Afternoon! Popping on to report some pleasures as today is a slow, slow day. I haven't the motivation to do a lot, although I've got the ironing done. Here's the pleasures:

    1. A nice look around the shops yesterday with MiL and Mr KB - looking at Christmas decorations! Can't believe they're in the shops already!
    2. Have got a lot of sewing done on my cross stitch and it's starting to take shape. It still looks like it'll take another year to finish ;)
    3. Watching Strictly last night - great fun, and I really enjoyed watching Denise & James' Jive - fab!
    4. A big bowl of pastitsio last night (I didn't have enough lasagne sheets to make lasagne, whoops) Good comfort food though.
    5. The Dakota flew over this afternoon, on the way back from an air show. What a view, it was really low. :)

Not a lot happening here. I'm just watching tv and feeling rather lazy. I think we all need a day like that though. Have a lovely weekend everyone. (((hugs))) to those in need.

Feeling a bit cheesed off this evening, which is annoying. I think it is because I still know ex MrB's timetable (as he's only been gone 2 weeks) so I can imagine him at rugby, then handing his sons over to the ex for "her week", then watching TV this afternoon. Well, he can be doing all that by himself. :-/

Here are my pleasures for today so far.

    1) Not a bad sleep and dreamed I was back at my old school where the hall for assembly had been converted into a swimming pool!

    2) Popped down to mum and dad's with a jam kettle of pig food.

    3) Went to the circus this afternoon!

    4) Got a new thermometer for the porch wall outside because the old one was not accurate at all.

    5) Just made bigger son finish his homework. Lots of blustering and pontificating but it is done now.

    6) School friend on the way over in a mo.

    That's about it!

    1. Making a hot water bottle after seeing the kettle was half full and just boiled.
    2. Reading a good fiction book from the library.

    :)
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

    Hello all!

Sorry, I've been a bit pants in posting.:o However, I'm here now... :D I have just 8 working days left in my current job, before I have a 2 days half term and then start in my new school on 29th October. I'm getting quite nervous, having been quite "chill" about it until this weekend!!

    Anyway, my 5 pleasures:

    1) Went to TKMaxx yesterday. DH thought that he was going to pass out, but we came out with some Circulon pans at a third of the price which we've paid before.

    2) We've had a British Heart Foundation bag pop through the door. It's one of the only bags I'll fill as they DO go to THEIR shops as opposed to a third party who takes most of the money. I've popped a few books in so far, but I'm contemplating whether to put in DH's Lance Armstrong book or whether it's only suitable for pulping. Well, personally I think it's only suitable for pulping but I DETEST binning books. Then again, does anyone want to read what we now know to be lies?

    3) Using Topcashback and Gocompare, I've found that we can save £150 on our buildings and contents insurance on the renewal quote given by our current insurers. Of course, we went with our current insurers on a deal!!

    4) Complete an ironing pile the size of Everest. Well, it certainly felt that way!

    5) Watching the chap who is jumping from 120,000 ft (or so!). Nutter... http://www.redbullstratos.com/live/

Right, off to put a few more books and clothes in the charity bag.

Have a good rest of the day! :j

  • Hi All, Just popping in quickly to post a few before the laptop dies;

    1. Lovely family lunch at mums, lots of catching up with visiting friend.

    2. Coming back from lunch with cake, muffins and wine- not a bad haul, mum gave it all to OH, i think she thinks I starve him!

    3. Snuggling with OH and catching up on last nights X factor. He says he doesn't enjoy watching it but makes me pause it everytime he leaves the room!

I will be back tomorrow for a proper read through all your posts. Keep smiling guys xxx

    Evening all.

CCP ... Your family name wouldn't be anything to do with young hares? Just a long shot :)

No, sorry, although I know the name you mean. Mine comes from an old word for a pilgrim, and a quick look at genealogy sites suggests it's a traditional Norfolk name from the number of us about in that county!

TILAMS - I rather agree with you about Halloween, although I've already decorated my flat with a nicely appropriate black cat - I'm not sure that that counts as he's here all year, though! ;)

I've been feeling horribly shivery for the past 24 hours and am now starting to snuffle, so I've got a nasty feeling I've caught a bug. :( That at least gives me an excuse for today's laziness! ;)

    1) Slept very badly last night as I was so cold - even with the addition of the fleece blanket from the sofa :( - but took the opportunity to have a nice long lie-in this morning.

