Evening all and welcome to the newbies

    1. Good workout, weights etc all increased again so have caught up with the couple of days I missed recently
    2. The college salon invited me and a friend to a buffet evening and intro of a very well know hair product, plus goodie bag and samples. Not til November but will be an evening out, free supper and a bonus of some freebies ;)
    3. Completed another survey, so £4 in my paypal account. Every little helps
    4. Washing dried on the line, ironing done
    5. Exchanged mails with some residents in the little Mass. township that shares my surname - our forefathers settled there in the 17th century. They occasionally send me snippets of info they think I may be interested in, this time they attached some photos of the old lumber mill to add to our family tree folders. All very interesting to us and no doubt all very dull to you for which I apologise, family trees are a bit like looking at other peoples photographs, they can be very tedious :D

    Sleep well :)

Sparrer - I keep meaning to add a bit to our family tree. Mum's friend this morning said there was a plaque in a church outside St David's where the vicar had our surname (reasonably unusual) and had been imprisoned for being on the side of the king during the Civil War.

My Great Grandma was the youngest of 17 and her dad was one of 26 so it all got quite hard work!
  • Hey Everyone,

So I kind of disappeared again. Moving in and starting in my new store has kept me rather busy. Thanks for all your kind wishes though :)

    Some pleasures from this week:

1 - Lots of texts, calls, tweets etc wishing me well. At first this made me sad cos I miss everyone like mad but it is so nice to know that people care.

2 - Went to a pub on Wednesday night to discover a band was playing. They were very good and supped away on a pint of cider so was a cheap but lovely night.

3 - Surprising my mam after work one night. It's so fun to be able to do that. I haven't lived near (not even the same country) to my parents for about 13 years.

4 - Went to an Astronomy lecture last night. Was quite a simple one so I knew a lot of the content but was interesting none the less and there were some fabulous images. Oh and it was only £4!

5 - Someone brought me 'welcome to your new town' flowers today. I was unbelievably touched that someone I hardly know would be so thoughtful. Made me feel a whole lot better about my decision to move.

Those were the days! That truly is incredible.

    My pleasures -
    1) Made some runner bean chutney this morning to a new recipe and I'm glad I tried it. Although it was a bit runny, which was my fault, it only used our beans and onions with a few spices, so I didn't have to put anything in but my time and a bit of energy.
    2) Spent most of the day finishing my OU essay. It feels good to be writing again.
    3) Went shopping with a friend and it was a pleasure to see her back on form after a nervous breakdown a couple of years ago. She was deciding what I needed, getting the shop staff up and down ladders and generally organising everyone, so I let her get on with it.
    4) Pressure-cooked a chicken for the first time today and it took 50 minutes in total. The taste of the carrots I put in with it took me straight back to the 1970s when my Mum used to pressure cook everything.
    5) Don't tell anyone, but I ate half a home-made gluten-free apple crumble today. Well, it would have gone off otherwise.

Morning! Just popping by to post some pleasures for yesterday as I was a bit busy - should be a relaxing weekend (apart from the cleaning). Stepped on the scales and am heavier than I thought I was so will be cutting back on the sweet stuff I'd been eating. Whoops! Anyway, pleasures:

    1. Found a spice seller that does big packs of smoked paprika for a reasonable price so picked one up. That's the one spice I could get through loads of easily.
    2. Finally managed to catch Wartime Farm.
    3. Drove the longest distance I've ever driven - Birmingham and back (about 2 hours there and 2 back) and while it was tiring it was OK.
    4. Painted my toenails. Now I have glam tootsies.
    5. We've got lasagne for tea. I always look forward to that.

Hope everyone has a lovely Saturday. I've got some real "get down to it" cleaning feelings today so will be working on that, but will be stopping this evening for Strictly and a sit down.

    KB xx

Nonsense - I am fascinated by it. My cousin did ours years ago but I wasn't able to go down to his presentation of it. I must ask him sometime for a private viewing. "Who do you think you are" is a favourite programme of mine.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Thanks for the lovely welcome :)

Have another for yesterday - had dinner from what we had in the cupboards (just a pasta salad) and DH asked if we had an onion, so in that went in his saucepan (we have separate as he is a meat eater and I am pescetarian), then I asked if he wanted a mushroom, then I remembered the pesto in the cupboard. He ended up saying it was a gourmet meal, so that was good. :)

One for today, I've been paid for some freelance work I've done! :j So I've put the majority away for Christmas. I left work earlier this year and DH has been supporting me since then, so I've offered to pay for Christmas. I can't wait as we are hosting Christmas Day this year for the first time. I couldn't sleep for ages last night as I was thinking of present ideas! :o Now I have the money I can make a start on buying things. I have the cards already as I got them in the sale a few days after last Christmas.

    1. Its a bright morning here. No wind. Peaceful.
    2. I'm experimenting with different coffee combinations. I don't like spending so much on coffee capsules for my coffee machine (about 50p a cup) so this is to see if I can do without it. I had a sample from a hotel room (think it was blue with white writing) and that was really nice.
    3. OH filling the dw. :)
    4. My M&S sheepskin slippers keeping me warm.
    5. Watching lots of programmes on the Food channel on Freeview (Channel 48) and Saturday Kitchen (BBC1) which has given me a healthy appetite this morning.

Have a peaceful and enjoyable day :A

  • Good morning all

Sparrer -researching the family tree fascinating, not at all boring - I am so nosey I want to know everyones lineage . Would love to have DNA test where they trace what countries we came from originally.

    PK ((hugs))

    newbies -
    welcome

    5 for yesterday

    1. Day off -OH out clay pigeon shooting with his uncle so a quiet day ;) I do need time to myself !

    2. Washing done and line dried - it was such a lovely day .

    3. Beef goulash in slow cooker, brown rice and veg - trying to have more low g.i stuff for more energy and so my "six pack " looks ok in my bikini on holiday:rotfl:

    4. "Dipped" my hair , as my friend would say . More blonde than Boris J. now .

    5. Not a pleasure - hens attacked Stephen the Seagull, OH had to pick him up and pop him over the fence out of harms way - not seen him since:( . Looked out of the window and Lexie hen had the tail of a Jackdaw in her beak - Jackdaw walked off and Lexie had most of its tail left in her mouth:eek: Little bu**ers !

back later .. have a lovely day all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A
