Hello from my new house! 2/3 moved, have beds & clean clothes for tomorrow!

1.Woke up early so was here at 6.45am all on my own, cleaning, dealing with 8 legged things all on my own!

2.Have spent day filling my wee car with all the stuff & OH has been transporting the big items. Apart from petrol & it's only a 5 minute drive away, we will need to hire a trailer later in week to bring larger sofa. Our removals will cost less than $100.00 by doing it ourselves.

3.Our kids have been stars! Trailing in & out all day packing & unpacking in 30o heat.

4.Decided to call it a day late afternoon as we've done loads & it is our day off! Fish & chips for tea.....and kids can walk to chippie now!

5.Going to watch last weeks Casualty & have this weeks to look forward to.

Continuing with the I love my new house theme....there are so many cupboards & drawers downstairs it's fantastic. So I have a whole cupboard for baking items (I'm showing off now!)...1 shelf has recipe books, 1 has cake cases! 1 has napkins & paper cups & plates (bought in Tesco & M&S sales when we were home).
Then I have built drawers in a desky thing........1 drawer for ribbon, 1 for card making stuff, 1 for wrapping paper, 1 for fabric and still there are empty cupboards! Then I have commandeered the sunroom as my office.....with 2 comfy chairs for visiting members of my immediate family! It has a built in desk & is full of my shabby chic things that looked so wrong in last house. I love hearts & have so many & this house is perfect for them. I am so ,so happy!

I hope you all enjoy your Sunday, I'll be heading to bed after Casualty I think .

    3. Made a list of things I have to do in 2012 - #1 look into bungee jumping, #2 learn to swim...23 items in total which I'll have a good go at getting through. Not very MS but it's now or never!

Are you sure about bungee jumping? Have you seen the youtube of the girl in Zimbabwe whose rope snapped and she fell into the crocodile infested Zambezi?

Welcome to new people - this is the nicest, friendliest thread on the forum IMO. Happy birthday Mum2Ellis

    For yesterday

    1. New phone, posh android thingy. Was a belated birthday pressie and got a good deal. (Not very OS though!)
    2. Watching DS play in a lads v Dads match. It also included mums but I wasn't going anywhere near it!
    3. Out at a friends for dinner - we see them too rarely but it is always an excellent time. One friend and I nearly had to be separated as we were being too naughty and giggly at the table - he was drinking but I was sober! The others said we were like naughty children at the back of the class and called us chuckle buddies (to me, to you!:rotfl:) Great fun!
    4. The January shopping budget only went about £20 over - the first time I have ever set a budget and it was about £150 lower than it used to be.
    5. Ate too much baguette at lunch with pate, cheese and jam (not all together :p) tres Francaise!

Off to watch DS have his first Skiing lesson in a mo. He will be a couple of hours in by time we get there so should be able to stand up and move a bit at least. Oh and stop, hopefully:rotfl:
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Yes I think so, depends if 'they' allow me to. I could always strap my nebuliser on first :rotfl:. The number of people booking a cruise only dropped on the two days following the Costa Concordia tragedy. Over 30 people a day day in car accidents in UK but millions of us will still get in our cars today, me included. The girl bungee jumping survived. I can't be certain but I don't think there are any shark infested rapids in UK? ;).

Bless you for thinking of me, but as I said if I don't do these things now I'm so going to regret it. I think it was Erma Bombeck who said (and this is my quote for the year)

Life is not a journey to the grave
    With the intention of
    Arriving safely in a pretty
    And well preserved body,
But rather to skid in broadside,
    Thoroughly used up,
    Totally worn out,
    And loudly proclaiming,
    Well !!!!!! What a ride!

