5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Well, following on from the one off evening out, and getting up and on with things on Saturday, I haven’t slept that deeply in a very long time, so I laid in to about midday and didn’t feel guilty about it, as it feels so nice to have got a proper night’s sleep.
1. A Sunday morning err I guess afternoon brunch of a bacon bits and egg sandwich.
2. I was bringing the line drying in and taking the wet load out when I noticed the back of the house was literally moving in the sun, on closer inspection I called my OH out, as we watched literally hundreds of lady bugs off all shapes and sizes and of all colours trying to find somewhere to curl up for the winter, and it was amazing to see. I snapped a few photo’s but it doesn’t really come across as it was the movement that was amazing.
3. I put a coat of proper soaking in wood polish on the couple of cupboards we got a good few years ago as I couldn’t remember the last time they had been looked after, they are going to need a few more coats of polish but it’s a start.
4&5 Just happy enjoying home cooking and making the most of things.
Off to look up how to make bread and butter pudding.0 -
Hello all
Firstly Sparrer- sending big hugs and we are all here if you want to talk xx
doodoot - welcome! I am still a bit of a newbie, but I have been made very welcome
Kittikins- sorry, but the seagull story made me giggle - just the type of thing that would happen to me!
In other news...I seem to have had a bit of a relapse. Meh. Started to feel v odd and wobbly last night, so went to bed early and zonked. Woke up this morning feeling very flu-like. GP said it could take some time to get over it, but I honestly felt well enough to go back to work - lesson learned!
I shall attempt five!
1. Mini lie in as I had a morning off the hosses
2. Which turned out to be a day off :hail: yard owner
3. Oldie was reportedly very "civilised" today, which probably means she didn't bite anyone on the bottom/barge anyone out of the way/pull her rugs off the door/attack the others over the fence
4. Made a charm bracelet for a very important person, who has come a long way recently, with some charms that read "believe", "love" and "trust". Very apt for her - I hope she likes it
5. The Secret Millionaire is on TV, I always find it very humbling and no doubt there will be tears before it is finished (mine!)
Love, hugs and strength to all in need xx0 -
What a beautiful day! And it was still warm when I hung the washing out in the dark.
1) Going down to the allotment (a little late) to mend the back and side fences with the bee lady and our respective husbands. We couldn't have done it without them. The bees got a little agitated with all the banging and the geese next-door-but-one were eyeing us warily but despite all the rotten wood and rusty nails, no-one got hurt.
2) While we were down at the allotment, my brother rang up. I haven't seen him for months so we were speculating that he had a new girlfriend and he wanted to bring her over. Guess what ... ? Anyway, we all had coffee in our scruffs and she seems very nice, if a little wary at first of these mad people in muddy jeans with nails in their pockets and wild hair.
3) Moved the pear tree with DH. It's always looked a little unhappy so I've put it on the drier side of the garden. Now, of course, I can legitimately squeeze another fruit tree in.
4) Made some dahl for tea. It costs very little and tastes great. Furthermore, there's some left over if DS's gf should need a vegan meal at short notice within the next couple of days.
5) Another free fire and watched Red on L@ve F1lm for free. It's a spoof spy story and we enjoyed it very much.
Best wishes for the week ahead.0 -
Morning
Sparrer - Hugs
Pleasures for the last couple of days,
1. Helping out at the rainbow fun day and them really enjoying decorating biscuits. The theme was Wizard of Oz, DD did a lion biscuit as a demo biscuit which was really good.
2. Went to a concert on Saturday night with OH. More his kind of music than mine but still very good.
3. On way home from concert got a tube straight away and wasn't packed as we were heading west out of Hammersmith and the majority were going back to central london
4. Ordered some clothes from Next in the sale plus had a £10 discount code that I had been sent
5. Hair cut and dyed yesterday so no longer look like a badger and all smart for Nieces wedding on Friday
6. Reduced cooked chicken in waitrose. Some of which was converted into Chicken fried rice with curry sauce for dinner.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Hmmmmm....need to think of some for today, has poured with rain all day & went from 30o to 13o in a day! Our water tank is seriously leaking water which we will be charged for
but landlord has been out & will bring the right parts tomorrow....brought wrong ones today!
Had to get a new battery for my car which was not cheap but will hopefully be an end to not starting !
1.Day off work , so an extra hour in bed.
2.Went to nearby mall with The Oldies to show them where it was & what it has! Then dropped them off at the train station.
3.Got a brand new (as in not recycled!!) cardigan for $5 in a sale with a further 50% off everything! Wouldn't have been as cheap in an opshop.
