Get well soon, CCP
Sonny - I've never approved of halloween either. Much to my children's disgust
Lily - that was a happy post.
Chicken - Gangnam is where my hotel was in Seoul, so I have been telling everyone that if anyone has Gangnam style it's me!
:rotfl:
PK - is that why you're called PURPLE kitten ?
Couldn't watch the live space jump - too scared
For today
1. DIdn't particularly have a hangover - though I probably deserved one
2. Got tons done - including the office of doom. Looks much better. Need to persuade OH to get some new shelving. Listened to a Doris Lessing serialisation on R4 extra on i player.
3. Rehung the radiators - and they don't leak :T
4. Watching DS play footie in the sunshine. They drew 1-1, but this is a team who, last year, were losing 7 or 8 nil
5. Downton and knitting later.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
lily fantastic. November is nanowrimo. Next year we've got the ref (research excellence framework) so i think i'll follow your good idea and get 1000 words (but academic) down each day.
1) glorious lie-in snuggled up to OH who got in later than me (should that be I?) i am still smiling from the opera, whereas she had a jolly good time in a pub listening to a live band. Each to her own
2) then we watched HIGNFY still in bed with the rain pounding down and bacon sarnies for brekkie
3) then we drove down to edinburgh to see DD2 who is stressing a wee bit about essays
4) also met up with DD1 who is stressing about being in 4th year (scotland does 4 years honours) but was lovely to see them both
5) now we're home safe and sound. Reverbed 9p in edinburgh, sausage stew for supper, caught up on all your joys, OH catching up on episode 1 of Merlin then off to beddie byes to watch episode 2.
Havent decided whether to be in for trick or treat as this is our first child-free year fora long long time. The etiquette round here is if there's a pumpkin the house is up for it (though here there's no tricks, instead they have to sing a song or tell a joke then get their treat). No pumpkin, no knocking. Seems very civilised to me.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

That was the first one I had experienced Sparrer despite my parents being down here for years, definitely won't be the last though.
Mine for today
1 - My lovely daddy took me out for breakfast
2 - Went up to the cliff top this morning to watch the sun over the sea.
3 - Reading In Search of Scotland
4 - Watching the GP. Poor Button
5 - Managing to put my new bed together by myself woo. Off to get in it now!0 -
1) Lovely sunny day so DH and I went for a walk.
2) Got one load of washing line-dried. Doesn't seem as if we will be able to do this much longer.
3) Risotto for tea, which uses up chicken stock, and I found some pancakes in the fridge for afters which we ate with cherry pie filling. Mmm.
4) Technology. Apparently, I have a compass on my phone. How cool is that?
5) Did some patchwork today, which I haven't looked at in ages, and found it very soothing. Apart from the initial, inspiring three fat quarters, the whole thing is made from scraps and old shirts in green, cream, yellow and gold. I may get it finished next year.0 -
CCP what a coincidence you mentioned the word pilgrim, some of my forefathers were pilgrims in the Mayflower flotilla. Get better now
TILAMS agreed, Halloween is horrible now. At one time is was a bit of fun but these past few years it has become not very nice. Hope all goes well on Wednesday
Vicky I didn't know about the parachute nutter, would have loved to see it. Don't think it will go on my bucket list though, I get dizzy standing on a high kerb :rotfl:
Frith don't let the ex have rent free space in your head, there are much nicer thoughts for you to have
1. No alarm clock this morning
2. Bought a new pair of winter-weight trousers for £4 and two tops for £3 each on a sale rail
3. Meeting with friends at lunchtime. One brought some hm panini's and shared them among us. I'd only just finished the last ones she gave me, now I have to eat these. Not good for doing up the new trousers
4. Spent the afternoon with a new acquaintance sitting in the window seat of a coffee shop with the sun pouring in. We were supposed to be talking business but ended up talking everything but. Hopefully we'll become good friends as time goes by
5. Had salad with a ys mackerel from the freezer for dinner, the cats and I thoroughly enjoyed it
Sweet dreams0 -
Good morning all !
Sparrer- sorry I forgot to reply . Jackdaws still a plenty, they are just a bit smarter now and avoid the grey hen !
VJsmum - it had to be you with Gangnam style - I could see you riding your virtual pony over the pedestrian crossing ! The video is soo funny - it reminds me of my late father who would bring me in a cup of tea in bed in the morning and do an Egyptian sand dance on his way out of the room :rotfl:
Dundee - fancy adding that Skydive to your 50 list ??;) 50 shades of green more like !!
CCP - get well now !
Have a good day all:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Morning all, morning Chicken x
DundeeDoll there is no singing or telling a joke round here for their treat on halloween ... just big gangs of lads with only 1 person wearning a cheap mask and all expecting a treat.and then they swap who is wearing the mask and knock again...
I put a pumpkin in the window from 5pm - 6pm for the little ones on my street who come early with their parents, then I put out all the lights shut all the internal doors and go and sit in my back kitchen for the evening (hiding)
Pleasures for sunday
1. lovely sleep. Woke around 7am, dozed back off and woke around 10am
2. DS (17yo) got phone call at short notice to go and work in the chippy on the seafront.. always a pleasure when he earns his own money rather than spending mine, just wish it was more regular work
3. Drove DS to work as was too late for him to ride his bike or get the bus. Sun out and looks glorious along the sea front
4. Got loads of ironing done, all of DS clothes now ironed ready for him to pack for S Africa