    :)

    1. Broomstick-found a Thermos 6am. 2 friends booting, one with leg in plaster is fretting as she's usually working in the Alps, ski instructor>English spkrs atm. This Thermos is hi-spec for mountain use[but funny light blue/red stopper of the right kind, hence my querying it]. Should be good - I'll sluice and test today - just pm me your addy. A v.g.feeling no. 1 - I fear you may receive a Bill For Ten Shillings:-).
2.Also back with a tray of 30 perfect peaches £2, 11 lemons £1 - fantastic. It 's so bleak and bitter, Fen ice winds driving and gusting today. Just seeing this lovely fruit laid out, proof of long hot sun, was gorgeous, uplifiting and man[with really likeable young lads as helpers]was doing a roaring trade.
    3. A £coin was suddenly in plain sight on passenger seat. From where? So unlike me not to have known one was missing - please may I have it as a reverbe?
    4. Loved the buzz of early hunt today - dark, cold, but endless repartee as dealers jolly and greet each other. I love the real camaraderie which is thick and warm and mutually supportive. Exchanges with peeps not seen ...since ..ooh...when...last time? are always a pleasure.
    5. It's gorgeous in mhagster's sunroom. I'm loving it - taking up residence, but that's our secret. It's glorious - your joy just surges off the screen. Keep feeding us more.

  • Good morning - M.I.A yesterday !

    welcome to all the newbies!

Ladyhawk- there is a film on called Ladyhawke this afternoon -are you in it??

millie- glad you are getting your mojo back x

pk- I used to work next to a small Co op , it was something akin to an "S & M" experience as you would pay to go in to be abused . It was so bad that it was like a Little Britain type place - sulky, over exaggerated gestures and snappy, insulting comments at the checkout and deliberately unhelpful staff. Funny, as I now work with some guys who use the shop a lot as they live near to it and I mentioned THE "Co op" and they said exactly the same thing :rotfl:

    5 for yesterday

    1. OH unblocked the drain that had been causing problems for sometime. It is a storm drain and the manhole cover was under about 6 ins of mud directly in front of the chicken house. OH put some construction wire over the hole and one hen was so peed off as se wanted to get in to lay and egg and had to do the "wall of death" around the hole to get in. She didn't lay an egg after all having spent ages in there,as she was "put off". Might be why we only got 2 eggs yesterday:)

    2. Spent hours chopping an peeling , but enjoyed watching K. Floyd on Saturday Kitchen circa 1980's whilst doing so- brings back nice memories of my misspent youth:rotfl:

    3. Cooked a loads of Chinese food for 9 family people. As per ususal I cooked for about 900 people. Spent about £20 on the ingredients , most expensive part was the duck that OH "had" to have.It was really nice , the chicken balls (take away secret , recipe) were well received ( need seasoning in the batter though!)

    4. Lots of the above food left over for the hens to eat.

    5. Spending time with my family and having a lot to laugh about.

Am ill. :-( Nasty flu type thing where everything aches and all my nerve endings (for want of the right techinical term) feel jumpy!

    Anyway, 5 for yesterday.

    1) Bit of a lie in.

    2) Went to show mum and dad the new car.

    3) Drove to OH's without incident and more nippily than usual (he's 50 miles away).

    4) Smaller son played well with OH's bigger son.

    5) Watched Diary of a Wimpy Kid which we enjoyed.

    6) OH made a tasty tea.

    7) Bigger son got a bit oversensitive - not sure why. He decided he didn't want to stay overnight so I ended up going to bed with him 10ish (I WAS ill!) telling him stories and reading. Woke up the morning jammed inbetween bigger son and OH!

    8) Oh yes, no longer in chronological order now! Had a chicken carcass left so made some stock yesterday. Just thrown in carrots, sweet pots and lentils and will liquidise it when its gone cool.

    9) £19 cheque came from Music Magpie for my old CD's. :-)

Sparrer - love that! Thanks for sharing it. :)
Chickenopolis - Keith Floyd is one of my heroes!

Well, here's the pleasures for today so far:

    1. Cooking a rump roast of beef for Sunday lunch. It's in the oven now and starting to smell amazing! The beef was a Christmas present from Mum & Dad so I shall truly enjoy it.
    2. Having another lay in this morning, and not even waking until 8 o'clock.
    3. Noticing that it is light when I woke! The longer days are nearly here.
    4. My local Spar has had a complete change-about and is actually quite competitive with the supermarkets on some things, like meat!
    5. Reading a free book on my Kindle (Christmas present) - The Cook's Oracle. It's really interesting. :)

    Have a lovely day everyone.

:D I loved the film when I first saw it, though it is rather dated now. Its on Channel 5 fairly regularly.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

I haven't experienced this yet - but can't wait. I loathe January - the nights seem to be getting lighter but the mornings seem to remain just as dark.
