
VJ, your 'wally trolley' incident has made me laugh! :rotfl: Oh dear!0 -
Morning
Pleasures for yesterday,
1. Finished off an indulgent weekend by taking a friend out for lunch to our favourite noodle bar where we had yummy wraps and dumplings. Did have a voucher for a free wrap though so quite cheap.
2. Found a small piece of very ropey looking beef in the fredzer so put it in the slow cooked with some five spice, soy sauce and beef stock. Added noodles this morning to make it a beef noodle soup for DD to take for lunch and some left for OH when he gets in from work tired and hungry.
3. Yummy chicken curry & rice using a jar of curry paste I had bought from AF. DD and OH liked this one much more than the red thai curry that I used last time, fussy lot that they are.
4. OH suggesting that we suprise my parents at christmas. They have booked to go out for christmas lunch so need to see if I can change there booking to include us and find accomodation for christmas eve. Hopefully will manage to do this.
5. Finished yet another baby blanket yesterday and this one has come out much nicer than I expected. I was playing with colours and wasn't sure what it would look like but quite pleased with the results. All my friends seem to be having babies at the moment.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Rite that is it then!!
1 Had soak with bubbles, good old squirt as well, got ducks out and splattered the lot. Please do not tell Ms Sonny cos it is her bubbles, anbd I do use ...

Jenny is about ready for them and the other ills around us :heartpuls
3 Ms Sonny, the new Dudbridge Donkey, search google!, dropped her treader this morning. Not hurt but her pride is a little down. IU did not try and laugh, but sometimes you hust cannot help yourself. She will pick it up!
4 Gosh, I nearly rote No5 ear instead. Now should I watch the England tonite! Probably so, but I remember Mummy TILAMS 39 seasons ago and the coffee table, etc. Not happy bunny Mother TILAMS that evening. Still poor gal, being alone since December 1985.
5 Last year on the Dart Bored it was Bulls Eye. Next year will be tonites B&B. THis year it is ?????? Glass of Vertuoso Wobbleade to the winner.

5.all excited about the ex-caged hens arriving tomorrow.0 -
1 .. beautiful windy but sunny day
2... made a huge saucepan of beef stew with all my oldish veggies.
3... daughter and grand daughter stopped by unexpectadly ,smelled my stew cooking, so stayed for lunch.
Grand daughter actually had seconds on the stew, a teenager who actually eats veg,..........................................wow.
4.Went to Lidls for a little shop, nice to blow the cobwebs away.
5 Older son popped in to get some parts to do OH ,s car ,hes a mechanic, usually not got any time. but he did today.Earnings £245 in 2014:T thanks to swagbucks0 -
1. '...five old women, faces wrecked by a lifetime of rough occupation.'
Straight away, a 1st OS pleasure, just heard on R4extra: 'Fame is the Spur'. It's superb and feels too appropriate for much of what we, and the current young work seekers/needers, are being driven into.
2. A beautiful weekend of sun. Although freezing early on and chill wind was omnipresent, it's still better with le soleil.
3. 2 good John Lewis lampshades, new, for £1@ first carboot. Now up to 4/15 for France.
4. 2nd carboot - hoped to find M. who runs it and DID. He remains mellifluous of voice, warm, empathetic SO, Spitalfields confirmed for Thursday[another of his entreprises.] He runs one every day -Covent Gdn today, Stratford-on-Avon demain - don't know the others. Now begins my panicky hopelessness of what to take/how much/getting it ALL wrong/etc.etc. - just hoping No Thefts/Breakages PLEASE, enough earnt to get back here, cover stand fee and hopefully contribute to NZ shipping, to be collected in a fortnight or so. I am just so hopeless.
5. Gary McKinnon is not being deported. I'm not sure how/if that squares with my loathing Assange and all he has done, but I'm comfy with it. The latter just doesn't ring true with me; the former does. Same with the other squirmworm, now defunct,
whose JS initials are enough to turn my stomach and always were. Can't now, never could even then, look at him - made my flesh creep.
6. Hearing Julia Gillard's correctly documented, deserved filleting of the Leader of the Opposition, both as news and subsequently in the New Quiz and News Quiz Extra and reading in full in beloved Grauniad. Reader, I married one...once upon a time...an Australian male, that was.
7. Mel G. is just introducing[more 4extra]punishment for failing mediaeval bakers...reminding me we have the grande finale de GBBO ce soir. Pleasure starts now, in anticipation.
8. I HIT THE GYM! - brisk walk in icy, rainy, blowy dark in time for 0645 ce matin was not showing nobility of intent, mere grim scurry because it was indeed icy, rainy, blowy dark. Back by 0815h, so not bad. Did a mile on treadmill before warm-down. Still LOATHE cross-trainer, but did it. New prog has 10 components and I bury the hideous c-t straight after warm-up. 5 minutes was more than enough although 2.5 was set to begin. Official weight is horrific and I'll state it in spur-on shame: 79.1kg. >20 kilos must go.
9. Complimented on earrings in Waitrose on Saturday. When I replied 'Thankyou! I like them, too' she said how much my straightforward answer, rather than coy denial, pleased her. Over half an hour later...anyway, hoping very much this sparky, attractive, interesting lady gardener is now in the fold of mse. Welcome, B, if you read this:-)
10. Thanks for b'day gift included invitation to dine and more mahjongg. YES PLEASE!
11. Washing blowing and billowing under full sail.
12. Finally succeeded with call to arrange sth and em'd someone to say it will begin Saturday. Little steps, long haul.
13. Mint jelly is scrumptious and feels good-girlish, given that it replaced butter on roast beef[reduced to 12p/500gms]sandwich@lunch. I know part of the getting fit thing will be to ensure I eat à midi.
14. Appreciating the difference between Mr T and Waitrose in matter of reductions/offers. Mr T's tills don't confer kick-in offers on reduced goods. Waitrose's do, meaning sugar snap peas@99p/3 for £2.50, reduced to 19p per bag, still took away the 47p per 3, meaning 6pkts were 20p-neat fit in freezer. Had lots similar and the free almond milk. Timely and so appreciated.
15. Spectacular rainbow late yesterday. Pics duly taken.
Must now go out in biting cold, though sunny still and try to move stuff with eye on Thursday and other manoeuvres.
I'll do catch-up read later. Hugs, comforts, congratulations, kettles on and snugness to everyone dropping in here in the meantime.

Evening, popping on quickly to add my pleasures for today:
1. Managed another Pilates (DVD) session so feeling good about myself atm.
2. Peace and quiet.
3. October has a lot of work colleagues' birthdays, so we've had cakes pretty much every day so far, and more to come later this week.
4. Still sticking fairly well to the mealplan.
5. The possibility we're going to go to a Fireworks' Display this year.
((hugs)) to those in need. Have a lovely evening, evryone!

Pleasures for today so far (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep!
2) Bigger son off to school happily. Smaller son back tomorrow (hoorah!)
3) Surveyor man came out to assess how the new window frames will fit. I asked him about all the weird bits of wood trim around the kitchen window (it looks like there are about 3 old frames) and he said it is the remains of a sash window. It is all full of woodworm, like the window frame itself (not sash) so the whole lot will have to come out.
4) Went to Sainsburys and got a sandwich and ate it by the canal with smaller son. Very cold wind, though.
5) Popped down to mum and dad's.
6) Made 2 dinner's worth of pasta meat sauce for the freezer.
7) Looking forward to Holby City later.0
