  • Kittikins, glad things are looking up, but emotional stress is so draining, hugs.

    For Today
We have joined up to Booker, rather than pay membership to repeat at Costco, as we have one locally it has to be worth a ponder, will have a look around but probably won’t buy at the moment or may use it to try the weekly shop budget in type thing as we don’t need a weekly shop this week.
DH has created a lovely casserole, the smell of which is driving the cats and ferrets insane, it does smell lovely but another 3 hours to go! In keeping with MSE and less waste he’s used the rest of the veg going off to blanch and freeze.
A load of washing done and dried, but still very behind.
A book I picked up at the charity shop which was part of a series and I was dubious about, is a pleasant surprise of hard to put down, if they still have the 50p offer on I would like to pick up the rest, but what is the betting the offer will have finished and they are marked up at 1.50 each normally, corr dear I must be tight or broke not willing to pay charity shop rates.
This evening holds a lot of job hunting, which will be a pleasure of sorts.

PK - check your local library for the books?

    1. Lovely well wishes from your lovely lot, warmed the cockles of my heart yet again :)

    2. NSD - hoorah!

    3. Managed to get free parking at the hospital, where both my parents were going for appointments for their ailments.

    4. Managed to drive to and from the hospital (about 40 miles round trip) without my dad criticising my driving!! A rare occurence :)

    5. My parents filled my car up for me, so really it's been a money saving day as I should hypothetically put the equivalent in my savings pot, but I won't.....

    6. as when I popped out to get potatoes from their localish farm shop which I'd never been to and oh my goodness, it's a treasure trove of lovely fruit and veg, great bits and pieces for the house that you don't necessarily need but really WANT so may have to go back there tomorrow on my way back home when my bro comes down to keep an eye on them. I've seen a fab sign, bit like an old bus destination sign that reads "NAUGHTY BUT NICE" and I might just have to buy it as a present to my hopefully new kitchen, I love it :)

    7. Lovely chat with DD, who is having a great time

    8. Fabulous texts with my wonderful friends who are looking after my little cherub

    9. Looking forward to not having to cook dinner tonight, as I will be well catered for and hopefully have a glass or two of vino to wash it down :) Got to make up for my lack of enthusiasm on the wine front over Christmas you see ;)

    10. Yummy texts from OH, he's such a caring yummy man

    Evening all.

Kittikins - I'm so pleased to hear that everything's OK.

Broomstick - have you given the recipe for your eggy / potatoey bake before? If not, could you post it, please, as it sounds intriguing.

    1) An unexpected day off work as the insertion of the implant left me feeling horribly wobbly (I'm pleased to say the effect has pretty much worn off by now).

    2) NSD.

    3) Phoned the AA to let them know I wouldn't be renewing my breakdown cover, and they've offered to half the price if I'll stay. It's still £20 more than if I go with a rival firm, taking cashback into account, but you get various discounts which I think will save me more than £20 over the year. :j

    4) Spent the afternoon playing daft computer games, until the flipping thing crashed just as I was about to complete a particularly tricky level. I'll have another go in a minute... ;)

    5) Easy but tasty dinner tonight of veg chilli-stuffed squash, topped with the last of the smoked cheese that's been sitting around for far too long!

    Have a nice evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

Had a lovely, happy, shiny thread all typed out, then Lappytoppy decided to eat it
    So heres the expurgated version:
    OS pleasures so far today:

1)Little jaunt into Town to see what Xmas bargains still remain. No rush to get back so it was very leisurely.

    2) On said trip into Town, popped into Mr S to see what was still hanging around. Picked up some lovely gold tablecovers and napkins all at half price. But the best by far - you know the Cupcake stands, cardboard 3 tier thingys, usually a good 3 or 4 quid each? They had a boxful, priced at............ wait for it...........10p each :eek::eek::eek: Not sure why I thought I needed 5 of them, but Im sure It'll come to me :o

    3) Had a quick peek at the stuff Ive been picking up over the past few weeks, and Ive got all the cards, gift tags, wrapping paper, gift bags, cupcake stands :o and decorations I need for this coming Christmas :j:j:j:j

    4) Had a big clearout of PW, and found an old concertina-style binder. I have labelled the sections with months, and put in all the birthday cards that I have bought in advance in the hope of not forgetting anyone this year!

