5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Mine for today (friday).
1) Had quite a good sleep last night.
2) Boys off to school happily and enjoyed Sports Relief running.
3) Went to Worcester with my mum and did the charity shops. Got a top and a cardigan and a brand new M and S dressing gown for smaller son. :-)
4) Had a text from my friend saying her treatment went well and she will only need checkups every 6 months. :-) They managed to get rid off all the nasty cells in her operation a couple of weeks ago.
5) Texts from OH and will be seeing him tomorrow. :-)
6) Takeaway for tea.
7) Oh, nearly forget. Got some very pale blue paint for the kitchen and some cream paint for the cupboards and shelves. Had the same kitchen since well before I moved in with very dark "wooden" units so it'll be a big job but a nice change.
Some bad news today, though. Brother went to see the Dr yesterday about his high blood pressure and she is worried about him. He has to have a 24 hour thing taped to him to measure it constantly. She also noticed his blood pressure is different in each of his arms which *can* be a sign of heart disease. My dad's heart failure started when he was 48 (or it was picked up then, don't know when it started). My brother is 28. :-/0 -
Thinking of you and your brother frith, hope it's something and nothing....x0

Aw frith all the best for your bro. Good they're monitoring him.
Freezing here all day as sea mist didn't clear brrrrrr
1) teaching went well. We were looking at online communication. I talked about this site as an example of discusion boards working wellalso talked a little about punctuation. Here is my fave example of the comma. Let's eat granny v. Let's eat, granny :rotfl:
2) lish lunch. Started as hmmm must use up this 1/3 pack passatta. Fried a red onion, added a chopped courgette (probs not very OS buying courgettes in march ) passatta, cooked pasta and sliced frankfurters (also left over). Little bit of grated cheese
3) as worked late last night, had no qualms about trotting down to library after lunch. Reverbed 16p, found 2 more montalbanos :j
4) worked late again. Was last in by some. There were 2help yourself sarnies in the fridge, 1 apple and 4 bananas so i did. Supper was toasted tuna sarnies with salad. The planned pork in UU plum sauce now for tomoz :money: so that's another NSD
5) now in bed watching midsummer murders and hoping to get mussels tomoz at lidl :T need to fill up as well :eek:MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Hi all - for today
1. Did my usual Aldi / Morrisons shop. The two are quite close together in my town, the Morrisons being quite a small one. I can do the two in less time than it takes to get to Sains and I always spend between £25 and £50 less. Aldi was heaving
2. New washing machine delivered - it's doing its first wash now. 3 hours for a wash - but it is 7kg so will save time in the long run. First wash is an empty one so I can put clothes in soon!
3. OH and I have decided that the utility room / conservatory needs money spending on it. After easter we will get a builder to brick up a door we don't use that is going rotten which will create more utility room space, we also need a new conservatory roof, so we think we'll put a glass one in which will make it cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter and therefore more usable.
4. Last lady wot lunches day with friend for a few weeks. twas nice
5. DD has gone to her godfathers for the weekend. She will be thoroughly spoiled by him and his (male) partner. not sure why I have to point out that the partner is also male - I think its cos DD, at 15, is so proud of having a gay godfather and boasts about him to her friends. Shows how times have changed. I am jealous as a jealous thing - I would love to be as pampered as she will be
Instead, I am off to visit dad tomorrow so a day on trains for me - enjoy your weekend all.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
hello
1. last night my friend gave me more playmobile than i have ever seen. party cups and plates, toy cars and clothes for my boys. A boot full of amazing gifts. I am totally overwhelmed by the amount.
2 chatting with my friend she makes great tea and does fab chatting.
3 book group next book is jenny murry

Evening all,
Loooooong day in the office. I only left at 8.30pm... So I am quite weary tonight.
1) Took the first off peak train into London so had time to potter around the flat before I left. It also meant the train wasn't too busy.
2) Stunning tomato soup for lunch - massive bowl for 85p
3) Lovely weather though it is a pity I didn't get a chance to enjoy much of it
And that's probably about it. Not a bad day but not many pleasure in it. There never are when you spend 12 hours staring at a ****ing spreadsheet which has far too many v-lookups.
Night
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Evening
Frith - Hope your brother is OK, hugs to you.
Pleasures for today,
1. Cycled to work today, realised how unfit I am  but did save on bus fares
2. Went for lovely noodles with friends for lunch, this is my favourite place to go for lunch
3. Met OH for a drink after work
4. Bits and pieces dinner. Nice and easy and used bits that needed using
5. Finally sorted OH itunes out so hopefully he will stop nagging now
Will not be on over the weekend as we are having a family night away in Margate. DD needs to take photos of the sea for her art GCSE so seemed a good excuse for a night away and I have never been to Margate. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.0 -
Forgot one for yesterday.
8) Had a phone call from school. Expecting to be berated for one of sons' minor misdoings once again.
Bigger son has done well in his mock SATs so his teacher asked me if she could put him in for a higher paper (level 6). :-) It's going to be a couple of days after the other SATs and she'll tell him all about it one of the lunchtimes.
I'm not sure what benefits this will give him (apart from it would be nice to be level 6!) but good news all the same. Just literacy, not maths.0 -

1. Woke up at reasonable time....all cosy as I had put an extra quilt on bed....a couple of weeks ago, we were boiling at night with a sheet on!
2. My Saturday morning chats with with in-lawsans 2 friends were most pleasant.
3. Saturday scone was rather nice.
4. Shopping coming under budget which was just as well as....
5. Bought 2 new sofas for family room, which will be delivered next weekend. They were reduced as they were discontinued .....much stress for both OH and I....trying to agree on what we both liked!
6.whilst in shopping mode, we went to nearby outlet mall which has recently been re-branded and this was its re opening weekend( we hadn't realized and couldn't understand why it was so busy, however, lots of stores had fabulous discounts this weekend only, so got quite a few things for girls for birthdays/ Christmas gifts.
7.Went to supermarket sized charity shop and got a new top for work and a gorgeous deep purple (my favorite colour) satin quilted bedspread which dd1 has claimed. Once I washed it it " smelled of us" so she's quite happy to nab it!
8.Enjoying spending time in my office today, saw 2 tiny wrens in my climbing roses ,just gorgeous and my blackbird too. Then later me and my husband sat companionably reading in peace and quiet which was most pleasant.
9.We went for a Saturday stroll this evening and I certainly enjoyed a hot chocolate in a heated cafe at the top of our wee town.
10.Kids have enjoyed watching Harry Potter for the umpteenth time this evening.
11.Being cool enough today to wear long jeans, socks, boots, a cardigan and a scarf! was so chuffed!
have a lovely Saturday whatever you are up to....a cooler hug if you need one x0
