    Afternoon. Must post some pleasures:

    1. Drove home and smelled the chocolate muffins being baked at the nearby bakery. Always brings a smile to my face.
    2. The day has gone quite quickly.
    3. I've not snacked too much and have been sitting up straight.
    4. Had a lovely time with family yesterday.
    5. The thunderstorms have been incredible!

Tried some lovely belly pork slices barbecued in a Chinese-style marinade yesterday. It inspired me to do the same, so bought some today. Can't wait for BBQ weather now!

    K xx

    Evening all.

TILAMS - I got it! :j I needed all your clues though - I'm not good at riddles. :o

IWAB - it's nice to see you back. :)

    1) Toast with butter and honey for breakfast. Not very healthy, but utterly .

    2) More medals, including a gold for the showjumping. :j

    3) My kind colleagues pretending not to notice that I was surreptitiously watching the showjumping while working. (And, when it got to the very exciting jump-off, neither working nor being particularly surreptitious about it. :o)

    4) A lovely purry welcome home from mog this evening, as we had an argument before I left for work this morning. (As much of an argument as you can have with a cat, anyway - he bit me, I shouted at him, he wandered off and went to sleep on the sofa. smiley-rolleyes007.gif).

    5) cut some more HG sweet peas to replace the ones I cut last week and which were starting to look a bit sorry for themselves.

    Have a nice evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

sonny - My brain just freezes with anything cryptic can only do facts I am afraid .My Mum reads out the cryptic clues on her crossword and I am hopeless !

Iwab - hello ! I can see that you have been busy :D

Sparrer - it's nice to know that I was missed. I must say that making the courgette cake reminded me of our Ladyhawk .I hope her Ladyship is ok??

CCP - Its a nice change to get something for showjumping.

    5 for today

    1. Ha ! Head of the unit announced that we would all be getting work mobile phones and "tablets" not worming , or acid but 'puter things.I will still be turning the b*ggers off after 4pm!

    2.Work ok

    3. HM macaroni cheese for tea - non greasy but nice and cheesey just the thing for this time of year ;)

Kitchenbunny - I want your commute, not least because I'm on a diet!!

    Chickenopolis - gratin dauphinois.....nomnomnomnomnom *slurp* :)

    1. Sunshine :)

    2. Low spend day - turns out I have £20 for the remainder of the month, I forgot about what I had in my purse, so feel positively rich! Shame the £10 petrol I put in the other day won't go very far so I'll probably have to put more in on Wednesday *sigh*

    3. Found 5 more day's worth of some medicine I always forget to reorder......must do it tomorow!! Wish they'd let me have more than a month's worth at a time.....darn it, that'll mean I'll be £7.65 down, but rather that than the consequences of not taking the medicine for the remainder of the month!!

    4. Resisted lots of "bargains" whilst out doing my low spend shopping.

    5. More good books from the library

    6. DD and her best friend chatted on the phone, they're so cute, planning the sleepover of the century, hopefully at her house as I reckon the friend won't last the night away from home, as she's never done it before!

    7. Heard some good gossip about a change at the office, if I'm still around when it takes place, I'll be happy (but fingers crossed for Wednesday when I expect to find out my fate.....)

    8. Made a scrumptious soup to take to a poorly lady from church, with plenty left for me and DD. I know I blow my own trumpet, but I do make a darned good soup, hope she and her daughter like it too!!

    9. Found some good websites for a possible career change if Wednesday goes the way I dread it will.

    10. OH is getting fruitier by the text! I really shouldn't have opened the lunchtime one whilst wandering around Wilko's, lol ;)

    11. Good books out from the library, makes the pain of paying the council tax much sweeter.....

Poorly today with a bad tummy. :(

    Here are my pleasures:

    1) Not a bad sleep. Bigger son came sleepwalking in at about 3am (I would guess) and asked me where "the right places are" !! Then he walked back out.

    2) Washing machine man came early and its been written off. The insurance company will phone me as they have to pay me what it is worth - perhaps £100 now.

    3) Neighbour has offered to do my washing for me. :)

    4) Lots of texts from OH. Quite an argument last night after I told him I didn't think he was bothered anymore.

    5) Took bigger son to the barbers. He has now had over a foot of hair chopped off this year! And she tidied up the back of mine too. Growing it from very short into a bob but the back was growing in to a mullet so she's cut it short so the sides can catch up a bit.