    5) My personal favourite - saw my first snowdrops of the year today :D

It sounds as though there are some tough personal struggles going on at the moment, y'all stay strong and take care of yourselves
Don't put it DOWN, put it AWAY! ;)
You can't expect to Fly if you're still wearing your pyjamas! :j:j:j

    Good evening all !

millie -you know what they say... where there is muck there is.........a smell :D

Kittikins - Crikey - you have had a lot on your plate for the last few months. OH's health, your health, your folks' health, the new house.... You need a holiday kiddo ..

niksyg- what a tough day you had re the "anniversary" xx

    5 for today

    1. Old hen in fine form doing her weird flamenco dance (one wing down and a shuffle and a dance) at one of the others that she has taken a dislike to when they all burst out of the hen house this morning. It did make me laugh at 6.30am :D Not much does at 6.30 am.

    2. Ok ish day at work which got better as....

    3. I took two hours of flexi leave ( I have accrued loads) and left at 2pm .

    4. The guy who has just been promoted is turning in to a nightmare , having a newly acquired "aura" of self importance . It is quite funny really , but will soon induce a reaction in me like finger nails down a blackboard ....I know I will need to sew a zip over my mouth ...

    5. Made fake away KF* nuttybabe are you watching ? It was nice and only used one chicken breast, breadcrumbs from the freezer and some chicken seasoning .

Have a good evening all !

    WOW weird font !!!

    Ahh, are we twins!!??

Kittikins- pleased that things are looking more positive

    My five for today :)

    1. Sorted some stuff out at work and took some pressure off our admin staff, who are horrendously under-staffed at the moment
    2. Went to see el ponios. Went to catch oldie who announced "shan't/won't/can't be caught" then clocked that next doors horses were doing the wall of death around their paddock so she set off around her field, in support, doing her welshie "look at meeeeeeee" trot
    3. Finally grabbed hold of the little [STRIKE]&%*$[/STRIKE] darling, but which time her sister had demolished 2 fence rails in an attempt to let herself in  Fixed fence, tucked hooligans up with huge haynets
    4. Had to go to Mr T, really couldn't put it off any longer, but it was obviously meant to be, because there was a whole aisle of RTC Xmas tat:j and once again, it would have been rude not to stock up. I now have enough xmas tat for the next five years for us and the next street!!
    5. Can't think of a 5, but just to note that I have some lovely family, colleagues and friends (online and in real life):A

Hugs/get well vibes to all in need. CCP- hope you are ok now hun xx

Ahh bless, she sounds fab and you've just reminded me to shut the rabbits in the, errr, chicken loft xx

Great idea and I just checked, all of the books are loaned out and not due back until the end of Feb.

I will have a ponder into town, you never know, fingers crossed.

    Evening,
I have been such a piggy the last few days! I've been eating everything in sight though did manage to say no to a second slice of carrot cake... But that was only because my first slice was MASSIVE!

    1) Beautiful moon this morning when I drove to work before dawn and stunning moon rise on my way home.

    2) So busy today and the boss said something nice about a project I am working on with on with one of the other senior buyers. Let's see if the other buyer let's me take any of the recognition when he presented the updated version after I left this evening. He is notorious about not giving credit where credit is due.

    3) Walked into town with my colleague W who has been on holiday for the last 3 weeks. Sadly she had a rather disastrous holiday which is so sad as she had been looking forward to it for ages. Anyway it was nice to catch up with her.

    4) Went to look at another new flat which was really lovely but I just didn't "feel" it.

    5) Picked up my photos - so will spend the evening going through them. I must write to their customer services to highlight the good customer service I got from their store manager.

Night night - I'm cream crackered after waking up from a particularly nasty and violent dream :(
    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