I miss Hallowe'en:( we will have a hallowe'en tea, we have decided and DD1 is going to invite some friends round after school. DD2 is going to a party. DS is not interested. My dad died 20 years ago at Halloween and once the kids came along we always had a party. Maybe in Scotland it is less malevolent and more good natured? In our street the kids would safely go from house to house, sing/ joke their party piece and get a treat. Orange or apple , monkey nuts and some sweets. Maybe some home made tablet and usually dooking for apples.
We had just arrived here 2 years ago for our first Australian Halloween , I was trying to make cupcakes and it was 32 o and my icing just drooped! We headed to the beach and made pumpkin sand castles!
It is just not the same when it's daylight at tea time!
anyway Monday pleasures :
1. Just in from dinner at local Thai restaurant, lovely as usual, good laugh and chat with the kids. Stuffed aNd brought a doggy bag home.
2. Work was okay and got paid so that was a bonus
3. OH has cleared out his big and baggy clothes so I took them over to charity shop. Not that he was particularly huge but he has lost so much weight and we don't think he'll put that much back on ....ever!
4. We are watching Australian x factor and being very critical of the acts.....as if we could do better! 80's night!
5.stunning sunset tonight. Was supposed to be 27o today but was oddly very windy and cool until about 4pm when it warmed up. back to cool rest of week.
Have a lovely day whatever you're up to. PK good luck with interview, hope it goes well.0 -
Here are mine for Sunday :-
1, Moved the rabbit hutch from top of garden, down to patio, so they are drying, more sheltered and easier to feed/play with during the winter colder months.
2, Went to watch my DS3 play football, and although they lost 3-2, the team played well, and just being out in a greenfield space standing the the glorious October sunshine was a real tonic.
3, Cooked a super Toad in the Hole when I got home for DH and DS3 using fresh vegetables. (They were the only ones home for dinner today)
4, emptied washing out of airing cupboard and managed to pair up 16 pairs of socks!!!Oh the joys, so satisfying. I can't tell you how elated this made me feel, lol .
5, Being taken out for dinner by my Mum and her Partner to a vegetarian Indian Restaurant for my Birthday treat!keep smiling,

Morning all. Seems we have the Best China out now! Welcome Newbies and hugs to those in need. Jenny gis a usual :heartpuls
Too late to change the thirst :beer::beer::beer: free!
1 Sit down job, and iPad. (Otherwise I would had bins stood up!)
2 Shave and wet brush, proper blades and woah, no cuts or ruts (Stood up for this one!)
3 Showered, sponged and spirited up. All fresh now.
4 Still standing on the landing. Looking out on sun, blueness and wet yard. How does that 'appen. No frost yet, but seems we have had twenty odd years since some wind did not come into TILAMSHIRE! Since then we had warnings abit this and that, but the roof of Sonny House has remained, for the most part on, apart from December 1998, when Ms Sonny saids the TV no work! Have not missed it since, but chimney was rebuilt and roof refitted, well what was left of it anyway.
5 Do you just sit there, not caring while those around got there full from the emporiums, sneeringly snotting thinking that their evilness is good? Put oil into that lamp, and shine it bright. Do not hide it, it is a festival of good, a light for a newness to come.
BOYCOTT THOSE SHOPS THAT SELL EVIL. THEIR CHEAP MASKS HIDE THEIR CHARADE OF PROFITEERING FROM GREED AND HURT.
Sorry, but have to be personal about this!I hvae nt snept th lst fw mntes writg ths post fr yu t cme alng hre nd agre wth m!
Cheers! :beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:0
