Oh the upward inflection is a common thing among younger people i the UK I have noticed, not just Australians! DD ends all sentences as if they were questions? I picked up on it before but she got really huffy? So I don't bother anymore because she is 23? And she should know better? And I should know better than telling her off at her age? LOLFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

5 for today
1. Back OK until about an hour ago  Will need to see g.p on Friday I expect.
2. Carp day at work , but needed to lay down a few rules/boundaries re pushy phone calls .Not customers they are great but other bliddy Professionals .
3. Booked table for 7pm tomorrow in pizza place looking forward to it but have to travel out of my locality at work tomorrow and there is a famous air show near me which will delay my journey , probably in my time and not works time .
4. Curry for tea - some HM some ready meal .
5. An ex colleague popped in to my office who works for another company and it was so nice to see her, albeit at my desk .
Have a good evening all:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Hello, here are my five for today:
1 managed to salvage all the food from broken fridge, using a picnic freezer block and cool box. What did not fit got cooked.
2 Zumba class, I struggled to motivate myself but I went and am glad I did
3 nice lunch of feta lettuce and tomato salad, part of the food that needed eating
4 because of the cook-up dinner was ready early so I don't have to rush now to cook it, only got some rice to boil and it is done
5 according to fridge tech it should be possible for us to fix the fault, need to clean drip plate at the back, going to have a go. The pleasure is that we are not going to keel over and give up yet, hoping that a bigger pleasure (the fixed problem) comes out of our effort.
Good night. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Evening all.Chickenopolis wrote: »CCP - ((hugs)) to your DS .Well done re the swiss army knife - bet it has a hoof pick on it too
It doesn't, actually - it's got a bottle opener on it, though... :whistle:Just had a hilarious thought - can you imagine if all Mhagster's parrots suddenly chorused 'Help! They've turned me int a parrot' in an Aussie accent? It could be bedlam! :rotfl:
>sparrer slips out of the room, chuckling dementedly....
I'm glad I didn't read your post while I was at work - I think I'd have got some very strange looks too! :rotfl:
1) LO tuna pasta for lunch, and it was just as nice cold.
2) Quite a dull, mindless job to do at work this afternoon, so I was able to listen to the showjumping without distracting myself. (Has anyone else who works in an office noticed that you can tell when someone else is listening to the same sport that you are, as you both start squeaking / hissing with excitement at the same time?)
3) I was a bit worried about mog yesterday as he didn't touch his food, but he's been fine today so it was obviously fussiness rather than illness.
4) Afternoon off tomorrow, although it could be not too pleasant as my DSis (yes, sorry Frith, I mean my sister - I use it to distinguish from DS, which other people use to refer to their son(s)) is bringing her now-ex partner's mother away for a day at the seaside and I'm meant to be meeting up with them. I'm sure ex's mum won't blame my sister for the break-up - her ex-husband was the one who taught him to behave like that in the first place  - but it could still be rather awkward. :undecided
5) Thanks to the wonders of the BBC website, I can watch the BMX qualifiers from earlier while eating dinner.
Have a nice evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Get well NOW Chickenopolis xxx
1. NSD - so nearly wasn't and I'm so pleased it was
2. I found the majority of paperwork I've been putting off looking for for a while, hoping my mum has my O level certificate at theirs, I know, I'm that old!
3. One of DD's most lovely friends came over to play this afternoon, she can come anytime, such a sweetie
4. Great chat to my mum on the phone
5. Managed to pass over some of DD's outgrown jeans and trousers to her friend
6. Quiet day at work
Annoyingly though, whilst cooking dinner I managed to burn my arm, a big red mark about 2 inches long on my forearm looks and feels horribleI'm so clumsy.....

5 for today.
1.Got up early, I’ve realised that I need to sort my clothes out, I need to buy a couple of items not many just a good pair of boots and a cardi, I’ve somehow reduced 4 boxes down to one box, and a bag that will be animal bedding before thrown. It feels really good to have done it and re discovered my other clothes.
2.And I did the classic, tried on a pair of trousers that not only fitted but had a £10note in the pocket!
3.Deep cleaned the bathroom to avoid throwing the clothes out but got round to clearing the clothes out as well doubly clean and de cluttered.
4.DH and I have decided to book in some steam weekends away in 2013 having not got to enough in the past few years with other commitments, We have to plan a year in advance but looking forward to booking them in.
5. A relaxing evening.0 -
Kittkins - ouch to the burned arm. I'm in the middle of cooking one of those teas where nothing seems to be ready at the right time... mashed potatoes, green beans and gravy have been ready for eons, toad in the hole is still toads swimming about in batter.
Here are some pleasures for today. Still feeling very down.
1) Bit of a lie in.
2) Late birthday card arrived for smaller son.
3) Made a picnic lunch.
4) Went to the butterfly farm in Stratford. I can never find Stratford, went home a completely different way from the way I drove there!
5) Sons enjoyed the park in Stratford inc the paddling pool.
6) Nearly made a hearty tea.
7) Smaller son has taken the sheets off the beds for me so we're off to mum and dad's to put them in the washing machine.
No word from OH. :-(0 -
