Weekend Pleasures:
1.Nice chats on phone to friends.
2.Saturday scone & mooch through the newspapaer & supplements.
3.Inexpensive shop! (made up for last weeks expensive one!)
4.Sunny day today (poured yesterday) , we had a $15 voucher for a garden centre that expires at end of month. We bought some veggie plants and had to add $13 to voucher. Then we went to a b and q type store and bought a compost bin, we were offered 2 free packets of seeds, so took tomato and lettuce and 2 free pairs of gardening gloves. So that was all very friendly!
5.Had a nice picnic type lunch....in the dining room, nice eggy sandwiches!
6.Then everyone went out in the garden. Veggies all in and seeds planted. Grass cut & strimmed, weeds weeded....well some of them ! Far too bloomin' many of them. Photographs taken of beautiful flowers.
7.Bought a phone top up, came home and didn't have it, so phoned store and it had been handed in. So that was a relief and a quick drive back to store to collect.
8.Nice ice-cream lolly...well it was hot!
9.Finished a lovely ,well written book which I have really enjoyed and then started another one but dozed off!
That's plenty!
Enjoy your day, I'm off to bed...Monday beckons0 -
Morning all, welcome newbies
giddynici you've just brought back some lovely memories of when I lived in L'ton. We went to as many Sussex bonfire parades as we could every year, when it was our town's turn we took one or two of our more able bodied residents along to enjoy it as well. Some had lived in the town for most/all of their lives and told us of many local traditions which we followed up on for them.
TILAMS not getting old at all, in my 30's I had 20% hearing after an accident and wore two. Luckily my ex's company had private health ins and paid for me to have rather luxurious hospital stays to get it corrected. The funniest part was when the girls were squabbling upstairs, didn't realise I could now hear them and I called up to tell then to play nicely. Apart from the thud as jaws hit the floor the silence was deafening :rotfl:
It's a beautiful day, the sun is shining, I feel good and no-one's gonna stop me now (with thanks to Queen)0 -
Oooh Sparra, Silence is Golden! Just that Ms Sonny thinks I already has selective hearing!!!
On a side, just got memo from local fuzz about the evil night. This message comes to you from the GloucestershireConstabulary. Our telephone number for non-emergencies is 101 and calls cost15p each. Visit the Constabulary website at www.gloucestershire.police.uk This is a message from the Stroud Local Policing Team.
Gloucestershire Constabulary wants to ensure Halloween issafe and enjoyable for everyone who wants to participate in the celebrations -and for those who don?t. Halloween typically sees a rise in crime as offendersuse trick-or-treating as an excuse to intimidate residents and commit acts ofanti-social behaviour and criminal damage.
To reduce this behaviour Gloucestershire Constabularytake a range of measures on the run up to, and the night of, Wednesday October31. This includes working with local shops and advising them on the sale ofeggs and flour to young people and increasing foot and vehicle patrols in thelocal area.
Police have also produced copies of a poster thathomeowners can place in their window to tell trick-or-treaters not to call. Ifyou would like a poster please advise your neighbourhood watch co-ordinator whocan pass your details on to your local Police Community support officer.

11. Doing these pleasures early as I plan on getting off the laptop and sorting out my pigsty of a house, putting a week's worth of smart clothes together ready for my volunteering at another school tomorrow, and doing dinner etc for my chums, followed by........watching something nice and trashy on iplayerToodlepip!
