Chickenyes, will be backing the horses myself. I've backed and schooled nearly every horse I've ever owned. Much prefer it. I go very slowly,go-with-the-flow sort of thing. Then one day just get on board. The big cob will be backed next summer or early autumn when he's 3 1/2 the other we will leave til he's 4 1/2 a s he's not as mature mentally. DH helps a great deal which is fantastic.

OT - I guessed as much ;) everything good takes time x Great that your DH helps .Mr. Chicken has ridden (badly :)) in a few point to points , and in my experience it is unusual to find many horsey men over 5ft 6 :rotfl:

    Evening all.

Mine for the last two days:

    Yesterday:
    1) Admiring photos from a friend's holiday in a lovely looking cottage.
    2) Enjoying a slice of the delicious coffee and walnut cake she brought back as a souvenir.
    3) Returned the faulty saute pan and got a replacement, although they insisted on processing it as a return and a new sale, which always annoys me as the refund takes a few days so you're paying twice for one item.
    4) A tasty Thai curry for dinner, using up various odds and ends.
    5) Accompanied by the last of the wine I opened over the weekend.

Today hasn't been a great day: I'm not feeling well (I don't know if it's more-severe-than-usual hayfever or the start of a cold :undecided), a colleague gave me some very sad news about her brother (who I've never met, but it's always dreadful to hear of someone being terminally ill at a relatively young age - 60ish), and the sole has fallen off one half of my favourite pair of boots - although I hope some glue will fix the last one!

    1) Came home from work half an hour early as my AF order was due to arrive.
    2) Spent a bit of time unpacking my order, which is always fun if a bit scary - please let me know if you need some tomato puree, as I accidentally ordered 6 catering-sized tins rather than 3.
    3) Lazy dinner of cheese and onion pasty, jacket potato and coleslaw for dinner tonight - a bit heavy on the carbs, but nice when I'm feeling off-colour.
    4) Looking forward to a small glass of my DF's HM 'cough medicine' (raspberry vodka ) a bit later on.
    5) Had a brainwave on how to use up my stockpile of carrots - cake!

Have a pleasant evening all, and may the creepy crawlies give us all a wide berth!
Back after a very long break!

Had two very similar days, so will combine:
    1. The lovely company of my grandchildren, I was over at their house today as its school holidays. I also had the delightful company of:-
    2. Their dog. Beth is a liver and white English Springer Spaniel. When she was a younger dog I used to look at her and think 'The lights are on, but there's nobody at home.' Well, not any more. She is now a really affectionate and much calmer dog who looks at me with such love. She kept bringing me her most precious toy, Pig, that she has had since she was a tiny puppy, to share with me just for a moment.. it was lovely.
    3. Occupational therapist came this afternoon just as I returned and okayed me for grab rails for the bathroom and an extra rail for the North Face of the Eiger aka my stairs. ('Oooh, these are STEEP' - 'Aye, I had noticed'.. :rotfl: )
    4. Work going well, my learners work in hospitality and I was worried that the Easter break would mean that no work was being done. So far, so good, though looking at other posters some areas still have children in schools this week.
    5. The free shampoo & conditioner I got from L'Oreal is AMAZING. Everpure - I would have never risked £6 on a product but I will be happy to pay this.
    6. Giving books (ex Amazon Vine) and now unwanted shampoo and conditioner - plus a lipstick - to my daughter and seeing the pleasure these gifts brought.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

Evening all. Another one who has been missing in action. Goodness, it was manic at the end of last term so it's nice to get back to semi-normality!

    My 5 for today:

    1) My mum came to visit and bought me lunch (Not OS, but I didn't spend my own money ;) )

    2) Sorted out bag for charity collection tomorrow. Books and some clothing to be picked up by the British Heart Foundation (all in good condition).

    3) Flicked through many of my travel magazines (my BIG weakness, I like to dream) to find out info about Barcelona where DH and I are going this weekend. All paid for through Airmiles, including hotel! (now Avios scheme)

    4) sorted out all the lotions and potions which I've stockpiled. Mr VickyA will not need to buy any shaving gel or deodrant for some time!

    5) done a couple of loads of washing...

    Evening

    Pleasures for today,
    1. Bosses birthday so cakes in the office today
    2. Short but quick walk at lunchtime with friend from the office. I am used to distance and speed walking now so even though I did three steps for everyone of his he did suffer ;)

    4. Tasty wraps for dinner, quick and easy
    5. Good chat with DM on the phone and she sounded much better than she has for a while.

Hugs to all who need them

Hmm......think of 5........not amazingly great pleasures today, ho hum. Sorry for being self-pitying, feel free to skip over!!

    1. Reverbe'd a 1p on the pavement, love those moments

    2. Slept well last night, didn't wake up til 7:30am :)

    3. I only bought essential items in Co$tco, but some 'treats' including far too much salad (oh and a rhubarb pie!) in another shop. Anyway, spent less than anticipated.

    4. Watched Holby City tonight, so a pleasure as I enjoy it, but not a pleasure as OH was supposed to be here tonight (and would have whinged if I put it on, lol), but we're both feeling rubbish still so I told him not to come over til tomorrow...........and am now feeling lonely and unloved, silly me! I just feel that he accepted my idea not to come over rather quickly and we've not had much time together in the last month due to moving house, me having the operation, both of us getting this nasty virus :( Anyway, will stop whingeing, tomorrow is another day and all that!

    5. Managed just about to get through all the driving and walking around I did today....but am flipping sore and grumpy and impatient to feel 'normal' again (like I know what normal feels like *sigh*)

    6. Had a kitchen planned out at BnQueue and tried to do it myself at the Swedish home shop. Both plans blooming expensive and panick-worthy so I'll need to ponder awhile but at least I can cope for a while longer with the kitchen the way it is at the moment, I've got used to not having any work surfaces!
