Kittikins you'll be fine! I always panicked when we bought a 'new' house, then panicked more when we bought our first business - it was fear of the unknown, I'm sure. The increase in mortgage is more than worth the pleasure of having the home you've set your heart on, money becomes the less importnat thing. As long as you can cover the mortgage everything else will fall into place, and just have a read back over your post to see how many cost cutting things you've done in a day or so - made a birthday cake, had a child's portion of f&c with extras, birthday treats supplemented by vouchers, a 'free' baby-sitter so you can do your course which could lead to who knows where, a free professional initial survey - with that mind set you're going to be very happy in your new home :)

Thanks sparrer, you're a star to make me see it like that! I tend to catastrophise when planning ahead, lol. I'm going to lurk even more on the OS boards and get some more frugal tips so that I can save on everyday things to put money aside for all the good work I want to do in the new house :)

How funny, Frith, My colleague went there yesterday! We always have a bit of banter about our relative tastes in music which couldn't be more different so i ripped into him a bit about this one ;) Actually i think each to their own and as long as you enjoy it - do it!

Is it too early for todays?

    1. Finished all the christmas shopping i need to "shop" for - have some on line stuff to do
    2. Got some bargain ski gear for DS holiday with school
    3. Lovely lunch at Druckers (midlands based patisserie and coffee shop) which included yummy chocolate mousse cake
    4. A large glass of red soon
    5. DD made me a cuppa when i got home.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Many thanks with for all the postivness :-)
Firth Hugs and a glass of whatever the poison is..

Struggling with what to write here tonight, it’s been a long day travelling about, and I didn’t get much sleep last night making me a little less happier today.

The interview went ok, it didn’t go perfectly but you never know it was only one question I got stuck on so not the end of the world, I get to find out on Monday.
Coming home to a large hot warm tea.
RTC sausages and chips cooking in the oven.

Hope everyone has lovely weekends planned, I am off to pick up my niece a necklace via a voucher covering the full amount from last Sunday’s paper.

    Evening all.

    1) Spent most of the morning working with a colleague who's also one of my closest friends. As usual, we proved very efficient at distracting ourselves with trivia, and less efficient at doing what we were meant to be doing. :o

    2) Watching my employer's animated Xmas e-card which, unusually for these things, is both amusing and rather sweet.

    3) I left my shoppin list at home and had to go round the supermarket without it, and amazingly I didn't forget banything.

    4) Mog's favourite cat food was still on special offer, which was a relief as he's refusing to eat anything else at the moment.

    5) Macaroni cheese for dinner (albeit with rather un-OS RM cheese sauce :o).

Apologies for the typos - this messsage was brought to you by CCP and mog! ;)
Back after a very long break!
  • Good evening all!

especially CCP's Mog , what a clever cat.. Stephen Fry of the cat world eh?

PK -fingers crossed xx it must be really unsettling for you like a rollercoaster I guess? All that interview adrenaline, no wonder you get tired.

Frith -hope your tummy problems get sorted soon x. Not stress related is it? Sorry I sound like some sort of quack tonight .

Kittikins- grab your dream house girl with both hands !! You can do it , you are very savvy and organised with money !

    5 for today

    1. Day off !

    2. Washing almost dried on the line , finished off on the radiators and coat hangers . Have not resorted to the tumble dryer yet :D

3.Spent the day cooking and tidying up the kitchen. This time of year bumbling around at home does my soul good:)

    4. Made a roast chicken dinner, own gravy, leeks in cheese sauce, broccoli, carrots ,peas and packet mix yorkshires ( bleugh). Saved some of the cheese sauce ( sorry CCP I should have thrown some of this your way ;))to have macaroni cheese over the weekend and have enough chicken and gravy left to make a chicken and leek pie. The best thing was paying for the chicken with a gift card made it taste even better:) My own hens spent most of the day watching me pottering in the kitchen from their "perch"-on top of our picnic bench .

    5. Ice Road Truckers now on - Lisa is fab and I admire her determination in a male dominated environment, I can relate to it .

    Have a great weekend all!!

Love it!! Does CCP stand for Crazy Cat Person? That would be fab! I need to rename myself CPP (crazy pony person) or CDP or CRP (ditto dog and rabbit)

    Mine for today

    1. Managed to sleep really well last night and didn't wake up til 7am. Wooo!!
    2. Found a tin of Quality Street in Tesco for £4 to share with my 2nd years. 2nd Years did some really good presentations and have worked so hard! Proud of them!!
    3. Cheeky chippy chips for lunch, shared with Dad :D
    4. Oldie behaved (yes, you did read that right!!) The only incidents today were her (v expensive, especially made, not very MSE) thermatex being dragged off the door because she had to wait for her tea and her biting mum on the bottom as she put on her PJs (oldie's PJs, not Mum's :D ). Not too bad! She is now all snuggly in her warm PJs, munching hay :)
    5. Made some mull(er)ed wine tonight and wrapped some xmas pressies with mum :)

Saturday tomorrow! Yay!! I Can't go too far as parentals are out and I am on GSD duty :)