4.Made pumpkin soup & pavlova for tea.
5.Buying juice for Halloween party at 1/2 price & fabric conditioner that I like at less than 1/2 price.
That's me! Have a good day!0 -
mhagster - it's made all the difference since I had my new battery a week or so ago. Anxiety over when I turn key now - it will be worth it.
Glad to see you're giving famberley some good antipodean staples: pumpkin soup & pavlova for tea.:T Don't forget pumpkin scones, Anzac Biscuits and Honey Bubble slice.
re: your rellies at train station. They've not left already?!?
1. Found YSL Paris perfume for neighbour's upcoming b'day[her favourite] much reduced at Debenhams[altho' still a lump from pension] with points and a further 10% off because some Loyalty offer had not worked when instigated. But she is such a dear, good person, with a difficult life caring for stricken husband. I will think positively for next Fair at Ally Pally.
2. Paid stand for this:eek: on 'phone just now. Same 'big lump' and follow-on comments apply.
3. Still a handful or 2 of raspberries each day, despite my summer's absence and I hate to calculate how many kg now dessicated, ungathered, dead on canes, although many kg still in freezer.
4. It's warm, if breezy, again.
5. Redeemed enough Mr T vouchers to pay for 2nts' accommodation at Lee Valley YH to cover weekend of Fair and it's barely 10 miles further to Ally Pally. After last time, it was an easy[shameful] decision to be kinder to self, not sleep in car[it really was freezing and hard, and prob.worsened health things], but I'm revealing more and more evidence here of slacking up on self....not used to it, not good at it, hence all the edits/revisions which seem like slidings-out from under Guilty Spends and therefore not really OS Pleasures....???:o
6. Oh, keep forgetting and can't be sure it's not more guilt-suppressant at work. Have actually bought 3 favourite perfumes over last week FOR SELF:eek:[2 ebay and 3rd from Debenham's, 1/2price, plus further £5off and loyalty points, as per no.1]:Chanel no. 5;vintage late 60's Zen by Shiseido in the original black matt glass bottle+gilt blossom motif and Cerruti 1881. Launched Zen in NZ during my old NZBC days, last had Chanel[also ebay]over 3 years ago and over 2 years ago for Cerruti. Yes, I seem to be seeking to self-justify all over the place....:o:o:o
Off to open up no. 1 shed now and face contents:eek::eek::eek:. May even undo trailer, too, but that's optimism wild & rampant. Must start prep. towards re-couping so much of the above.

1. Cleaned the windows inside throughout. Just the outside ones to clean but I shall do those tomorrow (rain forecast for tonight!).
2. Made a nice pot of tea using fresh tea leaves (not the bags)
3. Noticed some nice big new shoots on the two year old Orchid so I have moved that to a nicer spot, cut back the old one to regenerate it.
4. Vacuumed through and lit the scented candles.
5. Took in a parcel for a neighbour and had a chat with him when he popped round to collect it.Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

Purple Kitten - any news? If you are anything like me you will be pulling your hair out if you haven't heard yet. This is particularly cruel and unusual punishment to make me wait until so late in the day.
The later it gets the surer that i am that it is a no. ARGH!!!!Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Evening all.
I've had a pretty good day today, by Monday standards:
1) A glorious, stripy pink and blue sunrise. (Sadly the old saying about red sky in the morning has proved correct, though.)
2) I made a complaint to a company over the weekend and they replied this morning with a genuine apology and the offer of any book from their website for free as compensation. :T It's taken me most of the day to pick just one book from the vast selection on offer.
3) I spotted a mistake on my shopping at lunchtime - a multi-buy offer hadn't gone through - and the lady on the till put it through manually. I'm pleased I spotted the error, given my dreadfully poor mathematical ability.
4) A really nice lunch of HM quiche with HM soup, thanks to my weekend of cooking.
5) I treated myself to a new pair of warm, fluffy slippers: that's probably not very OS, but the mog's reaction when I put them on was definitely a free bonus! (I guess they must look like small furry animals to cat eyes, as he was trying to hunt them. :rotfl:)
6) I received a new Waitr0se loyalty card in the post, with a couple of vouchers for good freebies attached.
Purple Kitten - I hope we hear from you soon with good news.
Ladyhawk - ditto!
ampersand - I'm glad you've booked yourself somewhere to stay - it's far too cold to be sleeping in the car at this time of year! Re: Anzac cookies - I was introduced to these last year by a colleague who had visited Australia / NZ (sorry, I can't remember which now) - what utterly scrummy things!
Millie - I hope you're feeling better by now.
sparrer - ditto to you and yur DM.Back after a very long break!0
