skint yet again I'm so with you on clothes shopping for a 17 year old son :)
frith you are right to go with your gut instinct. Hope rest of the holidays go well :)

Foggy start to the day and felt very raw and cold. But was brighter when I drove home....saw a few parrots on way back.

1.One from last night, went out to visit a friend for a couple of hours, was nice to catch up with her.
    2.Came home with cake!!
3.Had a very deep bath and started a new book, jim jams on!
    4. cooked up some chicken, pepper, onion and mushrooms with a sweet and sour sauce.....ruined by some horrid fried rice that was a free sample lurking in cupboard.....I managed to eat it but kids couldn't finish it. Anyway....got rid of taste with chocolate ice cream!
    5.Watching Olympics.

    Morning

    Pleasures for yesterday,
    1. Stocked up on OH's shower gel and deodarant at the £ shop. He can only use a certain brand that is usually quiet expensive so great when I see it cheap.:money:
    2. Remembered to take lunch with me to work again.
    3. DM took DD to get her ears pierced, rather her than me but apparently the owner of the shop was very good and made sure DD was OK as was feeling a bit faint after (she is such a wimp:rotfl:) Gave her a sweet fizzy drink and made her drink it before leaving. Also made my mum a coffee.
    4. Got the recharges done at work, this is one of the necessary but dreaded jobs.
    5. Tasty dinner of sausage and pasta soup but we were very naughty and ate it all when there should have been a portion left for today.

Hugs to all who need them

I'm now hoping that our friend is around just before DD goes back to school, as I bought paralympic tickets this morning :) We're going to watch athletics in the stadium, woohoo!!!!

    Good afternoon,

Chickenopolis, thank you for your comment re. good grub, yes I really try to make it varied and interesting, it is a challenge when doing it on a budget and using up leftovers, but it is fun, too. Really, all it takes to make it extra interesting is a good collection of spices and herbs.

    My pleasures for today:

1 - Spoke with DH first thing in the morning

2 - Fresh spinach and cheese omelette breakfast with DD and DS

3 - Zumba class, great fun!

4 - On course for a NSD today.

5 - Going to make jam with the little plums I picked up from the street yesterday, there were loads on the pavement so I filled up a bag, washed them carefully several times and now just need to be converted into a lovely (hopefully) plum jam!

    Have a good day all
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Will start my pleasures now as I feel completely pants today. It is our first anniversary. :-/ In fact, it's the first anniversary I have had since 2004 so feeling quite sad that it's not worth thinking about.

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Got 2 loads of washing done at mum's, one more to do.

    3) Dad gave me a bag of courgettes from their garden.

    4) Watched GB win gold in the rowing.

    5) Looking forward to watching Holby City on iplayer later.

    Skint -
well done on the weight loss!:j

VJsmum- Amish oooh how fascinating . Right up my Champs -Elysees

    5 for today

    1. Out most of the day on a site visit with a colleague - it went like clockwork. Not my particular area of expertise ...but took over , as per usual ;). She said that she was glad that I did .

    2. Gave away 12 eggs.

    3. Line manager a bit frosty because of the phone issue yesterday. Ha ha :)

4.Wild rice, chicken, garden courgettes , mushrooms in a creamy sauce . Yum

    5. Wiggins and co winning gold (so far !) . I would watch out for the young female weight lifter Zoe Smith in the future - awesome strength and just 17 ! Its quite addictive apart from the badminton - I want to kick their butts for purposefully not trying in order to get a more favourable draw:eek: Shame on them and I would ask for a refund on my tickets !!

    have a good evening all!
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A
