Hugs niksyg and scotrae xx Hugs to everyone, sorry I'm not organised to do one of the fabulous personal posts where I remember everyone's names, but thank you to those that do them, I love reading them
Another not particuarly great day today....Well, I've managed a NSD today but not sure how many more I'll do for a little while. I've had to come up to stay at my parents' leaving DD with friends, as my dad has been taken into hospital tonight with a mystery illness. Hopefully it'll be something and nothing but my mum is quite frail so someone needs to be with her overnight and can't drive far, so I'm needed to look after her and hopefully not worry too much about my dadSo, it'll be car parking and petrol, as my parents are about 100 miles away from home. Thank God for good friends who have scooped DD up into their loving arms and will keep her with them as long I need to be away.
OH is still unwell, he tricked me with the saucy texts last night into thinking that he was up and about and firing on all cylinders again.....but in fact he's still "resting", silly goose...
1. NSD
2. Having brilliant friends who have taken DD in
3. Having a gorgeous DD who has drawn a beautiful get well soon card for her grandad and is being very grown up - she wants to be here so she can see all the tests in the hospital, my little wannabe doc! (or possibly wannabe vet, she's widening her options at the moment, lol).
4. Nice chat with OH who is still on his sickbed, but sounding chirpier than he has done for a little while. Was supposed to be seeing him tomorrow, but absence will make the heart grow even fonder *swoon*
5. Helped a friend with some French translation
6. Helped another chum by taking her son up to school with us this morning as she was going on a course that started earlier than work.
7. French class at local school was fabulous, I was surprised at how much they remembered once they got going0 -
Good evening all - just in, with:
1. One lock of my long hair is a v. Jenny Josephs purple ce soir, in time for tomorrow. College salon had made huge mess of afternoon appointments colliding with some exam, so had >60mins' wait while they found some graduates to attempt the usual miracles[de-badgering for me]. All in all, v. superior+extra treatments @ 1/4 price appt offered in goodwill, plus several waiter/tray served coffees+extras from the College training restaurant....a most happy outcome.
2. My delight in Martin O'Brien as auteur francophile, already unbridled, just soars as I read and re-read each little point of recognition, known territory, and:oalso have close-scale street maps/pics and phone i'net ref.s on the go simultaneously - yes, absurdly OTT and I care not. I am there! I am there! L'estaque/Rive Neuve/Rue Calisto, haunts around the less salubrious 15ème, le Vieux Port etc.etc.
3. Called re:Spitalfield Antiques/Vintage/Flea Market before setting off and conversed with a delightful male voice. Will visit Big Smoke and take a look, as will he[he has waiting list and loyal dealers]and we'll see whether I cut mustard. Fingers crossed.
4. Doggedly stuck at slow and wretchedly disappearing listings on ebay yesterday and threw another thing on this a.m. Research takes me so long and my writing becomes Dissertation-like:rotfl: Watchers galore though, which is encouraging and one instant bid on a vintage shaving brush.
5. Was astonished to find I could book a decent, competitive Qantas flight to NZ on Mr T's site, paying by Clubcard Plus, obtaining the usual CC+ Double Points...and I'd never even noticed Mr T's Travel section before...not Airmiles, just a normal 'product' category. Checked it with HO to be sure...would be worth nearly £50 in Rewards, so worth factoring in. Need to keep earning/saving.
Another 5. Called for small petrol at Mr T and was lucky...again. Bread, veg., fruit, dairy, deli, scallops, naughties, growing salads and herbs, all sorts of other at top item price of 7p!...trolley full. Receipt may be 42.5cm long:eek:but total spend is £3.15. Phoned friend in next village to say there'll be a.m. del early demain, en route>Charity. It's wonderful when this happens.
Thankyou all for Welcome Back comments - yes, I have been lucky. Tumours were removed in a straightforward and uncomplicated way. I thank Addenbrookes completely. One reads moans, hears of horrors: I have experienced nothing but painstaking, courteous, caring, competent care and attention throughout a series of disparate 'events' in the last 2/3 years[although all were probably related.]
As I read, I am over and again wishing similar help and beaming recovery for all of you caught in troughs and rackety health atm - niksyg, scotrae, sparrer, purplekitten, kittikins and kittikins' dear OH and Papa, Frith[for cold only:D,as [STRIKE]MrB[/STRIKE]OH is your personal Get Well tonic, CCP, bupster...all who feel knocked below par in Life's fortunes or health. I want to say it's the season, but it did feel amazingly mild out today.
Bed and book and first big brush of 'new me' hair now. Should be dry