    2) Watched the re-run of the grand prix as I didn't fancy getting up at 5.30 to watch it live. :o

    3) Harvested the last of my HG tomatoes and brought them inside to ripen, and there's rather more there than I expected. :)

    4) Spent some of the refund from the energy company of a case of wine, using an offer from N&ked Wines from the main MSE website, and got a voucher for £30 for agreeing to give them feedback. (That's not the 'angel' thing, BTW, which seems to be some sort of membership scheme - I'm not clear on the details, though, so I avoided it, which is always a good bet online!)

    5) A nice MSE / OS dinner tonight - a SO bacon joint from L!dl with stuffing, mushy peas and tinned potatoes from AF. :money:

    6) Thinking I might treat myself to a cold cure of honey, whisky and lemon later as I've got half a lemon in the fridge which needs to be used before it grows a fur coat.

    Have a good evening, all.
Back after a very long break!
  • 1.Was so late waking up, that we went straight out to an afternoon boot fair, picked up a few odd things, plexi glass for a project of mine, a caravan water pump, for £2, ok it’s in as new 2nd hand but looked it up on the web as £50 new yikes, picked up a purple top for 50p then realised the purple top I am currently wearing was from the same lady last year for 10p.:rotfl:.. Also picked up a little steam engine model in box, mentally planned it for my nephew but DH now has it.:rotfl:
2.DH and I had worked up an appetite so came back home to the full English in the afternoon.:o
3.Made a batch of coffee and walnut cupcakes to satisfy a sweet craving.
4.I’ve freezer meal planned from today for the rest of the week, the Sunday treat is steak with salad.
5.After some visitors leave in a few hours I will be revising for my interview tomorrow, I am quite nervous, it will be a pleasure to have done it.
  • Thanks DundeeDoll! Sounds like you had a good evening watching the opera! :)

Thanks for posting that link, VickyA! Wondered if he'd jumped yet! I'm tuned in.

Hope you've all had a good Sunday! Here are mine for today:

    1) It was a lovely day today. A bit chilly, but the sun was out. :)

    2) Went for a walk round the park this morning and collected some conkers just for the fun of it.

    3) Not very OS, but we got a Subway for lunch, then went and ate it in the car by the sea. There's a little car park where you can see the ships go out, I find it really relaxing sitting there.

    4) We went to check out a shop MIL had mentioned, but she didn't know what it was called. Turned out it was a B&M, which I've heard of from MSE. Had a look round and I could have got some Christmas presents even cheaper than I did yesterday! Oh well, I know for future! There were a lot of bargains in there, but we just got some dog treatsfor my mum's dog as he's been ill.

Took the treats round and the dog (who hadn't been eating or drinking) wolfed down one of them then lapped up loads of water and had lots of cuddles and seemed to be his old self. I think he was just pretending he was ill for a bit of attention... ;):rotfl:

    5) Wrote 1,301 words today, so I think with what I wrote Friday and yesterday I have the first chapter finished! :)

    6) DH is making a roast for dinner.

    7) Strictly results, Downton and Homeland to watch tonight! Yay! :j

    8) DH has the week off. No plans as of yet, we'll probably have days out etc and maybe one meal out. :D

    9) I am feeling the happiest and healthiest I have been in a long time. Fingers crossed it lasts.
  • Good evening all !

Good luck PK with your interview and VickyA with your new job!

Skint -interesting history ! I love hearing all about that type of stuff !

CCP - we WERE awake for the grand prix :( Fancied a long snooze too as it wasn't a "school day" . :rotfl:ha ha Gang Nam bloke on it :rotfl:

    5 for today .
    1. Lovely weather , so more washing dried on the line .

    2. OH was out so tried on a posh dress that I have had since about 1993 . Tight, long, velvet lycra job and still fits me the same nearly 20 years later :) I might wear it on Christmas day when we go out for lunch .Have to do this sort of thing when OH is out as I didn't fancy being "frisked" and it might have looked hideous on and my ego might not have been able to cope with an "audience" iyswim?:o

3.Made four individual lasagne's two with beef and two with quorn . Vege. ones for my sister and I . Had this with chips for tea (not low g.i) ;)

    4. OH caught a lobster, a crab and a huge brill .Stayed out of the way whilst these were despatched :( "You love foraged stuff " says he ... yeah blackberries :)

    5. Tired today so watched Nicholas and Alexandra and Dog the Bounty Hunter on the sofa with a hot water bottle :)

Have a good evening all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A