    6) Homemade soup and bread for lunch. Just made pancakes for tea.

and a 7) Smaller son has just come to tell me he has finished the washing up. All except the "fizz". :D (sieve)

    1) car still parked outside house. Wouldnt have been surprised if it'd been swept down the road last night. Can peeps stop singing 'long to rain over us' everytim we win gold!
    2) remembered to take a sarnie into work :money:
    3) colleague gave me lift to gym after work. I was gonna walk but it was persisting it doon
    4) i survived first session with personal trainer. She wants to see me again wednesday  by which time she will have come up with her cunning plan (hope there's no turnips!)
    5) having such good buddies onthis forum. Still tickled by suggestion i get a Parrot and teach it to say help i've been turned into a parrot :rotfl:

I’m home, feeling very pampered by DH, who is so so happy I’m back, not that I wanted to go! They aren’t sure a lot of tests and blood thinning, some tests have been sent off and will take 6 weeks, meanwhile got to ponder on, and get a pre payment prescription certificate, and try to get back to work. It turns out that CT scans freak me out.:o

Kittikins:- Hope you find out one way or another on Wednesday.:)

    1. On the way back from the hospital DH called into Halfords to return an item, we popped next door into homebase we pondered about and kept looking at a brabantia bin that seemed to have nothing wrong with it other than needing a new latch, the lovely man who works there was bantering around and kindly marked it down from £80 to £15 which we leapt at, it turns out he just liked us as we took time to talk and seemed genuine. :o A genuinely lovely guy.
2-5. I’m home wahooooo, I have been told work might be unadvisable, but we need to earn, so I am going to try and go in on Wednesday, Thurs Fri and just see how it goes. Sorry its a bit of a cop out but struggling to think.

    Good evening

    Pleasures for today:

1 babysat for just over 1 hour for a neighbour, nice to get a little cash

2 mixed veg omelette and salad for lunch with DS. Lots of the veg and salad come from the allotment and garden

3 free Starbux voucher, bought DH a large hot chocolate with whipped cream at lunch time.

4 rented free DVDs from library

5 free coffee for me at Waitrose using mywaitrose card

    6 NSD

7 DH persuaded me to go for the outdoor bootcamp even if I was really tired. Glad I went, did ok

8 a bit of Olympics watching, interesting and some of it quite exciting and moving

9 the pleasure of lying in bed wit a cup of tea after a long day!

    Good night.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

TILAMS & DD I'm useless! Black and golden - treacle and syrup. Queens, workers & drones - honey. Canned - steamed pudding. Cat - got the cream...all I think about is food :rotfl:. Think I'll sit back and leave the Riddles to the intelligent..
Chicken I did contact Ladyhawk once and she said her bb had been down. As she didn't say more I thought maybe she just wanted a break from forums. I think of her often and wonder how her move is going/has gone. Also sent ampersand a pm but never got a reply from her, perhaps she's moved on to other things too. Re courgette cake, I think I'll grow a courgette plant next year, might have more success than I've had with toms and beans this.
(((PK))) pleased you're back and hope all will be as well as possible. Sorry about the scan, must have been awful for you
IWAB good luck in advance for the Sept interview
Kittikins what a kind thought/deed to make the poorly lady some soup, I'm sure she and her DD loved every sip

    1. Up and at 'em this morning, last of the washing down done (radiators, skirting etc, not me :D) before the decorator arrived at 8.30am on the dot

    2. Worked extra hard at gym, doubled up my time on the treadmill which has television so I could watch the Olympics, as I couldn't get on the rowing machines which don't. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it :p

    3. Coffee at DD's afterwards as usual, stood repeatedly saying 'HELP!' to the parrot (thought he'd find it easier to learn one word at a time) but he just pushed his head onto the bars of his cage and purred when I scratched his head. He's useless

    4. Getting desparate to find something for my hair for Friday, have been in every shop and scoured the auction sites but no luck. Then today I popped into M@t@l@n to look at curtains etc, and there it was in the childrens dept - the perfect tiny hairband with just a small feather and black ribbon feature. At £2.50 it's just perfick

    5. The lounge, stairs and landing look so bright! The woodwork is so brilliant white I almost need dark glasses, and the supposed-to-be daffodil white walls are so acid I feel like I'm on a trip

    Night night, sleep tight :)