I don't post for two days and look what happens... a trillion posts and people returning! Hello to all. :hello::hello::hello:
Anyway, five pleasures for whenever:
1. DS1 returned from his travels on Sunday, very chatty and tired. I was glad he'd had a good adventure and was home safe and sound again. (Thanks, Sparrer)
2. Another couple of NSDs (eight so far and half way to this month's target) and NPDs and money in the savings pot. It's such a help not allowing myself to pop out to the shops. I still have money in my purse.
3. Got my daily 'to do' book started again which helps a lot when everything feels as if it is getting on top of me. I don't lose things so easily and it helps me keep on top of work. I've got the wall calendar up to date as well and am remembering to write things in - the next three months look so busy and I'm pleased about feeling more in control of the chaos.
4. Our favourite cheese, egg, onion and potato bake last night for supper and again, cold, for lunch then stir fry for supper tonight. I've got though more of the veg box than I thought I would with DS1 being away, haven't finished it though, but the stuff that is left in the fridge still seems very fresh so won't go to waste next week. I've ordered slightly less for tomorrow's delivery - am pleased with myself for remembering to do that.
5. DS2 was given an electronic keyboard as a Christmas present from relatives and he's been teaching himself to play. Some of the stuff he is trying is sounding really lovely. It's nice to hear him trying and sometimes succeeding!
Sweet dreams

Lesson for the day #1: apparently you can buy too much xmas tat- even when it is a tempting 80% off in Paperchase. Who knew. Lesson of the day #2: it is always better to remember where one parked one's car before getting in a flap about said car having been stolen. Quite who would want to steal my mobile kennel/tack room, I have no idea. Anyhow, car was where I had left it, large as life. At least this time, I found it before I alerted the parking man to the "theft". Having him drive me around the carpark and point out my car where I had parked it wasn't one of my finest moments
millie- hilarious :rotfl:However the sheer panic moment is definately NOT funny. You can't blame altitude sickness now xx Paperchase - oooh precious , pretty things, all very useful of course - especially the glittery kitch reindeers .....
Lucky Mrs. pony carer - she won't take the smellies as a "hint" will she???;):AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Good evening from me: Have had an excellent day!
1.Phoned one of my best friends from home, she had sent me a rather frazzled email asking for advice, advice given! Nice to be there for her....even though I'm over here!
2.Good day at work, it's nice to be back although it was a thought yesterday morning to get up & go!
3.We have a NEW house! Hurrah for lovely estate agent phoning me this morning to tell me the good news. I am so happy!
4.However, as I've just paid rent for here & we have to pay rent for there I will be skint.......pleasure? Freezer is full of RTC & pre made meals, there's enough food in cupboards that we will certainly not starve!
5.My ducklings are all grown up duckies now but they were still altogether as a family of 9.....and moorhens are all grown up but still calling for their mummy....somethings never change do they!
Have a great day, hope your dad is feeling better soon kittikins, I'm sure young Miss Kittikins will be just fine!0 -
Kittikins - hope your dad gets better very soon.
Niksyg - my brother and dad were beating yesterday so we eat a lot of pheasants too!
5 for yesterday (Monday)
1) Boys off to school quite happily.
2) Healthy eating plan started. Can't believe I have put a stone on after losing 2.5 in 2010!
3) Tidied entire house.
4) Took my brother's dog for a walk.
5) Made numerous phone calls and did admin type jobs.
6) OH came round after work. :-)0 -
Kittikins - Hugs to you and hope your Dad is better soon0
-
Kittikins - ditto to what Tealady said, and hope your dad is on the mend soon.
My 5 for yesterday:
1. Feeling very organised on first day back at work. New diary with to-do list, plus new office which is lovely. It has given me the inspiration I needed.
2. I sold a book on Amazon
3. Nice walk at lunchtime and bumped into some neighbours so had a nice chat. For me it is just great to see people when I work from home and live in the middle of nowhere!
4. Managed to complete all 3 levels on the Flylady! (That makes it sound like a computer game!) The house is starting to look a bit of a tip after the holidays, people staying, all being ill so I felt a real sense of accomplishment straightening it out again.
5. Lovely run in the countryside in the moonlight. I took a headtorch but the moon was so bright I switched it off for most of the way.0 -

Well, she bought me some for xmas, so call it revenge. Mind you, after we have mucked out straw beds, I'm sure we are both equally minging!!
Kittikins Get well soon vibes for your Dad and :cuddle: for you0 -
Thanks for the hugs and well wishes everyone
Thankfully its turned out to be something minor, not the stroke that they first thought, but both my parents are cream-crackered from all the stress, so me and bro are going to take it in turns to babysit them for a few days (they'd be horrified at the thought of babysitting as they are only in their 60s but we're concerned kiddiwinks!)
